Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 500: Cooperation (Part 3)

So, I've decided to go treasure hunting myself.

But I don't have any treasure hunting experience and I'm worried about danger on the way, so I want to hire you to accompany me."

"You want me to be your bodyguard?"

"No, not just a bodyguard, but a partner. I hope you can get involved in the treasure hunt, help me strategize, and ensure my safety.

Apart from a two hundred thousand US Dollar commission, if we find the treasure, you can also get a quarter."

"Why choose me?"

"You have treasure hunting experience and are well-respected in Los Angeles, trustworthy.

Maybe in a decade or so, I can brag to others that I once went on a treasure hunt with the Los Angeles Police Commissioner."

"Haha." Luke laughed, this hit the nail on the head, "You're quite charming."

"Did you agree?"

Luke didn't answer, instead asked, "Where did you get the treasure map?"

"I got it from my grandfather, he collected some treasure maps, it wasn't too difficult.

He always encouraged younger generations to participate in outdoor adventures, thinking it would build courage.

But no one was interested in his treasure maps.

Though he never said it outright, I know he was somewhat disappointed.

He truly hoped that someone in the younger generation would inherit his interests and aspirations."

"Knock knock..." The door sounded.

The door was pushed open from the outside, and the waitress began serving the dishes with a tray.

There were two plates, a vegetable salad, a fruit platter, and two glasses of milk.

The waitress closed the door and left.

Lilith said, "Hope you enjoy tonight's dinner."

Luke ate a blueberry, "Tastes good."

Lilith took a sip of milk, "Do you have anything else you want to ask?"

"How many people will be involved in the treasure hunt this time?"

"I envision three to five people."

Luke laughed, "I thought you might organize a team of over ten people."

"No, that would lose the essence of adventure treasure hunting, my grandfather is just old, not slow."

Luke said seriously, "What if disagreements arise during the treasure hunt?"

"We can discuss it and choose the best plan."

"What if we can't agree?"

"Listen to me."

"Do you have any outdoor adventure experience?" Luke expressed doubt.

Lilith shrugged, "No."

"What if you're wrong?"

"Firstly, I'm not a stubborn person, I'm good at listening to others' opinions.

If a discussion can't resolve it, it means the two plans have no obvious pros or cons. At that point, the most important thing is not to have two voices in the team.

As long as everyone works towards one direction, I'm sure we won't fail." Lilith added softly,

"I know what you're trying to say, I won't put everyone in danger.

I'm more afraid of dying than you are."

Besides meticulous planning and preparation, luck plays a crucial role in treasure hunting, so whether it will succeed is uncertain. So Luke decided to ask for a better deal first, "I want three hundred thousand commission plus a third of the treasure."

Lilith said, "The treasure map is mine, and besides, I'll be bringing other treasure hunters onboard, so only a quarter of the treasure can be given to you.

However, I can increase the commission to four hundred thousand US Dollars."

Luke thought it over, with the four hundred thousand commission, it's worth it, "OK, I can feel your sincerity, but I've just taken on a case and can't leave immediately."

"I also need time to choose the remaining treasure hunting partners and make some preparations, we can discuss the departure time later."

"OK, I accept this commission." The other party offered enough sincerity, so Luke didn't need to refuse the money.

"Ring ring..."

Luke's phone rang, he picked it up and saw it was the deputy's number on the screen, the old man rarely called him.

Most likely the case has made progress.

He stood up and said, "Miss Finn, take your time eating, I have to get back to work."

"Lilith, my friends all call me that."

"Nice to meet you, Lilith."
