Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 160 Capture

Michael's face displayed a conflicted expression.

The more he refused to speak, the more serious the matter seemed.

Luke tested, "Pari Jones has already chosen to cooperate with the police. If you don't talk, she will identify you all the same."

"Fuck, I knew I shouldn't have trusted that black woman," Michael cursed.

"Do you want to wait to be identified by her, or would you rather come forward and negotiate a favorable plea deal?"

Michael realized he could no longer evade, "I want an immunity agreement."

"As long as you give me an immunity agreement, I will tell you everything I know and turn over all the evidence."

"If I agree to give you an immunity agreement now, I'd definitely be deceiving you.

No one would offer you that kind of promise right off the bat.

You have to first disclose what happened during the incident. The police and the prosecution will consider the sentencing based on the actual situation. If your confession is sincere, it's not impossible to avoid charges.

But the prerequisite is that you must be honest, do not lie, and do not conceal anything."

Michael pondered, "What did that woman, Pari Jones, say?"

"Do you want the police to completely accept her testimony?"

"No."

"Then don't worry about her, just tell us everything you know. If you cooperate with the police, they will offer you a good plea deal."

"Can I trust you?"

"You have no other choice."

Pari Jones and Michael were on the same side. If one could break through one party, they could encircle the other.

Pari Jones was a journalist; she understood the law and knew how to deal with the police. Though she might have been involved in some gray areas, Luke guessed that her legal violations were not severe.

It wouldn't be easy to breach her psychological defenses, and it might even cause a news incident.

But Michael was different. He had a history of drug use, a criminal record, and was on bail, making him like a frightened bird.

Luke caught his illegal behavior during the bail period, which had already caused him to panic and reveal part of the situation regarding the Dracula Bar murder.

Making him believe that Pari Jones had already confessed would increase his psychological pressure.

When Michael was brought back to the detective bureau, his psychological defenses completely collapsed.

Many suspects act tough outside but became meek once inside the police station, "Detective Chief Luke, I indeed know some more information and am willing to confess proactively."

Luke took him into the interrogation room, "Michael, you can speak now. This is your last chance."

"That night, I parked my car at the back door of the bar because I wanted to have some fun at the bar.

Parking behind the bar meant I didn't have to pay for parking, but the downside was that it might attract car thieves.

So, I was quite attentive to the movements at the bar's back door. I heard some noises outside and went out to check.

I saw a woman lying on the ground with two bloody holes in her neck and blood on the ground; it was frightening.

I quickly ran back to my car because I had a dashcam in my car. I checked the surveillance from the dashcam, which captured that horrific scene."

"What did it capture?"

"The video is in my phone; you can watch it," Michael took out a video from his phone and handed it to Luke.

Nicole also leaned over to look.

The video was indeed from the back door of the bar, and the lighting was somewhat dim.

Nicole was standing at the bar's back door making a phone call; after hanging up, she seemed hesitant, and then it looked like she sent a message, appearing much relieved after.

She put away her phone and was about to leave when the bar's back door suddenly opened. A person clad in a black cape burst out, heading straight for the unsuspecting Nicole.

"Ah…" Nicole's scream followed.

Nicole was knocked to the ground, the person in the black cape appeared to be biting her.

Soon, Nicole was motionless.

The person in the black cape also stood up, paused for three seconds on the spot, then ran away into the distance.

Combining this video with the testimonials from Nicole's father and Laura, Luke roughly guessed Nicole's cause of death.

Nicole had been frightened by vampires since she was young and harbored a fear of such unknown creatures.

Yet, she was not someone who knew how to refuse.

Laura had invited her to the bar, and she had accepted.

But that didn't mean she liked it; on the contrary, she despised and even feared this vampire-themed bar.

Taking the chance to step outside to take a phone call, she thought to find an excuse to leave the bar.

Just after she sent a text to Laura and breathed a sigh of relief.

A 'vampire' burst from the back door of the bar, heading straight for her to maul her. In the dim light, such a situation could startle anyone.

Nicole was literally scared to death.

Luke raised his head, looking at Michael, "Continue."

"After that, I thought about calling the police, but my situation was a bit awkward, and I wanted to use the video to make some money.

Later, I made contact with Pari Jones through a friend and sold the video to her.

You all know the rest."

Luke shook his head, "I told you not to conceal anything."

Michael defended, "I haven't concealed anything."

"Where is the black backpack that was on the victim? The attacker didn't take the backpack after attacking Nicole."

Michael fell silent again.

Luke approached the interrogation chair, his tone serious, "I've said Pari Jones has already confessed. You didn't just give her the video, both you and I know that. If I have to bring it up myself, you won't have a plea deal."

"OK, I'll tell you. I took the black backpack."
