Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 992: Master and Disciple Reunited

The villa, a small bridge, ancient trees, flowing water, below the pavilion.

Chu Mo, clad in azure robes, sat on one side of the table, opposite him was the Demon Lord, still handsome in his black attire. By the Demon Lord's side was Die, dressed in a red gown.

"Something the matter?" The Demon Lord watched as Chu Mo replied to a few words on the message board and asked a question. Had it been in the past, he probably wouldn't have asked, but now, with his beloved by his side, his state of mind had changed a lot.

"Two quite interesting young ladies want to join the Immortal Realm's Piaomiao Palace," Chu Mo said with a smile. "I met them in the Fantasia Realm back then, it seems I even broke up two couples."

The Demon Lord rolled his eyes and glared at Chu Mo, "With so many young ladies around you, why do you still philander everywhere?"

Die, standing at the side, covered her mouth and chuckled softly, "Who talks about their own disciple like that?"

"Madam, you're the best. You see, my master won't even give me a chance to explain," Chu Mo seized the opportunity to tattle directly. "Madam, you don't know how my master took me as his disciple back then..."

As he spoke, he disregarded the Demon Lord's scowling face and rattled off a string of complaints. Chu Mo knew his master's temperament all too well—a typical case of a stern exterior but warm interior, truly nothing to fear.

Die laughed as she listened, and in the end, she couldn't help but frown at the Demon Lord, "Do you always take on disciples like this?"

The Demon Lord pursed his lips, "What's wrong with that? You have no idea how stubborn this kid was back then; no matter how I scared him, he wouldn't comply."

"Hmm, he has been spirited since he was young." Die had been enchanted by Chu Mo's constant address of 'Madam', naturally making her view him more and more favorably.

Chu Mo looked at Die and chuckled, "Madam really understands me!"

"Understands bull!" The Demon Lord scoffed from the side, "Back then, he was just scared witless. A young brat suddenly encountering such a situation, he had no idea what to do. No matter how clever or calm one is, that all disappears in such circumstances. All that's left is a bit of stubbornness in his bones."

"..." Chu Mo had a face full of black lines, "Master..."

"Hmph, am I wrong?" the Demon Lord said.

"Right, right, right, everything you said is right," Chu Mo grinned, "I really was a bit scared witless back then; I was truly frightened to death. Normally, you might think there would be many ways to solve the problem, like... if you scare me, I'd just submit and kowtow to take you as my master immediately. But the problem is... when faced with that kind of situation in reality, who could still keep cool enough to think about the pros and cons? The only thought in my head was... I can't take this evil person as my master, otherwise it might be worse than death."

"You were having a brain fart, not afraid that I would've just slapped you to death then?" The Demon Lord sneered.

Chu Mo scratched his head, "If you really wanted to kill me, would you have wasted so much effort scaring me? The more I resisted, the more you probably wanted to take me as your disciple, right..."

"..." The Demon Lord glared, unable to utter a single word.

Die was already laughing uncontrollably at the side and said faintly, "I've figured it out. Both this master and disciple are quite peculiar. And, I take back what I said before, this kid wasn't scared witless back then, he was crafty!"

"Yes, he looks honest, but he's actually very cunning," The Demon Lord coldly chuckled, but anyone could see the satisfaction in his eyes as he looked at Chu Mo.

That memory was a shared one between the master and disciple.

Back then, the Demon Lord was in the lowest trough of his life, and Chu Mo... was just a naive young boy.

For the two to have met like this was... truly a twist of fate.

"By the way, Chu Mo, you haven't finished talking about those two young ladies. Let Madam help you think it over, to see if they are suitable to be your wives." Die, having no children with the Demon Lord, had already considered Chu Mo her own child even before meeting him. Her maternal instincts kicked in now as she took an interest in Chu Mo's lifelong matters.

"What are you meddling in this for?" the Demon Lord cast a glance at Die.

Die retorted, "As his master's wife, what's wrong with caring about the child?"

The Demon Lord immediately fell silent.

Chu Mo chuckled from the side, "It's nothing like what you think, Master's wife. It's like this..."

Chu Mo then explained to Die how he had picked Dragon Scales Grass in the Illusory Divine Realm back in the day and encountered those two young couples.

"That was a friend of mine just now. She's still in the Spirit Realm. She asked if I knew these two people, and I said I did. They're not bad," Chu Mo looked at the Demon Lord and Die. "Piaomiao Palace is a place I've prepared for those close to me as a refuge and a foundation for life."

"Good child! This is right," Die said. "In this world, no matter how strong a cultivator you are, you must have people following you. Even if you prefer to act independently, you must still have a powerful force supporting you from behind. If your master had such a force behind him back then, he wouldn't have ended up so tragically."

The Demon Lord remained silent, not objecting. Over the years, his mindset had changed, and many of the views he had firmly held were changing too. Especially now, with the whole Immortal Realm stirring with a tumult of factions targeting them, master and disciple, things would definitely not be as they are now if the Elixir Sect hadn't stood up for them.

Just the Elixir Sect standing with them was enough to deter countless others.

"Master's wife heard you have a bosom friend, and you've always been together? Why isn't she here?" Die asked Chu Mo.

Chu Mo's expression darkened, and he said softly, "I don't know where she is now. The problem with her is serious, and I am somewhat at a loss."

Everyone has moments of vulnerability, and Chu Mo was no exception. His mood dropped when he spoke about Qi Xiaoyu. Drinking with the Demon Lord, he shared the stories between him and Qi Xiaoyu.

In the end, Chu Mo got drunk.

Having seen Chu Mo back to his room, Die's starry eyes flickered as she looked at the Demon Lord and said, "This child, he has not had it easy over the years."

The Demon Lord said, "Without hardship, how can one grow?"

"It's clear, he relies on you a lot," Die said softly. "He also harbors too many secrets. Probably, the only person in the world whom he trusts this much is you."

The Demon Lord sighed lightly, "We, master and disciple, met at the lowest points in each other's lives. Yet, my regret is that in the years when he needed me most, I couldn't stay by his side." He would never utter such words in front of Chu Mo.

Die's eyes, tranquil as water, gazed at the Demon Lord, "You've been running around for me all these years; how could you have had the mind to do anything else? In fact... it's because of me..."

The Demon Lord held Die's hand, "I believe he would understand. Moreover, this is surely what he would want to see most. You don't know the temperament of this child. If he hadn't seen you this time, he would be more frantic than me. The Fu Family would likely be the first to bear the brunt of it."

"I believe, though it's been so many years before I saw him, when I look at him, I truly feel as if I'm looking at my own child," Die spoke softly. "It's a pity with my current condition, I cannot give you a child…" Her expression dimmed slightly as she spoke.

Holding Die's hand tightly, the Demon Lord laughed freely, "I have never cared about that. As long as you are by my side, that's all that matters. Chu Mo is like a son to me! Besides, this boy has great ability. He will definitely find a way to fully restore you!"

"Yes, I've heard about it, the honored guest of Lingdan Hall. How could someone who has the entire Elixir Sect wagering their fate and future in the Immortal Realm be an ordinary person?" Die said.

"That's why I say, meeting him, actually, it's my good fortune!" the Demon Lord said.
