Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 135: Accident (Two Chapters Combined)_2

David handed his phone back to Luke, "Later, you'll thank me."

"I'm thanking you now." Luke flipped him off before taking the phone and moving aside, "Hey, Julian, I hope that jerk David hasn't ruined your mood."

Julian accused, "David said you didn't go to work today, you lied again. You big liar, remember what you said last time? You'd never lie to me again."

"Heh heh, baby, it's not that I'm lying to you, it's David who's lying. If I weren't at work, how could David have answered the phone?

You know I can't stand him, I don't even want to see him at work. If I weren't working today, I'd be damned to spend time with him.

He's an asshole, always likes to bully and mock me.

If you believe what he says... I'd be heartbroken." Luke said sincerely.

Jullian seemed convinced, "Sorry, baby, you're right, I let anger cloud my judgment.

You told me how David always loves to cross you, I shouldn't have trusted someone else so easily."

"That's exactly why I'm heartbroken, you don't trust me, instead...

I gotta go back to work, Detective Chief Luke is calling me again." Luke said, then hung up the phone.

With a smug look, Luke told David, "You know? The moment you answered the call you were actually helping me.

Did you really think I didn't know what you'd say?

It doesn't matter what you say, what's important is that you were with me, heh heh."

David sighed, "He really deserves a beating, will you stop me?"

Luke laughed, "If you beat him now, Julian will only feel more guilty, might even blame you, and it would all backfire."

Luke said, "Exactly, if I'm injured, it just reinforces your violent persona, and Julian will trust me even more."

David became even more dejected, "Julian will find out sooner or later, up the bet to two thousand, I'm on."

"Two thousand it is, who's afraid?" Luke replied and then looked over at Marcus, "And you?"

"I'll stick to the original amount," Marcus replied, not too keen on gambling, "Besides, if you put as much brainpower into solving cases as you do chasing girls, you'd be Detective Chief Marcus by now."

Luke took a swig of his beer with a triumphant smile, "You're just jealous."

"Ah..."

"Pervert."

Suddenly, a shout rang out from a distance, stirring the crowd.

Some people went to check out the commotion, others ran outwards, chaos erupting on the beach.

The bikini-clad girl lying on the beach, sunbathing her back, was also drawn in, instinctively sitting up to see what was happening.

"Wow... not bad at all." Luke gaped.

Marcus nodded in agreement, "Nice catch."

The bikini girl, seemingly aware of the exposure in front, covered herself with her hands and then lay back down on the beach blanket.

Only then did Marcus shift his gaze to the distance, where a Caucasian man with a Spider-Man mask, streaking across the beach.

Luke laughed, "I bet that idiot definitely lost a bet."

Marcus chuckled, glancing at Luke and David, "You guys want to change the bet?"

Luke sneered, "I really don't want to see him."

David said, "Go to hell."

Hope Community.

Bubble Tea Shop.

After school, chubby Jack didn't rush home, but went on a date with his girlfriend at the bubble tea shop instead.

Today was chubby Jack's birthday, and he was exceptionally happy.

Thinking about the birthday gift he would soon receive made him excited.

Maggie sipped her bubble tea and pulled out a box from her bag, "Jack, this is the gift I have for you, I hope you like it."

Jack took the exquisite box, admiring it, "It's such a beautiful box, Maggie, thank you for the gift.

But, isn't it a bit early to give it to me now?

I invited you to my birthday party, it would be more appropriate to give it then."

Maggie hesitated, "I just feel... it might not be suitable for me to attend, after all, I don't know your family, they might not like me."

Chubby Jack grabbed Maggie's hand, "Hey, why would you think that?

I've already told them about you, they will definitely like you, I have no doubt about that. I want you to come, they're eager to meet you too.

I can't wait to introduce you."

"Ah..." Maggie was still hesitant.

Chubby Jack continued, "Maggie, this is my fourteenth birthday party, it's very important to me.

If you don't come, the party would be incomplete. I want you to know that."

"You really think so?"

"Of course, without you there, the party would be meaningless."

"OK, you've convinced me."

"Thank you, thank you for agreeing to come to my birthday party, it's going to be a unique one." Chubby Jack's face lit up with joy.

"Ah... Do I need to change my clothes?"

"No no, your outfit is lovely as it is, you're the most beautiful girl in all of Los Angeles, my angel."

Maggie asked, "What time does the party start, should I do anything?"

"No, you don't need to do anything... I'm not quite sure myself... they haven't said anything.

They probably want to surprise me, you know."

Maggie nodded, "Sure, one year on my birthday, it seemed like my parents had completely forgotten.

I was a bit disappointed, but when I got home that evening, everyone was there, and the house was decorated like a fairytale castle, I still remember it."

"Right, that's the idea." Chubby Jack said aloud, feeling unsure inside. He took out his phone from his bag, "I'll give my mom a call to check in, I don't want to receive another pair of socks or a toy as a gift."
