Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 279 Said McKin_3

"Describe his characteristics?"

"He was wearing a black mask, a black man, about 185 cm tall, very strong, dressed all in black, I can't remember the rest."

"What was his purpose in attacking you?"

"He was investigating the murderer who killed Novina Jones."

"What clues did you tell him?"

"He asked me who might have killed Novina Jones, and I said I didn't know.

He seemed to know that Novina Jones had been beaten by a client, asked me the identities of those clients, and I... told him."

"Who are they?"

"Eddie Ross. He's a wealthy pervert who beat Novina Jones severely because she wouldn't cooperate. Afterwards, he compensated her with a large sum of money.

He really liked Novina Jones and wanted to see her again."

"Anyone else?"

"Said McKin. He's a black man, around forty years old, has a sick obsession with white women."

Luke noted down this man's name, "What about his contact information?"

Petrov thought for a moment, "I don't have his mobile number, but he likes to take girls back to his place. One time, he took Novina Jones home and beat her badly.

I've been to his house and gave him a beating."

"Did he ask about anything else?"

Petrov hesitated for a moment, "Yes, he asked a lot about the gangs."

Luke wasn't very interested in the Furry Bear Gang. By his estimation, the masked black man was asking many questions, probably to obscure his real motive.

And Petrov, who took the gang very seriously, might overlook the masked man's true motive.

...

Half an hour later.

327 Gil Street.

Two cars stopped near a two-story villa.

Luke, Little Black, Jackson, and Jenny got out of the cars one after another.

Luke instructed, "Jenny, Jackson, stay outside the house, Marcus and I will go ask."

Jackson asked, "Captain, do you think the masked suspect will come looking for Said McKin?"

"It's possible, best not to make a big show of it, if he senses the police are setting a trap, he might not dare to come." There was another possibility Luke didn't mention—that the masked suspect might have already been there, in which case this investigation could turn into a body recovery.

"Thud thud."

Little Black went to the door and knocked.

No response.

Luke, pressed against the wall, could faintly hear music, signaling Little Black to knock again.

"Thud thud."

"Who's out there?" A man's voice came from inside the house.

"Creak..." The door opened.

A black man in a bathrobe, smoking a cigarette, stood at the door, blowing a ring of smoke, "Who are you? Why are you knocking on my door?"

Little Black showed his badge, "LAPD."

"Wow... I don't deal with LAPD often, what do you want? Is it another boring neighbor complaining about noise?" The black man turned his head and shouted toward the living room, "Hey, baby, turn the music down a little.

Sorry, I just met a chick; she likes this kind of heavy metal music."

The man smirked lewdly, swaying his body, "She's a white girl, totally awesome, heh heh..."

Little Black "..."

Luke said, "Listen, we're not interested in your chick; we're here on official business. Can you let us in to talk?"

"No, can't let you in, she's not dressed..."

Luke didn't want to waste words, got straight to the point, "Said McKin, we're investigating a criminal case and were hoping you could assist."

"What does that mean? Why would I have anything to do with a criminal case?"

"Do you know Novina Jones?"

Said McKin hesitated, "No, I don't know her."

Luke saw that he was lying, "Hey, it seems you realize the importance of this issue. Let me give you another chance; do you know Novina Jones?"

"Uh..." Said McKin sighed softly, "Yes, I knew her."

"What was your relationship?"

"Nothing special, just saw her a few times, had a chat, and shared some thoughts," Said McKin said with a knowing look.

"On the night of September 15th, did you see Novina Jones?"

"No," Said McKin countered, "What happened to her?"

"She's dead."

"Oh my God, that's too bad, she was so beautiful, I always wanted to have a good talk with her again...

Looks like I don't have the chance now.

But what do you want from me?" Said McKin seemed to realize something, "Oh God, you don't think I killed her, do you?

I swear to God, I didn't kill her, definitely not."

Luke kept his eyes on the other man and saw that his expression did not seem to lie, temporarily ruling out the possibility that he was the murderer.

"If there's nothing else, may I go back now?"

"Said McKin, the situation is more complicated than you think.

Someone might be after you."

"What do you mean?"

"We've received information that someone is also covertly investigating the cause of Novina Jones's death, and you're also a target. If they catch you, they won't be as polite as we are."

"Who are they, what will they do?"

"Could be a friend of Novina Jones, seeking revenge.

The last client they caught is still in the hospital."

"Oh my God, that's terrifying, what should I do?"

"The police will protect you, but we need your cooperation."

"Are you serious?"

"Of course."

Said McKin looked panicked, "What do I need to do?"

"Considering your safety, we hope you can go to the station for protection, we will temporarily use your house to trap and capture them.

To ensure your safety."

Said McKin tapped his forehead, thinking, "Isn't there another way? I don't want to go to the police station."

"You can stay in your house if you want, but you must sign an agreement that any accidents that occur during this period are not the responsibility of the police."

"No no, I won't sign any agreement. I accept your suggestion, I'll go with you to the station." Said McKin sighed softly and pointed to his bathrobe,

"Could you give me a few minutes? I need to change my clothes and let my girlfriend know about this."

Luke gazed at him thoughtfully, "What's your girlfriend's name?"

"Shabana Fisher.

Does she need to go to the station too?"

Luke didn't answer and continued, "What's your name?"

"Said McKin. Is there a problem?

If there's nothing else, I need to change." The black man prepared to close the door.

"Bang!"

Luke blocked the door, "For your safety, I need to go in with you."

"Come on, you can't be serious, my girlfriend is in the living room with no clothes on." The black man winked and smirked,

"Although I don't mind much, she'll complain about you."

"I'm sure she'll understand, let's go in together." Luke's right hand was on his gun.

Before you knew it, the black man made his move, swinging his right hand swiftly like a shooting star.

Luke, worried the other man had a knife, dodged to the side.

The black man made a feint and closed the door.

"Bang!"

Luke drew his pistol and kicked the door open,

"LAPD!"
