Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 1281: Windwalker

Watching Chu Mo's nonchalant expression, observing how swiftly and easily the injured from our sect began to relax, Elder Tu could only heave a sigh in his heart. Such a young person was absolutely deserving of the title of a young titan. He couldn't even use the term "fearsome young talent" to describe Chu Mo, for it no longer seemed fitting. Chu Mo had indeed already qualified to be on an equal footing with someone like him, a Quasi-Supreme, and even, deep in his heart, Elder Tu felt: it probably wouldn't be long before he would lose even the right to stand as an equal before this youth.

"Daoist Friend Chu," Elder Tu changed his address once more, as he bowed respectfully, "Thank you!"

Chu Mo returned the bow, "There's no need for formality, Elder Tu. It was originally my fault."

One who respects me by an inch, I respect them by a foot. This was Chu Mo's way of conducting himself in the world.

"Daoist Friend Chu should just call me Daoist Brother Tu. Who among us can claim the title of Elder in your presence?" Elder Tu said with a bitter smile.

Chu Mo chuckled, "That's an exaggeration, Elder Tu is a senior..."

"Don't say that, Daoist Friend Chu. If you keep it up, I'll have no place to show my face. You are the grandson of a great man; if we discuss seniority, in the entire Heavenly Realm today, there are hardly a few who can stand above you. So for me to be addressed as 'Daoist Friend' is already a favorable deal for me." Elder Tu said with a face full of humility.

The injured cultivators of the Ancient Sword Sect looked at each other in bewilderment. They didn't understand why the situation had shifted so drastically all of a sudden. Why did the Grand Elder become so courteous to this young man?

Of course, Elder Tu would not explain anything to them. He then personally escorted Chu Mo, arranging for him the highest level guest room within the Ancient Sword Sect. After that, he ordered a table of exquisite dishes from the kitchen.

Elder Tu called no one else to join them, only he and Chu Mo were present. Because there were some matters that were simply not appropriate for others to hear.

An adored disciple of the Ancient Sword Sect's Grand Elder turned out to be a Blood Servant of the Demon Clan. If such news got out, it would shock and appall! It was simply too astounding! Even within the Ancient Sword Sect itself, accepting such a truth would be extremely difficult.

"Daoist Friend, if… I mean, if my unworthy disciple really refuses to heed advice and he desires to leave, what should be done?" Elder Tu spoke with worried brows as he held his wine cup. In truth, he was in no mood to drink wine. After witnessing Chu Mo's divine abilities, he had all but placed his hopes on this young titan.

"I can't quite bring myself to pompously talk about righteousness defeating familial affection, because sages are rare; truly, those who can act with such righteousness are hard to find in the world, and most are forced into it," Chu Mo said with a bitter smile. "So, regarding this matter, if he refuses to turn back, it indeed poses some trouble. It's all up to whether Elder Tu is willing to let go."

"Hm?" Elder Tu's eyebrows slightly raised. He caught on to the hidden meaning in Chu Mo's words. The first part spoke of how few could act with such righteousness over kin, yet the latter part asked him if he was willing to let go; clearly, this was not about exercising righteousness. He looked at Chu Mo, his face showing earnest curiosity, "I am eager to hear more."

"It's like this; I've always felt that, even if someone has been implanted with a demonic seed by the Demon Clan and become a Blood Servant, it doesn't necessarily mean there's absolutely no solution. It's just that we lack people who are skilled enough to handle it," Chu Mo said.

"You indeed have a deep understanding of the Demon Clan," Elder Tu sighed and then spoke, "Yes, I too, have always felt that it should be possible to remove it. Perhaps, only a true Supreme, one of the greatest powers, would have such an ability. But nowadays, in this Heaven and Earth, to become a Supreme..." Elder Tu suddenly lifted his head to look at Chu Mo, "I'm afraid that only you, Daoist Friend Chu, are the likely one."

Chu Mo shook his head with a bitter smile, "I'm not confident about that, but I will make an effort to work in that direction. When I just asked if you were willing to let go, what I meant was, if he is willing to repent, then it's all negotiable. Sealing a Quasi-Supreme is difficult, but not impossible."

Elder Tu nodded, "Indeed, the Ancient Sword Sect has accumulated some resources over the years."

Chu Mo chuckled inwardly: What modest accumulations? An Ancient Sect that has survived several epochs with only hundreds of members must have significant resources. Who are they trying to fool? But he didn't point this out and continued, "If he's unwilling, then, I am prepared to set up an array. This array will be a death array."

Elder Tu's eyelids twitched, but he held back from interrupting.

"You must be well aware that trapping a Quasi-Supreme is difficult," Chu Mo continued. "I am confident I can kill a cultivator who has just entered the realm of a Quasi-Supreme, but I'm not sure about killing someone who has been in that realm for many years. Besides, even if I had the power to kill him, you wouldn't want to see that."

Elder Tu's lips twitched, thinking you really mince no words! To confidently talk about killing a being of that level in front of a Quasi-Supreme like me... But he knew that this youth before him was not boasting. He truly possessed that ability!

Chu Mo went on, "So, in order to confine him, subdue him, and then seal him, the difficulty is too great. My death array can disintegrate his physical body while preserving his primordial spirit. This way, we can spare his life. Then, we can seal his primordial spirit."

Elder Tu pondered deeply, his face clearly showing distress. To Chu Mo, it seemed that if it were possible, Elder Tu would not hesitate to take his disciple's place and endure the punishment.

For Elder Tu, the prospect of his Wind Walker being executed and facing such torment was even more painful than confronting it himself.

Such deep affection for a pupil!

Chu Mo sighed and did not hurry the elder, quietly drinking his wine while waiting for Elder Tu's response.

After a long while, Elder Tu sighed, "Set up the array."

With that, he stood up and left without saying goodbye to Chu Mo. His silhouette was filled with desolation, profoundly lonely.

The night passed without further conversation. Early the next morning, as Chu Mo awoke from his cultivation, he sensed that the mood within the Ancient Sword Sect was different.

It seemed filled with a joyous air.

With a slight sweep of his divine sense, Chu Mo knew what had happened.

"The Junior Master is coming back!"

"Junior Master has sent a message back, saying he's coming home."

"Our Revered Junior Master is coming back? That's great!"

"Senior Brother is finally willing to return home, I'm so happy."

This Windwalker, in the entire Ancient Sword Sect, clearly had a significant influence.

Chu Mo gave a bitter smile and shook his head, then once again entered a meditative state to begin cultivation. No matter what, he had never been negligent in his cultivation for a single day. Whenever he had time, his first task was definitely cultivation.

By noontime, the atmosphere throughout the Ancient Sword Sect had become even more intense. Many people outside were cheering and jumping for joy.

It seemed that the Windwalker had returned.

Chu Mo didn't go out; he didn't want to spook the snake in the grass, and he could sense that the Windwalker was very alert. His return, originally known only to Elder Tu alone, had been actively broadcast by himself to other people in the sect.

It's uncertain whether these people had let slip any information. This... would just have to depend on Elder Tu's command over the sect.

For the moment, it seemed that no one had relayed the information to Windwalker; perhaps those people simply didn't believe that their most revered person, the most powerful figure in the Ancient Sword Sect, could be associated with the Demon Clan.

Elder Tu's expression was not very good. Although no one in the sect had mentioned yesterday's events to Windwalker, he didn't understand why Windwalker had made such a show of his return.

Over the years, Windwalker had actually returned many times, but almost every time, it had been done quietly. Never before had he announced his return in advance, sending the vast majority in the sect, especially the younger members, into an excited frenzy to welcome him.

What was he trying to do?

In the distant sky, a figure, like a gust of wind, swiftly blew over.

Many just felt a breeze by their ears, then saw a tall, handsome young man already kneeling in front of Elder Tu, kowtowing, "Master, your unfilial disciple has returned!"

"Get up, come with me," Elder Tu commanded with a stern face.

The members of the Ancient Sword Sect looked at each other in confusion; they did not understand why the Great Elder was being so solemn. Did he really believe that bull**t from Chu Mo? Did he really think that Windwalker was with the Demon Clan?

Windwalker himself was also slightly startled, glanced at the expressions of the others, then at his own Master, and asked softly, "Master, what has happened?"

"Nothing, just follow me," Elder Tu's tone became severe: "Are you saying even your Master cannot command you now?"

Windwalker slowly stood up, the smile on his face gradually fading. Then, with slightly narrowed eyes, he sensed his surroundings, took two steps back, and said in a deep voice, "Master, why are you doing this?"

"What do you mean?" Elder Tu's voice grew angry.

The other cultivators of the Ancient Sword Sect also ceased smiling, their faces tense as they watched this scene unfold.

"Master, do you remember what your disciple told you back then?" Windwalker said softly, "I said, one day, I would make you see my greatness. And now, that day... is getting closer! The only way for me to prove my greatness is to become enlightened, to become a Supreme!"

At that moment, the other disciples of the Ancient Sword Sect were all staring at Windwalker, dumbstruck, their admiration replaced by shock, at a loss for words.

Windwalker, become enlightened? Become a Supreme? In this epoch? Was that even possible?

Elder Tu's chest heaved violently, and he couldn't hold back any longer, shouting coldly, "Become a Supreme of the Demon Clan? You fool! Wake up now!"

The wrath of a Quasi-Supreme, sounding like Thunder Shock, was earth-shattering!

The entire heaven and earth echoed with Elder Tu's furious roar.

This roar left all the disciples of the Ancient Sword Sect stunned, as if turned to stone.

Windwalker's emotions also became noticeably agitated as he said something earth-shattering, "So what if I become a Supreme of the Demon Clan? Is that not allowed?"

Everyone, in an instant, was completely dumbstruck.

Including Elder Tu. This Great Elder of the Ancient Sword Sect, who regarded him as if he were his own son. He seemed to have aged decades in a moment, his previously upright spine now bent over.

"Demon Clan, Demon Clan, Demon Clan! You day in and day out treat the Demon Clan as your eternal enemy, but do you even know what the Demon Clan is? Have you ever seen the Demon Clan?" Windwalker raged, his handsome face contorting, "I am the Demon Clan! Have I ever harmed you? Have I ever posed any threat to you? But you... ha ha ha, I've already contacted you in advance, telling you I would return, yet none of you... not a single one of you informed me about the changes in the sect. And you... my dearest Master, I regard you as a father, you are the closest person to me in this world! But what are you doing? Setting up arrays to kill me? Hahaha... Hahahaha. How interesting, truly interesting! There is nothing more desolate in the world than this!"
