Chapter 1327: Full Retreat of the Defensive Line

As expected, my own choices are the best.

The defense capabilities of my Royal Capital are fully automated. Even the external defenses, whether my Giant Demon Statues or those Magic Dolls, are all automated and not under human control at all.

Though it seems a bit rigid, I can gradually improve them later on.

Even if my descendants turn out inept, I believe these mechanisms will still serve some purpose.

Enough of that, no point in overthinking now.

"Since they have already retreated, the front line is considered completely collapsed. Keep close contact with Sephidya, and send back any orders at the earliest opportunity."

Xi Fei nodded in understanding: "Should we inform the master about this as well?"

This 'master' term Xi Fei learned from somewhere refers to Zhao Guang's father, Zhao Feng.

Zhao Guang thought for a moment and nodded, saying, "Inform him. After all, he enjoys analyzing these things every day now." How his father became so obsessed with these matters is beyond comprehension.

Other than bettering myself daily, I hardly have any other hobbies.

Looking at the map, with this retreat, the Lusis Empire will retain less than a third of its territory.

Although they still promote themselves as an Empire, in reality, neither their territorial size, population, nor any other aspects qualify them as one anymore.

The gathered information shows that those people still maintain their pride.

Maintaining that noble demeanor in such circumstances, they truly are an old Empire.

Shortly, various adjustments from the front lines came through, just as I expected.

Due to the collapse of the Lusis Empire, the front lines began a frantic withdrawal. Even if the defenses on both sides hadn't collapsed, adjustments would still be necessary now. Some areas must be abandoned, or else the Undead can't be stopped.

But the people in those areas aren't as prideful as the Lusis Empire; they had already begun evacuating gradually from the start.

Once the retreat order was given, all personnel quickly left with the last of the resources.

If it weren't for facing the Undead, this would indeed be a perfect scorched-earth strategy.

Of course, this doesn't mean the people of these countries are content. On the contrary, having retreated from their lands, it's uncertain when they can return.

Even if they could return someday, whether their citizens would follow remains unknown.

The future is full of uncertainty; it's unclear if they can maintain their status.

In such a scenario, the Xuanwu Empire is gaining considerable recognition instead.

Despite the Lusis Empire's inability to fend off the Undead at home, the Xuanwu Empire, from a distance, provided some support, helping neighboring small countries withstand them.

If the Lusis Empire hadn't collapsed on its own, the defenses on both sides would still be stable.

Truthfully, the defenses on both sides are much longer than those of the Lusis Empire.

The Undead attack in massive waves, with no specific focus, essentially deploying a human wave strategy. While high-level Undead are held off, the lower levels still manage to breakthrough.

This clearly demonstrates the ineffectiveness of Lusis Empire and highlights the strength of Xuanwu Empire.

It's crucial to note that Xuanwu Empire isn't only defending against ordinary Undead; their Floating Battleship has hunted numerous Legendary Level combatants, making them shine in high-level battles.

As retreats are ongoing, they're also performing better than the Lusis Empire.

This humiliating state of the Lusis Empire thoroughly exposed their weakness.

If it weren't for the pressing enemy threat, many would consider attacking the Lusis Empire.

They've exhausted their ties with the Demigods, and even annoyed them. Their own Legendary Strongmen didn't stay, and the rest found excuses to leave, unwilling to heed them.

The few remaining are closely tied to their Great Nobles and the Royal Family.

Despite this, they must continue to fend off the Undead Beings at the front. If they dared to pull back due to their own agendas now, they'd genuinely become everyone's target.

"With each retreat, the efforts to hold back for so long are now mostly wasted."

Looking at the constant incoming reports, Zhao Guang sighed.

"At this rate, I'm afraid the Lusis Empire might not withstand much longer. By the way, have they requested assistance?"

Xi Fei shook her head: "Haven't heard of any requests, nor any stronger defenses arranged by the Alliance."

"From the information we've gathered recently, it seems the Lusis Empire rejected our offer of help, quite firmly. They believe they can hold on with their own strength."

"Why?" Zhao Guang found it bewildering, especially as he'd proactively offered help this time.

"It appears they think we're using this as a ruse to take over their nation, hence their worry that our troops would harm them."

Zhao Guang felt this was absurd; what were they thinking?

Even if he had such intentions, what could be done now?

With everyone focusing on the front lines, doing anything like that would immediately draw everyone's ire.

These folks aren't just stubborn; it's almost like a mental issue.

"Fine then, if they don't want it, I won't force my help on them," Zhao Guang shrugged. His goodwill towards other nations was met with such mistrust.

"Nonetheless, we must remain vigilant, as the current defenses might not hold."

"That's the Alliance's stance too, and they're building a new defensive line at the rear."

Probably the Alliance also didn't anticipate Lusis Empire behaving this way despite the situation. Initially planning to let them fend for themselves, they didn't expect the Empire to insist they weren't thoroughly defeated.

Even the Alliance is abandoning them, continuing to secure new defenses at the rear.

The situation in the Lusis Empire is puzzling; initially, many lacked confidence. Now that it's come to this, many are instead convinced they won't have to retreat further.

The more Zhao Guang learned about their mindset, the more baffled he became. How did weakening the nation, reducing the defenses, and complicating the terrain lead them to believe they could withstand it? What kind of logic is this?
