Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 329: Closing the Case

"LAPD!"

"Stop the car!"

The shouts had no effect on the speed of the RV.

Luke and Jenny also got into a police car and gave chase.

The neighborhood roads turned into a high-speed chase scene, with the RV fleeing in front and several police cars in hot pursuit, drawing the attention of many local residents.

Luke wasn't worried about the suspect getting away; the RV couldn't match the speed of the police cars and was quickly overtaken.

But it wasn't easy to force the much larger RV to stop.

Luke communicated constantly with the patrol department over the radio, requesting them to set up roadblocks and spike strips ahead.

Luke had to consider not just capturing the suspect but also ensuring the safety of the officers and the public, trying to minimize the damage the car chase could cause.

A police car overtook the RV and continued at high speed. After surpassing the RV by a distance, it pulled over to the side, and two officers ran to the trunk to retrieve a spike strip.

As the RV neared, they threw the spike strip directly in its path.

With a "bang!", the tire blew out.

The RV began to tilt to one side significantly slowing down.

Suddenly, the RV swerved to the right, barreling into a field and crashing straight into a tree nearly one meter in diameter.

"Bang!"

The RV hit the tree, and its glass shattered instantly.

A silhouette flew out from the driver's seat, falling to the left of the tree and then skidding nearly ten meters, the body of a man landing in an eerie twist, his shoes flung off as well.

A black SUV stopped on the roadside, Luke got out to inspect, followed by several armed patrol officers.

The front of the RV was smashed, a fire had ignited inside, billowing black smoke.

Two patrol officers extinguished the flames with fire extinguishers.

Luke approached the man's body to inspect. It was covered in cuts, his neck was broken, his head bloody, and his face matched the suspect Franco Toure.

Jenny knelt beside, whispering, "Well, this guy got what he deserved."

Luke didn't respond, recalling the RV's trajectory, he thought the suspect might have crashed into the tree on purpose, possibly committing suicide.

Half an hour later, the forensic doctor and technicians also arrived to inspect the scene.

The ambulance took away the two kidnapped girls, and the police notified their families.

...

The following morning.

Robbery and Murder Department, Squad One.

Three suspects were successively arrested.

Among them, Soba Doyle (photographer) was an accessory, only responsible for shooting the video and unaware of the kidnapping process.

The main suspect Franco Toure died in the crash.

The interrogation focused on another suspect, Raul Jiputa.

Ten o'clock in the morning.

Luke and Jackson brought in suspect Raul Jiputa for questioning.

Luke sat next to the interrogation table, flipping through the interrogation file, "Name?"

The man of Indian descent across the table replied indifferently, "Don't you already know?"

Jackson sternly said, "Hey, be smart. Answer whatever you're asked, got it?"

The Indian man sighed, "Raul Jiputa."

Luke continued, "Why were you calling yourself Pex?"

"It's complicated to explain, emotions at that time were complex, including various reasons."

"Then explain something simple," Luke shifted his tone, pressing, "Did you kidnap the three girls Tayana Haney, Olive Browning, and Meili Gandhi?"

"I was only involved in the kidnapping of Olive Browning and Meili Gandhi, Tayana Haney had nothing to do with me. It was Franco Toure who tricked her in for the shoot and then sent her away."

"Who was the first you kidnapped?"

"Olive Browning."

"When was she kidnapped?"

"July 9th."

"Describe the kidnapping process."

"We had been watching her for a while. That night, she went to a friend's house for a party, and around nine in the evening, she left her friend's alone. There was no one else around...

We grabbed her, got her into the car, and took off."

Talking about the case, Luke still had some questions, "How did you manage to lure Olive Browning out of the party?"

"We didn't lure her, she came out on her own."

Luke remembered, "But according to Olive Browning's parents, they were supposed to pick her up from the party around ten that night. Why did she leave early?"

Raul Jiputa chuckled, "She got her period.

We only discovered it after getting her into the car. It was her first time getting it, and she got scared, too embarrassed to tell anyone else, so she called her mom."

When Luke heard the reason and thought about Olive Browning's unusual behavior, it all made sense. It was her first menstruation, and afraid of being seen by her classmates, she rushed out of the party and then called her mother.

But her mother was in the bathroom at the time, and it was her father who answered. Embarrassed to tell her father, she insisted her mother come to pick her up. Unfortunately, before her parents could get there, she was abducted by the two suspects who had been trailing her in secret.

"Why did you kidnap her?"

"For money. Her family is wealthy, especially in cash. So, we targeted her."

"You demanded a ransom from her parents but why didn't you collect the money?"

"Uh... The reason is... we were worried they'd call the police.

I told Franco to go, but he was too scared."
