Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 505: The Big Skeleton

Right now, Chu Mo was sitting blankly in front of an archaeological ruin.

This was an extraordinarily decayed ruin, almost completely rotted away. Only a few clues remained to suggest that this was once a palace.

Chu Mo had no idea how he had arrived here.

After Zhou Jun left Gui Xu, Hua Sanniang, He Feng, and Xiao Yunlian, among others, miraculously fell into good hands and vanished.

Then, the long-dormant Heavenly Mirror finally gave Chu Mo a clue.

Rather than taking others with him, Chu Mo chose to venture alone into the depths of Gui Xu.

Before leaving, Chu Mo was considerate enough to expand the safe perimeter for the group. He believed that everything that could be done had been done.

The disciples of One Sword and the Immortals understood his choice, realizing that Chu Mo didn't owe them anything.

The remaining disciples from the West Sea clan were reluctant when they saw Chu Mo leaving, but they no longer had the reason to follow him. In fact, even if they wanted to follow, they couldn't.

That's because as Chu Mo began walking into the distance, his figure suddenly disappeared.

What Chu Mo didn't know was that not long after he left, the areas previously deemed safe began to fill with danger.

No matter whether they were from the West Sea clan or disciples of One Sword or the Immortals, those who had not obtained the fortunate opportunity started to die one by one. No one could survive.

Only when they were about to die did they finally realize that the reason they were able to live comfortably was all because of Chu Mo. Now that Chu Mo was gone, they no longer had that good fortune.

It was at that moment that they began to envy Zhou Jun.

As for the experiences of the others, Chu Mo had no clue. He was now worried and couldn't figure out why the Heavenly Mirror directed him to this place.

After arriving here, the Heavenly Mirror did nothing and gave no hint of what should be done next.

"What does this mean?" muttered Chu Mo.

While saying this, Chu Mo suddenly sensed some movement in the ruins upfront.

Then a gigantic figure crawled out from these ruins unexpectedly.

Chu Mo backed away swiftly as he noticed something stirred in the ruins before him. He retreated a few dozen li in a split second and hid under a cliff to see what was happening.

The figure turned out to be a massive skeleton about ten zhang tall. By the size of it, it was hard to believe it was once human. How could there be a human being ten zhang tall? But looking at the structure, it was undoubtedly a human.

After crawling out, the gigantic skeleton didn't attack Chu Mo. Instead, it sat on the ruins like a normal human, resting its chin on its hand, and seemed lost in thought.

Chu Mo felt his mouth twitching. This whole scene was just too eerie.

A skeleton crawled out from the ruins and sat there in deep thought. No matter how you looked at it, it was bizarre and unsettling.

A short while later, the gigantic skeleton suddenly turned its head towards Chu Mo, looking directly at him through its hollow eyes.

Despite being just a skeleton with no eyes, Chu Mo could feel it was staring at him.

It felt as though he were being sized up by a giant, not a skeleton.

Chu Mo's face turned tense. Although he didn't know the strength of this gigantic skeleton and couldn't sense any aura from it, he knew that anything that could exist in Gui Xu wasn't simple.

If not for his trust in the Heavenly Mirror, Chu Mo would have had an urge to flee.

At this point, the skeleton suddenly waved at Chu Mo.

Chu Mo was utterly stunned.

"Are you calling me?" he asked, looking incredulous.

Despite the dozens of li separating them, Chu Mo clearly saw it nod.

"..." Chu Mo was perplexed. He was a bit unwilling and didn't want to approach.

This was too weird!

Chu Mo had seen many different beings before in the Illusion realm but he had never heard of a species of skeletons.

After a human's death, weren't they supposed to be reincarnated? Or they could choose to continue living as a soul. When did a skeleton become capable of thinking?

At that moment, the gigantic skeleton waved at Chu Mo again, as it stood up, spreading both of its arms, indicating that it meant no harm.

It was then that Chu Mo saw the skeleton wasn't intact. Its sternum, right where its heart would have been, was shattered as if pierced by something. Also, one of its leg bones was shorter than the other.

The result was him leaning a bit when he stood up, one side higher than the other.

Chu Mo drew a deep breath and decided to go and take a closer look.

He reassured himself that even if the skeleton launched a surprise attack, he could retreat into the Illusion realm in a split second to evade it.

With that thought, Chu Mo walked returns to the gigantic skeleton.

From a closer perspective, he noticed it was not only minor injuries on the skeleton—- it was full of holes!

Every single bone was marred with traces of being hacked and sliced with a blade. Some bones were on the verge of breaking off.

The sight sent chills down Chu Mo's spine. Just what kind of brutal battle had this creature faced to end up in this state?

It seemed to perceive Chu Mo's sympathy, as the jaw of the gigantic skeleton gave a grin, as if it was smiling.

"..." Confronted with this bizarre scene, Chu Mo was truly at a loss for words. He looked up and asked, "Why did you call me over?"

The gigantic skeleton pointed at Chu Mo and made a gesture indicating that it wants to start a fight. Then it pointed at itself.

"Huh? You want me to fight you?" muttered Chu Mo, looking at the skeleton who was nodding repeatedly. He couldn't believe it.

The skeleton pointed at Chu Mo again. This time it imitated the act of drawing a sword and then adopted a defensive position.

"You want me to attack you with a sword?" asked Chu Mo in disbelief.

The skeleton nodded vigorously and even gave Chu Mo a thumbs-up, leaving Chu Mo at a loss.

"Why?" Chu Mo couldn't understand why it was going to great lengths to make such a request.

At that moment, the skeleton hopped backward hundreds of feet and began practicing its own combat skills.

Initially, Chu Mo was going to laugh at this, but as he watched, he was completely astounded!

The combat skills the skeleton was practicing turned out to be the Thousand Heavy Hands, the Three Talents Boxing Technique, and the Netherworld Eight Blades!

Next, something even more astonishing occurred. (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit qidian.com to vote for recommendation and monthly tickets. Your support is my biggest motivation. Mobile device users can read on m.qidian.com)
