Immortal Creed

Chapter 108: Gerr's Sword (2/2)

The scene changed.

Upon re-entering the Instance , Liens eagerly rushed out.

Due to his provocative actions, a fierce battle between the two sides immediately erupted, and Liens continued to fight Gerr as he wished.

Seeing her uncle in a "bitter struggle," Denise, who was in the rear, wanted to use magic to help Gerr, but the old man stopped her.

"He's just a Dark Guard with some skill; Gerr can handle him, and he doesn't like anyone interfering in his battles."

"So, you should save your magic for others."

"If the efforts of two Extraordinary Ones are focused on a mere Dark Guard, it wouldn't be good for the current situation."

"Although the Glenbagen Family's training methods are very brutal…"

"Anyone who comes out alive from such circumstances is a master, so don't be careless."

The old man explained.

Seeing Denise still looking somewhat worried, the old man continued, "Don't worry… I'll be watching."

Hearing this, Denise also put down her worries and focused on using offensive and buffing magic to help her allies.

As for the others, seeing the scene of chaotic sword winds, they wisely kept their distance to avoid being caught in the crossfire.

This was also why Liens and Gerr's battle in the previous Instance round was undisturbed.

"Clang!"

Liens's longsword struck the spine of Gerr's greatsword, causing the greatsword's swing trajectory to shift slightly, increasing his evasion space.

At the same time, he put force into his body and thrust a sword at Gerr's face with extreme speed.

Gerr tilted his head to dodge and simultaneously took a step back, causing Liens's subsequent follow-up slash to miss as well.

Gerr continued to swing his sword horizontally, realizing that Liens was somewhat difficult to deal with, and decided to bring the battle back to his familiar territory.

In response, Liens also gave Gerr what he wanted, being forced back to a certain distance.

"It's about to begin!"

Liens thought to himself.

If the instructor's swordsmanship was like water, then Gerr's swordsmanship was like wind.

The instructor's attacks were continuous and constantly accumulating power, like an ever-growing torrent that eventually breaks through a dam.

Gerr, on the other hand, was like the wind; seemingly wide and open, yet getting faster and faster, eventually becoming as dense as a net, restricting the opponent's movement and forcing them to endure his attacks.

This was an excellent swordsmanship for a greatsword, which emphasizes weight over agility.

In the previous Instance round, Liens fell under such swordsmanship, and this time, he would use his "wind" to counter Gerr's "wind."

"Clang!"

"Clang!"

"Clang!"

Liens continuously swung his longsword, clashing with Gerr's slashes, and even as Gerr's sword speed became faster and faster, Liens could precisely meet him, not missing a single strike.

Although due to the difference in strength and weapon types, his sword-holding hands were bleeding from the vibrations.

Each collision felt as if he had collided with a sledgehammer.

His arms hurt so much that he had the illusion they were about to break.

But apart from these, Liens survived Gerr's onslaught almost completely intact.

As time passed, Gerr gradually realized the problem: the Dark Guard in front of him seemed to always anticipate the landing point of his greatsword.

This was not a quick reaction given by "swordsmanship instinct," but rather like knowing the answer beforehand.

"You saw through my swordsmanship?"

Apart from his initial remark, Gerr spoke to Liens again.

He frowned tightly, his eyes showing a hint of disbelief.

He had never seen this person before, nor had he ever fought him, and now, after only a few rounds, his swordsmanship had been seen through?

How strong of a talent, and how deep of an understanding of swordsmanship, would that require?

"Wind… Your sword seems to be breaking the wind, but in fact, it has always been swinging with the wind."

"You use your own strength to unleash sword wind, and at the same time, you use continuous sword winds to form a whirlwind centered on yourself."

"After that, you only need to swing your sword along the trajectory of the whirlwind."

"That's why your sword is so wide and open, seemingly without rules, but in reality, it has already dragged the prey into the net."

Liens responded to Gerr while panting, parrying and dodging Gerr's attacks.

His hands and longsword were giving out a bit; he needed to do some dodging to relieve the pressure.

And this action was actually not a very good choice.

Because if he kept not clashing with Gerr's greatsword and letting his attacks disrupt the sword wind,

Gerr's greatsword would only intensify, eventually reaching a point where he couldn't block it even if he tried, and couldn't dodge it in time.

This was also why he continued to meet Gerr's sword even after seeing through the landing points of his greatsword.

Therefore, he had previously judged Gerr to be an even more powerful existence than the instructor.

This swordsmanship was too unfair; you had to accept Gerr's attacks, and it was best to do so early.

As for how to find the landing point of Gerr's attacks, one only needed to see through the trajectory of the wind.

This was very difficult, but Liens had already accomplished this with his Life in the previous Instance round.

The proof was the sword marks he left on Gerr's armor in the last Instance .

"You are a genius… Unfortunately, you have already been branded with the Glenbagen Family's Slave contract."

"And since you have become an enemy, an existence like you cannot be let go."

"You have a high chance of posing a threat to the Peg family… So, die!"

Gerr said with a cold expression.

The greatsword, following the trajectory of the wind, slashed at Liens with faster and fiercer strikes.

"Crack."

Liens's refined longsword finally couldn't hold on any longer and broke into two halves under that strike.

Liens retreated at extreme speed, dodging another of Gerr's attacks, then pulled out two scrolls from his embrace and tore them open.

As the magical light flashed, a cyan light appeared on Liens's body, along with a faint light barrier.

Liens knew that the barrier formed by a Sanctuary Scroll alone would not be able to block Gerr's attacks.

But he only needed to block for an instant, giving himself a chance to escape Gerr's attack range.

Liens's gaze was like a torch, seeing through the trajectory of the sword wind, seizing the opportunity, and rushing towards a direction behind him.

Indeed, that seemingly solid barrier was like glass under Gerr's sword, directly shattered.

But it did cause the greatsword to pause for a moment, and that was enough for Liens to get away.

"Stop, don't run!"

Gerr shouted at Liens.

But was Liens really running away? How could that be!

Liens's figure, like a swift wind, directly charged to the side of a Dark Guard, and before he could react, Liens swung his broken longsword, severing the Dark Guard's sword-holding right hand.

Immediately after, he kicked the Dark Guard away and then caught the longsword falling from mid-air.

"Ah…"

The Dark Guard, feeling intense pain, awoke from his astonishment and then let out a tragic cry.

And this scene astonished everyone present who witnessed it, including Gerr.

However, Liens couldn't care less about that.

He held the new longsword, pointed it at Gerr, and calmly said:

"Come on, let's continue with the next round."

"You…"
