Seeing Sissy stare at her like that got Clara to re-think her life choices if she was honest. It was a very short life, however.
But looking back, she really did screw the pooch here. She should've talked with Sissy and Bobo the moment Ali mentioned the academy. But she was just too nervous to bring it up with Sissy, so she first planned on telling Bobo first to let her down easy.
But how was it her fault that out of all the days, Cloud and Val would come in and tattle on her future plans without any preparation? It just wasn't fair.
Sissy and Bobo's words about 'life isn't fair, so neither should you' made more sense now after that. Out of everyone, they knew just how unfair life can be, and they did warn her a few times about that.
That still didn't stop Clara from getting pissy at almost getting yelled at because of bad timing, though.
But out of all of that, she was happier than ever before. It's been a long time since she saw Ana, and now she can not only see her again, but even go to school with her.
The idea of no longer having to go to school after landing into this world was the greatest feeling in the world, but after living in the towns and cities, waiting for Bobo and Sissy to come back from some awesome adventure, made her realize that school isn't just a place to study, but to hang out with her friends and have fun.
Because just studying and training all day just wasn't worth it. Normally, she would watch TV or play video games, but considering how impossible that was at the time, that was the only thing she could do.
So she always looked forward to hanging out with Ana and playing games, learning more about the world by just playing games than just sitting and reading books. She still enjoyed studying, especially studying magic with Bobo, but there was a limit to how many times she would do that per day.
Now that she can go to school, and perhaps even learn more about magic and maybe even get the system initialization early, it got her way more excited than before. And Sissy didn't even seem all that against her going to school either, so all was good in the world.
Well, there were still those nobles wanting to kill them because they're assholes like that, but Bobo and Sissy can take care of them easily enough. It was kinda funny how even in their world, the way they see nobles as bad guys was the same as this one.
But something got her to re-think a little about that plan. Ana was going, and so was Clara. But…
She stood away from the living area where most of the otherworlders were doing their thing. Some were just talking, discussing what stats to focus on and what skills they planned on taking once they got access to skill books, and others were doing their personal weight training to get some stat points even if they had a day off today because of everyone talking in the meeting room.
But her eyes were glued to that one boy near her age who listened with interest to the group talking about stats. Honestly, it was hard not to listen–who doesn't want to talk about points like in a video game?
But she didn't pay any attention to the topic being discussed. All she did was just stare at the boy with such pretty green eyes and a face that made her chest tighten at the sight.
This was the first time she ever felt like this. She never really paid any attention to boys back in the old world. Sometimes Sissy would tease her about seeing any cute boys whenever she goes to school, but the idea of having boyfriends felt so gross at the time.
But now, after spending so much time hanging out with Ana and the other kids back in Eve Glade, she realized that boys can be pretty cute, even if there was nobody around she particularly liked.
There was Bobo, and she sometimes felt weird about it. Bobo was Bobo, there was no way she would ever consider him like a boyfriend, and not to mention that he was Sissy's man. Nothing good would come from getting in between Sissy and what she wanted–she knew that personally.
But she sometimes finds Bobo being really handsome, just like Cloud. Back then, she didn't realize it, but Cloud was super handsome as well. That's when she realized that not all guys can be rough and dirty, like the soldiers that often trained in the field even with their shirts off, showing off a lot of muscle that honestly intimidated Clara.
But seeing the boy known as Tigger, she knew now exactly why girls like boys. That sounded silly, but she understood it now. When she first saw Tigger, her face heated up and she wanted to run away, and to her dismay, she did. When Sissy chased her down to find out what happened, she swore she would never go through that again.
But this time, she knew. And now, she wanted to get to know him more, find out what he liked or what he disliked. Did he play the same video games as her, or watch the same movies? What does he plan on doing now in this world when the system arrived?
Does he like girls? Or does he like boys? Clara knew that boys can even like boys, which she felt was unfair if Tigger was like that, but she would make sure not to be annoying and leave him be if he was into boys. That's why she wanted to know. She wanted to know how old he was, if he had a mom or a dad, or even siblings like Sissy and Bobo.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
She wanted to know so much about him that her mind can't think of anything else. It was easy to forget all these things when she's not looking at him, but now she can't stop thinking about him.
And that's when she figured it out. What if she just… asked him to join her to the academy?
The topic between the otherworlders eventually faded away, leaving Tigger by himself. He looked puzzled, not knowing whether to go and train with the others or find another group to talk to. He looked so lonely, his eyes wandering left and right.
If there was anything Sissy taught her to heart, it is to chase after whatever it was she wanted. And right now, she knew what she wanted. Steeling her heart, she faced Tigger by walking up towards him.
She remembered Sissy's words, saying that there was nothing worse than someone that just stared and didn't reciprocate in the conversation with someone. Clara understood that, so instead, she'll take the initiative. Her heart pounded like mad, but she kept a steady expression just as Zoan taught her and smiled at the boy.
"Hi, Tigger," She said, giving herself an inner high five for pulling it off.
Tigger seemed surprised to see her, but then he shifted into a smile. "Oh, hey. You're… Clara, right? Mikky's little sister?"
"Yep," Clara nodded joyfully. "Oh, but I'm not that little. I'm about to turn thirteen. How about you?"
"I'm already thirteen," Tigger answered casually. "Oh, we really are the same age."
Fuck yeah! Clara cheered for herself, already knowing one thing about him. Just learning that felt like she just passed a hurdle as she continued.
"We are! It sucks that we can't get the system thingy yet though. We gotta wait two whole years for that."
"Ugh, yeah…" Tigger groaned. "Who put up that stupid rule? Why not make anyone get the system when they're born? Or maybe like at five like in the shows and movies?"
"Bobo said–" Clara said, but realized that she was the only one who knew what Bobo and Sissy meant. She shook her head, changing tactics quickly. "I-I mean Zeke said that if anyone can have a system, then babies can breathe fire and kill anyone in sight."
Tigger quickly turned pale at that. Clara panicked, not realizing that suddenly mentioning death can really bring the mood down.
"Oh dang, you're right… I haven't thought about that," Tigger muttered, relieving Clara's panic as he agreed. "But still, maybe at around 10 years old or something? That sounds fair, right?"
"Tell me about it."
Clara giggled, even doing that little hair twirl she recalled Sissy saying that was popular to do when talking to a guy you like. It didn't look like it was working since Tigger just kept staring at her with no change in his expression.
Seeing the lull, her mind acted for the chance as she asked.
"Umm, so do you know that there's a school here in the city?"
Tigger instantly took attention, but he raised a single brow at her.
"I don't think so. Why you ask?"
She got nervous, thinking that Tigger was now considering her pretty annoying. She knew if anyone asked her questions that should be obvious, she would be pretty annoyed too.
But she stood up straight, facing the boy with a grin.
"It's actually an academy," Clara smiled. "A magical academy. And thanks to Ali, me and my friend are gonna transfer there to learn more about magic."
That got his full attention this time. There was that gleam in his eyes that any boy would probably adore. Who the hell wouldn't like magic academies?
"Wow, that sounds cool," Tigger said, clear envy in his tone. "Wish I could join…"
"Why not?" Clara prompted, instantly making his head turn quickly at her. "I can ask Ali and see if I can get you in too. It's not like you can do much here while everyone else is training and leveling up their skills. And more importantly…"
She closed in, taking the opportunity to look closely at Tigger. By god, he was even cuter up close. There was some acne there, just as it was happening to her as she grew, but those green eyes of his kept her attention as she spoke softly to make a more dramatic voice.
"If we do good enough, we can get the system initialization early!"
"Seriously?!"
Tigger shouted, his eyes turning wide and disbelieving. There was that spring in his step that got Clara to clench her fist behind her back in pure delight.
"You're not joking, right? Is that true? We don't have to wait until we're fifteen to get it?"
"If we do good enough," Clara clarified. "I don't know if we can do good, but that's my goal. I wanna help B–I mean, Zeke and Mikella as much as I can. And I can't do that if I don't have the system."
"So we gotta get on top of the leaderboards or something… I gotcha," Tigger nodded slowly. "So I just gotta ask permission from Zeke and Mikella. You think they'll let me?"
"I don't see why not."
Clara will make sure of that. She didn't care if she had to get on her knees and beg Sissy to let Tigger in with her. She can probably convince Bobo, but she somehow had a feeling that it might be more difficult than convincing Sissy. Why was that?
"Okay…" Tigger kept nodding his head, excitement filling him. "Okay, so when can we get ready?"
"In the next five days, Ali will bring me to the academy to start on our first class. I haven't seen Ana yet, but she'll probably come by too. But I'll make sure to ask to see if you can join too."
"Alright! I'm counting on you, Clara. And thanks for this. I owe you!"
Hearing those words along with that smile of his made Clara's heart beat out of her chest. She was so worried that it was loud enough for Tigger to hear.
Instead, she managed with a smile of her own, wanting nothing more than to be friends for now. But that's only for now…
On the other hand, far away from the budding teens' interaction were the otherworlders who had nothing else to do than to listen in. Some cheered silently, while others marveled at the upcoming youth.
And some, daring to go against the odds, betted on whether Tigger would eventually figure out that Clara's into him. It was clear that the chance of that happening was very slim. And they were there, ready and waiting, to watch it all happen.
