That day, Cæ spent all his time researching the viability of the solution that he had developed. Specifically, he began researching hospital infrastructure and its design, aiming to gain a broad level of knowledge on the topic.
He also needed to sharpen up on medical and healthcare protocols, laws, regulations, and industry standards if he had any hope of actually setting up a hospital that implemented his solution.
He could, theoretically, take a more detached approach to it, but he would not be able to leverage his creativity to allow the solution to diverge significantly. Most likely, anybody that he hired to begin designing a new hospital would not be able to deviate too from industry standards unless he was extremely involved in the process and had absolute clarity in his vision.
"This will take me a long time to learn," he realized as he skimmed through the sheer bulk of knowledge that he needed to digest before he could flesh out his vision. "I probably won't be able to launch this commercial venture before the Magic Contest at the end of the year, after the exams. Damn…"
He had too much on his plate.
He had his magicademics, which required a lot of time daily. He couldn't afford to let his grades fall and affect how alluring he was as someone to invest in; he definitely couldn't afford to fail anything.
"On top of that, I have daily Martial Magic practice with Professor Mercile."
And if he got selected as a candidate for the Combat Competition, he would have to train even more to ensure that he was at his peak when the competition eventually rolled around.
"I still have to keep up with the preparations of Trinity Housings' expansion into another city," Cæ's expression grew strained. "Even if I'm not the most active participant, I will need to have an input on everything and approve all the changes. I can't let my duty as CEO slip."
And on top of all of that, he was going to be busy with his preparations for fleshing out his vision for the company.
"Damn… I'm going to have to ration my time like I don't have much of it left."
He immediately began plotting out his schedule.
Class wasn't mandatory, but it was recommended, for the professors at the Elendir Institute of Magic were of the highest quality one could reasonably get their hands on. Though he could consider skipping classes for some of the easier courses he had taken, where his strengths really shone the most.
"I have eight hours after all my classes," he closed his eyes as he visualized a timetable in his mind. "I have four tasks to focus on: Academics, Project Heart-healing, Trinity Housings, and preparation for the Magic Contest."
Of the four of them, none of them was particularly pressing, but as the year passed, some would grow more important than the others. For one, Trinity Housings was something that would increasingly require his time due to the expansion to the other city that Cæ could not afford to miss.
Magicademics would also grow ever more important as the year passed and his final exams arrived, requiring more time for him to focus on. The Magic Contest would also grow more important as the year passed and it drew closer, requiring him to spend more time on it.
"If these three are going to grow more time-consuming over the year, then I should focus on the one thing that is truly not a pressing issue," he realized. "I should focus on Project Hearthealer over the next few months."
It was the name that he gave to the project on a whim.
Regardless of the four, it was the least pressing because it didn't have any deadlines that he was obligated to keep up with, nor did it demand any effort from him. For now, it was just an idea in his head that conferred no responsibility or pressure on him. He could take his time and figure the business idea out thoroughly.
"Though, given that the other three will become increasingly important and time-demanding as time passes, I should focus on this project while I have the time," he decided, noting it down. "Four hours on Project Hearthealer, the remaining four hours for the remaining three."
He saved one hour for all things else, including rest, eating, and perhaps a meal or two with friends.
Regardless, it meant that he was going to be even busier that year than he was last year, where he was swamped with magic alone while Seliphaz designed the first model of the Haven line and Feidin handled the setting of the company from scratch.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
This time, he had two additional matters to attend to in addition to magic.
Regardless, he had made up his mind regarding his priorities.
He would focus on Project Hearthealer while he could afford it and then devote everything to the other projects when they later would grow more important.
And thus, a whole week passed in the blink of an eye, and he began his new schedule.
It began with a whole day of magic lessons and practice from early morning. This alone would have been extremely tiring to any other student, for Cæ had chosen a wide variety of topics across many disciplines and fields. This was especially burdensome because the burden of new information dumping on him was particularly high.
Introductory courses tend to be much more dense in information because they generally tend to begin a course with a high volume of basic information before they move on to practicals.
This meant that Cæ was blasted with an ocean of pure information and knowledge that he needed to memorize from the very get-go. Thankfully, his memory had improved greatly since his accident and his Acquired Savant Syndrome, allowing him to memorize and digest most of the information in class itself, leaving very little remaining that could be memorized after class with one hour of studies.
However, of the practicals he had, the most important were eidos training and mana-motive force cultivation.
Eidos and mana were the most fundamental aspects of magic.
No matter what field it was, these were always central.
Thus, no matter what, he found himself going through a lot of hypnotic association therapy, based on the Memory Model of Eidos created by Great Magus Merlin. As it was in the first year, he found himself strapped to a chair, injected with a special hypnotizing agent to allow him to strongly associate runes with their elements eidos templates.
Mana-motive force training worked by the Drive-Anchor Method developed by Magus Morgan. Mana-motive force was simply the mental force that moved mana, and it needed to be trained in a grueling endurance-related training program that focused on centering one's mana-motive force around a powerful drive.
In Cæ's case, it was centered around his desire to destroy the world order and build a better one. It served as a tremendous fuel and made his mana-motive force grow stronger and stronger.
Aside from that, he also got a lot of practical training in his combat training regime; he sparred against a wide variety of opponents, winning all of his matches with relative ease, for the most part.
Regardless, his magicademics was draining, leaving him tired after he returned to his dorm room. Immediately after, he had Martial Magic training from Professor Mercile, who had begun showing him the nine most powerful unarmed styles of Martial Magic in the world.
Despite being truly exhausted after his training session with Professor Mercile each day, he still pushed himself to begin deep-diving into the heart-healing and the healthcare industry at large, especially its protocols and paradigms.
The more he learned, the more he was able to flesh out the vision of his solution.
He also pestered Master Zymshire whenever he had the opportunity to clarify his doubts on the matter of medical care and its sectors, consulting with as many professors who were related to medicine in some way or another.
After all, although he didn't intend to specialize in medicine as a healer, there were plenty of students who did. Thus, the Elendir Institute of Magic had many courses related to virtually all fields in healing at a graduate level.
This helped him further refine his understanding from them as they extensively explained the more complicated and less transparent details and nuances of how healing surgery functioned.
He also began searching for potential business partners who had a foundation or background in the fields that he was looking for. However, he couldn't just randomly go for the most qualified people in this field and simply make an offer to them. A blind attempt at recruiting business partners was not effective; most people would very much reject his business proposition in a heartbeat.
It was simply too much for most people to start a radically novel start-up.
The risks associated with it were extreme, and staking their financial livelihood on such a venture was far too much risk for people to invest in the matter. Most people were willing to forego the opportunity of great success if it meant getting rid of risk and simply having a stable income.
He needed people like Feidin, who had no dependents and were willing to give the business their everything without too much concern for the risks. He also wanted someone with some passion in the matter, like Seliphaz. This combination had proven to be very effective for Trinity Housings and allowed him to take time off from the business without having it collapse on him.
"These are tough standards, and frankly, I lucked out with Feidin and Seliphaz."
They were both the first people he had looked into for their role, and it shortened what would have been an otherwise long process.
"If I choose wisely, I can get it done as soon as possible," he mused. "Thankfully, I have more resources at my disposal this time."
Cæ wasn't as financially tight as he had been when he first entered the Elendir Institute of Magic. Since then, Trinity Housings had done extremely well in the slums, and his share of the revenue meant that he could afford to spend money to solve his problems. He could consider paying information brokers or market research companies to help him with his job if he really wanted.
The final part of his day involved going through Trinity Housings updates.
Seliphaz would send him details of the progress that she was making in the shared product mainframe group that they had created with the three of them. Now that they were in the prototype phase once more for the next model of Havens, she had plotted several more prototypes and approaches that they could take. It took Cæ everything after each day to go through all her notes and designs to follow the progress and ensure that he didn't disgrace himself as the CEO of the company by being clueless about the developments in his company.
He made sure to speak to either Feidin or Seliphaz every day, while visiting once every alternate day to make sure that he didn't alienate himself from the company. He didn't want to lose his connection with the very first company he ever created.
With such a rigorous schedule, it was no surprise that a week passed in the blink of an eye.
And before he even realized it, the Combat Contest Selection had arrived.
