Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 300: Big Liar

"That would, certainly so!" Sui Hongru declared with a firm tone.

At that moment, on the vast prairie in the distance, a dust storm suddenly blew up. Simultaneously, they felt a slight tremor underneath them, as if thousands upon thousands of soldiers were charging towards them.

Chu Yan and Sui Hongru ceased their conversation. They exchanged a glance and saw in each other's eyes the color of anxiety and anticipation.

For this meeting, both sides... had been waiting for a long time.

The story goes back to four months ago, one month after Chu Mo's disappearance.

Inside the royal tent of the Prairie royal court.

Nayi, who was already a queen of the Prairie, was slightly frowning while listening to the reports of her subordinates. Despite her beautiful eyebrows, they remained tightly knit.

"Your Majesty, a sudden army has sprung up in Great Xia. At the very least they are one hundred thousand strong and have appeared on Great Qi's territory, which borders us!"

"They also brought a large amount of people. I didn't dare to get too close for fear of causing misunderstanding, but I estimate there are at least a million people!"

"How did they appear on Great Qi's territory? Strange!"

Nayi, with her brows furrowed, said softly, "Don't provoke them. Keep investigating."

Three months ago.

Inside the royal tent of the Prairie royal court.

"Your Majesty, they have begun to build a city there... My god, looking at the scale of the city, it is certainly a royal city! It can accommodate millions of people without any problem!"

"According to my investigation, these people seem to be led by a young man who has caused a stir in Great Xia."

"This young man was crowned as the King of Chu by the Emperor of Great Xia. I specially sent someone to visit Great Xia and got some news that you might be interested in!"

"Oh?" said the delicately beautiful young lady on the throne, who seemed a little interested.

"Our Prairie's War God, Gao Yingjun... is there!"

"What?" In Nayi's eyes, there suddenly sprang two sharp rays of light. She looked at her subordinate, exclaimed, "What do you mean? Explain clearly!"

This guard, who was an accomplished knight of the Prairie royal court, stayed by Nayi's side since her escape. He knew clearly what Nayi was thinking.

He looked at Nayi and spoke, "The primary decision-makers over there are five people. Among those who are responsible internally, one is called Wang Dafa. He used to be a famous wealthy man in Yanhuang City, the capital of Great Xia, but for some reason, he decided to support Chu Mo. He is primarily tasked with building the city."

"What about the others?" Nayi asked her confidant knight, "What is the War God responsible for?"

"The War God is responsible for training soldiers! It appears he has become the chief trainer for the army of one hundred thousand!" the knight said, "There is also a middle-aged man with one arm, who also commands great respect among the troops. According to my investigation, the army should be connected to Wang Dafa, yet shortly after their arrival, the entire army...was completely under the control of that one-armed middle-aged man."

"Hmm." Nayi's breath quickened, "Continue."

"There is another young man called Xu Fufu. He is the grandson of Xu Zhongliang, premier and chief advisor to the monarch in Great Xia. He is ranked last in his generation in his family, hence known as 'Tenth Young Master Xu.' Fifty thousand of the one hundred thousand army is under his command!" the knight continued, "And there is a woman named Liu Mei'er who appears to be Xu Fufu's wife. At least, when I was there, many people referred to her as Madam Xu."

"How did you get into their army?" Nayi suddenly asked a tangential question.

The knight laughed, "They were building a city, and it's unknown where they got the materials from, but one could tell by their abundant resources. However, they were seriously short-handed."

"Aren't they already a million strong, and with an army of a hundred thousand?" Nayi, her eyes wide and shimmering, went on to question the knight.

The young knight's heart skipped a beat from Nayi's gaze, then he thought with a bitter smile: she's the queen, and she's devoted to another, definitely not someone you can harbor thoughts for...

"Those millions each have their own jobs, plus, to build such a big city, the more people the better. Thus, they started recruiting workers. A lot of our people have gone to work for them. The conditions they offer are excellent; even I got the feeling of wanting to stay there after working for a few days."

The knight smiled and continued, "As for that army of one hundred thousand, they have been continuously attacking the nearby cities of Great Qi... In just over a month, they've already conquered two of the Great Qi's major cities!"

Sheesh!

Nayi couldn't help but gasp, "What's going on? A prince crowned by Great Xia... took millions of people to seize territory in Great Qi? Also... they're building a major city, suggesting a permanent occupation!"

"Yes, their leading commander, I always thought was Chu Mo because he wore a mask every day. But one day, I heard her speak, and realized it was a woman," the knight said.

"A woman?" Nayi furrowed her brows again.

A woman who had the audacity to fight battles in the name of King Chu... what was her relationship with the King of Chu? Surely it was not simple?

"Tell me more about the War God," Nayi took a deep breath and looked at the knight.

The knight knew what his queen was thinking. He scratched his head with a wry smile, "The War God... Haven't you realized it? He looks a bit...dull, um... anyway, I didn't dare approach him too closely for fear of being recognized. He spends his days training soldiers there and often goes out with the army in their campaigns."

"Oh..." Nayi's face seemed a little disappointed, "Then you can go. But remember, keep an eye on their movements."

"Yes, if there are any new developments, I will report to Your Majesty immediately!" the knight replied.

"Go..." Nayi touched her forehead with a hand, sitting on the throne lost in thought.

After quite a while, she slowly opened her eyes and murmured, "Chu Mo... Chu Mo... Lin Bai... Lin Bai..."

While she was speaking, her eyes suddenly brightened, as if she had realized something.

"His home is in Great Xia... All he has done on the prairie is for his country!"

"The upper part of the character 'Chu' is 'Lin,' and 'Mo' means black... In reverse, it means white...."

"Chu Mo... Lin Bai..."

"The War God is still there... faithfully training troops for him, fighting wars without any complaints... Who else, besides him, would be able to command such a giant?"

As she spoke, a trail of tears rolled down Nayi's face. On her delicate face, a look of playfulness and bitterness, she laughed, "You big liar, you've been hiding from me, haven't you? Let's see where you're going to run away this time!" (To be continued. If you like this novel, you are welcome to vote for it on qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation.
