To avoid alerting the bomb maker, vehicles outside the slaughterhouse gradually left, appearing relaxed on the outside but tense within.
Half an hour later, Reid also arrived at the slaughterhouse.
Since a bomb was discovered, it was very likely related to terrorism, although it couldn't be confirmed yet, Reid felt it necessary to inform the relevant departments.
There are many counter-terrorism departments in America, and their jurisdictions often overlap with each other.
Domestically, the most common counter-terrorism agencies are the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.
After a ten-minute phone call, Reid decided to inform the FBI, just to give them a heads-up.
After all, the FBI is part of the police department, and their cooperation is more extensive.
Of course, discovering a bomb doesn't necessarily mean it's absolutely related to terrorism.
So the police will continue to investigate the case and apprehend the murderer of Anette Stone.
4 PM.
Matthew investigated Anette Stone's communication records and found an Asian woman with the surname Inoue.
Nami Inoue, an intern at CBS Television.
Before becoming an independent investigative journalist, Anette Stone was a news reporter at CBS Television, so they could be colleagues.
If Anette Stone was really killed for investigating a major news story, then Nami Inoue might know something.
Half an hour later, Luke and Marcus arrived at CBS Television to investigate.
Outside the CBS Television building, they got out of the car, and Marcus looked at the building, a bit lost in thought.
Luke asked, "What's up with you?"
"Nothing, just suddenly thought of Pari Jones, it feels like it's been so long, I wonder how she's doing now?"
"Hasn't she contacted you?"
"Since getting married, I've blocked all my ex-girlfriends. I'm not really keen on seeing her either, it's just that seeing the TV building made me feel nostalgic.
A lot happened this year.
A year ago, I wouldn't have believed I'd get married.
Yeah, probably no one would believe it," then unexpectedly asked, "Luke, have you ever thought about getting married?"
"No, I won't consider it before thirty, as for after thirty, who knows."
"What if, like me, your girlfriend gets pregnant and insists on having the baby?"
"Then I'd give her enough child support," Luke and Marcus had different circumstances. First, Luke is wealthier than Marcus, marriage or not doesn't affect raising a child.
As long as you have money, it's no big deal.
Secondly, Luke thinks Marcus, because of his own upbringing, gets a bit over-corrected.
They entered the CBS Television building, the newsroom is on the seventh floor, and the elevators are divided into even and odd floors.
The elevator doors opened, but before everyone inside left, people outside already started pushing in, squeezing Luke and Marcus into the corner.
Marcus didn't like this feeling, muttering, "Why does it feel like everyone here is so busy?"
A Black woman with a reporter's badge said, "Because if you're a minute late, the news might become old news, so we must race against time,"
The elevator stopped at the seventh floor, the Black woman got off, and gave Luke and Marcus a glance.
Marcus rubbed his chin, smiling, "This damned charm."
He sighed lightly again, "For a married man, that's also a burden,"
Luke ignored the narcissist and walked towards the reception desk, but no one was there.
Luke looked around, the hallway was bustling, the offices on both sides were partitioned by glass, looking chaotic.
"Why do they look like they're all staring at us?" Even Marcus knew something was off despite being self-absorbed.
Luke also noticed this, "Let's find someone to ask."
A white girl in her 20s walked over not far away, with a reporter's badge around her neck, and she looked at Marcus and Luke with the same curious gaze.
Marcus waved proactively, greeting her, "Hi, do you know me?"
"No, I don't know you."
"But I feel like you were looking at me."
"Sorry, I wasn't looking at you." The white female reporter's gaze passed Marcus to Luke, "Hey, are you Detective Chief Luke?"
Luke asked back, "You know me?"
"Most people on this floor know you, I'm Cathy Canero, also a news reporter, nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too." Luke smiled and asked, "Do you know Nami Inoue?"
"Oh, yes, I remember she's a newly arrived intern reporter, she should be in the third office to my left."
"Thanks." Luke nodded, ready to leave with Marcus.
Cathy Canero handed over a business card, "Detective Chief, this is my card, nice to meet you."
"Likewise." Luke politely accepted the card.
Luke gave Marcus a signal.
Marcus handed over his card, "I'm Detective Chief Luke's partner, also the liaison officer for the Robbery and Murder Department."
"Wow, so you're Detective Marcus, nice to meet you." Cathy Canero took the card and smiled broadly, being able to meet a detective face-to-face and get their card was quite satisfying.
The Robbery and Murder Department always handles major criminal cases. Just getting some inside information and reporting it at the right time might make the news headlines.
It's a great news source for a journalist.
As for Luke, he's not someone she could easily win over.
