Chapter 93: Someone Fell In Love

The moment Areg reached our vehicle, she didn't even hesitate. She yanked the front passenger door open like it weighed nothing, and before I could warn her that the hinges were already weak, she tried squeezing herself through the tight space between the door and Lice. It was almost painful to watch. Her huge ogre frame simply refused to cooperate with the small metal box we called my car. After a solid three seconds of awkward shuffling and bumping, she let out a frustrated grunt and grabbed Lice by the shirt.

"Come here, husband," she said, her voice softening in a way I wasn't prepared for.

Before Lice could protest, she dragged him out of the seat like he was a toddler. The poor guy didn't even land properly, he stumbled, nearly falling onto the dusty ground, but she caught him easily, lifting him like a bag of chips. Then she crushed him into her chest with a hug so tight I thought I heard his bones pop.

"I missed you, husband," she said again, squeezing him even tighter.

Lice, who wasn't short by any means and definitely not slim, still looked like a kid trapped in the embrace of a giant. Areg stood well over six feet, and her ogre physique put everything into perspective. Compared to her, Lice looked like a plush toy she carried around.

She didn't stop there. Her affection was like a storm. She kissed him all over—his cheeks, his forehead, his temples, the side of his neck, and finally his lips. Each kiss left a red mark, little hickeys forming faster than I could count. Lice squirmed and groaned, though not with pleasure. More like a man suffocating under too much love.

"We literally saw each other yesterday," he managed to say in a strained, breathless voice.

But Areg wasn't listening. Not in the slightest. Instead, she rubbed her cheek against his head like a giant affectionate cat, purring as she pressed him against the side of the car, cuddling him intensely.

At that point, I even felt pity for him.

I opened my door and stepped out, wanting at least some distance from the chaos. When I stood up and finally compared my height to hers, I paused. For some reason, I expected her to be shorter now that I was up close. Nope. Still towering above me. She was almost seven feet tall, if not exactly that. Seeing her from inside the car was one thing, but standing next to her felt like standing beside a moving mountain.

Under the tree where the gambling group was gathered, the satyrs and wolfmen paused their game and looked over at the scene with surprise plastered all over their faces.

"I didn't know Areg had a mate," one of the satyrs whispered loudly.

"Same," a wolfman replied, scratching his chin. "Who would've thought she could act like that?"

Across from them, the cat girls looked equally stunned. One of them blinked rapidly and said, "That's crazy… she's being sweet."

"Sweet? Areg?" the other cat girl scoffed. "Impossible. She's always so aggressive."

But just as she finished speaking, a sudden movement caught my eye. One of the rabbit girls sitting opposite the cat girls shot up from her spot. She was short, barely reaching Areg's abdomen and fuming with righteous fury for someone so small. She marched toward us, her long ears bouncing with every step, until she arrived beside Areg and Lice.

Then she tapped Areg on the arm like a teacher scolding a misbehaving kid.

"Pay up your debts!" she demanded, stretching her small hand out expectantly.

Areg froze mid-cuddle.

Slowly, she turned her head, her entire demeanor shifting as if someone flipped a switch. Her fierce expression vanished, replaced by a soft, pouty one. She made a small, adorable sound that did not match her massive body at all.

"Husband…" she said quietly, clinging even more to Lice. "Help me pay my debt. Your wife… got into some trouble."

The rabbit girl's jaw dropped. She blinked multiple times, unable to process what she was experiencing.

"This… this is Areg?" she said in disbelief. "This?! Acting cute?!"

Lice exhaled deeply, defeated. He looked at me with the most exhausted expression I'd seen on him in a long time.

"Do you have any cash on you?" he asked.

I nodded. "Yeah."

He turned back to the rabbit girl. "How much is the debt?"

The rabbit girl rubbed her head with one hand, her ears twitching as if she were doing some heavy mental calculation. It took longer than it should have, but eventually she spoke up.

"Areg owes two hundred Yexens."

Lice blinked. "Oh. That's it? I thought it was something serious."

He didn't even sound annoyed anymore, just relieved. He jerked his thumb toward me. "Collect the money from him."

I pulled out the cash and handed it to the rabbit girl. She stepped closer to take it, and the moment she saw my face up close, she froze. A reddish tint spread across her cheeks, making her blush almost instantly. Her eyes widened slightly the longer she looked.

I sighed. Not surprised. Most women reacted that way when they saw my face in clear view. It wasn't new.

Under different circumstances, I might've entertained the idea of fucking the cute rabbit girl and farming some life points. But considering this was a slum, I doubted I'd be as lucky as Lice. Unlike him, if I slept with someone from here, I'd probably end up catching some bizarre infection.

I rolled my eyes and looked away as she hopped off happily, clutching the money like she'd just won the lottery.

Areg finally released Lice enough for him to breathe properly again. She stood there rubbing her arm shyly, something that looked strange on someone her size.

"Thank you, husband," she said, her cheeks pink. "For paying my debt…"

Lice blushed too. Not a tiny blush, a full one that spread across his face, turning him into someone completely different from the hollow-eyed, stressed-out guy I'd picked up earlier.

I clicked my tongue sharply.

"This hypocrite," I muttered under my breath. "Falling in love this fast."
