Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 212: To Scare You to Death

Elder Chen stared at Zhao Er coldly for a long time before growling through gritted teeth, "You've screwed us over!"

Zhao Er wore a somber face, "I didn't think it would turn out this way."

A person beside Elder Chen asked, "What do we do now?"

"What else can we do? First, we pull our men back and hope that kid doesn't perceive the danger. Leave some people here to keep watch; as for the rest of us, we retreat first!" Elder Chen said before flicking his sleeve, turning around, and leaving.

The people who were with Elder Chen also quickly dispersed.

Only Zhao Er was left standing there, still appearing shell-shocked, mumbling to himself, "What went wrong? He's just a teenager; could it be that the person who came... isn't Chu Mo in disguise?"

A moment later, a gust of cold wind swept past. Zhao Er's plump body shivered a bit, and then he hastily scurried away.

Chu Mo had been hiding in the large willow tree the whole time, observing Zhao Er and Elder Chen's movements from afar.

Chu Mo's eyes radiated a chill, and without uttering a word, he turned and left.

Three days later, a large rooster appeared out of nowhere, catching up with Chu Mo who had been riding at full speed.

"Kid, why are you running so fast? Were you trying to shake me off in secret?" the large rooster glared at Chu Mo and blustered as soon as it saw him.

Chu Mo glanced at the rooster covered in dust and expressed his surprise, "Why are you in such a mess? Did someone beat you up?"

"You're the one who got beaten up!" the rooster retorted indignantly, "I went to visit the noble families of Great Qi and stole a bunch of primordial medicines for you. I can't believe an ungrateful wretch like you would leave me behind and run off!"

"What? You stole a bunch of primordial medicines?" Chu Mo's lips twitched slightly.

The large rooster knew Chu Mo was short of medicinal materials. He also knew that Chu Mo was gathering these medicines to cure his master's poisoning.

"Of course!" The large rooster sneered whilst glancing at Chu Mo, "For a single create-a-fish, I'll give you all the primordial medicine."

Suddenly, there was a large pile of various primordial medicines stacked up in front of the large rooster. A strong medicinal fragrance filled the air.

Chu Mo watched in utter disbelief, "How many houses did you rob?"

The rooster declared proudly, "I've robbed every decent place in the entire Great Qi Capital. It's a pity that the palace's defenses are too tight, with powerful figures stationed there; I couldn't get in..."

Looking at the pile of primordial medicine, the Heavenly Mirror in Chu Mo's chest kept emitting heat.

It was evident that these primordial medicines were genuinely precious.

"Doesn't it seem fair to exchange for one fish?" the rooster asked Chu Mo somewhat nervously.

It knew very well that the create-a-fish was priceless. Not to mention primordial medicine, even divine medicine from the Heavenly Realm... would be hard to trade for a create-a-fish!

"Haven't I already told you, each fish you eat is one less...," Chu Mo said with a headache.

Indeed, amongst these primordial medicines, there were several that could be used to concoct an antidote for the Demon Lord, and there were quite a few of them. Chu Mo wasn't unwilling to part with the create-a-fish. If it could save his master, even if he had to hand over all the create-a-fish, he would willingly do so.

The problem was that he wanted to breed the create-a-fish.

"Just leave a few for breeding!" the rooster retorted while rolling its eyes, "You have dozens of them anyway!"

After pondering, Chu Mo said, "Alright, just this once. It won't happen again!"

Saying this, he took out a create-a-fish from the Heavenly Mirror and threw it to the rooster, before collecting the pile of primordial medicine.

The rooster gulped down the fish triumphantly in a few bites, then looked at Chu Mo and asked, "Why did you leave in such a hurry? Did something happen?"

Chu Mo nodded, "There is urgent military news..."

"Very urgent?" the rooster asked.

Chu Mo nodded.

"You're lucky!" The rooster grumbled, "Considering you gave Chicken Master a fish..."

Two days later, in Yanhuang City.

In a state of travel-worn exhaustion, Chu Mo quietly appeared in the palace.

The Emperor seemed to be discussing something with Marshal Fang Mingtong, so both of them met with Chu Mo.

"You lad...why are you back?" Fang Mingtong looked at Chu Mo strangely then said to the Emperor, "Your Majesty, didn't I tell you? Sending this child to Great Qi to spy on military information was nonsense!"

The Emperor also looked surprised and said, "I did indeed show some lack of consideration..."

Chu Mo looked at them both speechlessly and said, "I just rushed back from Great Qi, risking my life..."

"What?"

"How is that possible?"

The Emperor and Fang Mingtong exclaimed in unison, staring at Chu Mo in disbelief.

Fang Mingtong said, "Chu Mo, this involves state affairs; you can't talk nonsense."

The Emperor asked a question and then scrutinized the weary Chu Mo, before saying with disbelief, "Can it really be true?"

"..." Chu Mo, upset, looked at the Emperor, "Then why did you send me to Great Qi?"

The Emperor was silent for a moment before murmuring, "My intention in sending you to Great Qi was to test... whether you could repeat the ability you displayed on the Prairie..."

Chu Mo looked puzzled at the Emperor.

At this point, Fang Mingtong explained, "The Emperor thought that you had good luck, given the great credit you earned on the Prairie. So, he sent you to Great Qi, hoping you might produce unexpected results. Actually, we of the Great Xia intelligence department, have been operating in Great Qi for a while. Even before your mission, we had obtained very accurate information. But the Emperor felt something was wrong, and decided to let you try your luck..."

Chu Mo immediately appeared speechless, looking at the somewhat embarrassed Emperor, then sighed, "Can you tell me the results acquired by our intelligence department?"

Fang Mingtong looked at the Emperor, who nodded. Then Fang Mingtong shared, "The Great Qi Kingdom has divided their troops into five groups. They will launch simultaneous attacks on us from five points. We have already made appropriate arrangements."

"Is that it?" Chu Mo looked at Fang Mingtong, thinking: As expected!

The huge army heading towards Skybreaker Mountain, as I suspected, is the biggest secret!

"That's all? Don't tell me you got some different information?" Fang Mingtong looked at Chu Mo sceptically, "It's been barely a month, even I couldn't return so quickly. Did you... really go to Great Qi?"

Chu Mo gave Fang Mingtong a displeased look and said, "What Marshal Fang cannot do, doesn't mean I can't!"

"Getting touchy, ay!" Fang Mingtong couldn't help but laugh, before looking at Chu Mo and saying, "So what extraordinary information did you find?"

Chu Mo scoffed, "I'm afraid my information might scare you Marshal Fang. Are you sure you want to hear it?"

Fang Mingtong's facial muscles twitched, he snorted, "In all my years, I've never been scared. Lad, lying about such important matters is punishable!"

The Emperor then stepped in to mediate, "I see Chu Mo looking exhausted; he seems to have come a long way. I believe in your good luck, go on..."

Fang Mingtong couldn't help but roll his eyes and said in a twitching voice, "Your Majesty...can national affairs be based purely on luck?"

The Emperor ignored him, eagerly watching Chu Mo.
