North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 534: Admitting Defeat (Part 2)

Chuck nodded with the cup in hand, took a sip, "You're efficient."

Jimmy raised his hand to check his watch, "A few more minutes, you guys take a break on the side."

Chuck led the young men to a nearby seat, while Jimmy sat in his usual spot in the corner with his cup.

-----------------

Soon, the Poison Snake Gang arrived, Jimmy watched two cars stop outside, and all four people got out and walked into the bar.

Woody came out from behind the bar to greet them: "Welcome. This way, please."

Jimmy remained seated, not getting up to greet them. The four people who entered happened to be ones he had seen in both photos and in person: the leader of the Poison Snake Gang, Francisco Montello, his deputy Miguel Rodriguez, Liliana Morrison, and Max Hamilton, whom Jimmy had found the night before.

Under Woody's guidance, the four walked towards Jimmy's spot, with Francisco Montello at the front, surveying the bar as he entered, looking at the guiding Woody beside him, and the Chinese man sitting by the corner table, likely Jimmy, along with two white men, one older and one younger, seemingly part of his crew.

Looking over at Chuck and the others, Montello kept his gaze fixed on Jimmy, his expression serious, without a trace of a smile.

Jimmy: "Sit. Woody, whiskey."

Francisco Montello sat opposite Jimmy, while the other three took the adjacent table. Woody returned to the bar, poured drinks for the four, and brought them over on a tray.

Montello: "Good afternoon, Mr. Yang."

Jimmy: "Viper Montello, where's the person I want?"

Montello: "Mr. Yang, I'm here to apologize. My people made a serious mistake."

Jimmy: "Go ahead."

Montello: "My people noticed someone was tailing them, so they arranged to intercept, intending only for a minor scratch to stop the car, but it went wrong. We didn't know she was your fiancée, due to our oversight. I'm deeply sorry. Lily."

Beside him, Liliana opened her bag, took out a file envelope, and placed it on Jimmy's table. Montello gestured to the envelope with his right hand, "A small token, please accept."

Jimmy: "You know who I am, don't you? What are you planning?"

Montello opened the envelope, tipped it over, and a Mercedes key fell out. He then took out some documents: "Just a small token, no other meaning, merely compensation for your fiancée's loss of the car. It's all legally purchased, guaranteed with no issues. She just needs to sign, and the car will be transferred to her name."

Jimmy: "Take it back, I'm not so poor that I can't afford a car for my wife. Don't force me to throw it out."

Montello: "I'm sorry, my mistake." He waved his hand, and Liliana took back the documents and car key.

Jimmy: "Where's the person I want?"

Montello: "The person who crashed the car is Jack, he's still in detention. This is his brother, Max."

Max stood up, bowed apologetically to Jimmy: "Mr. Yang, I'm very sorry for this incident, it's entirely my fault, whatever decision you make regarding us, I'll accept it. I'm sorry."

Jimmy: "The other person?"

Montello asked puzzled: "The other person?"

He turned to look at Liliana, and she said: "Mr. Yang, the case of the bank executive's shooting wasn't done by our people, I don't know who did it."

Jimmy: "Need me to remind you? Why did your gang's Lightning appear at the scene during the incident? You won't deny this Lightning is one of your people, will you?"

Montello: "Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. Lily, explain."

Liliana: "Sorry, I'm not clear on how this case relates to us, perhaps our person just happened to be nearby at the murder scene."

Jimmy: "What about the Lightning?"

Montello: "Sorry, I didn't know he was involved today, so..."

Jimmy looked at Montello, "Have Lightning go to the detective bureau tomorrow to find Detective Chuck. Is that fine?"

Montello nodded: "No problem, I guarantee it."

Jimmy looked at Liliana: "Liliana, where's your gunman?"

Liliana was nervous, she glanced at Montello then at Jimmy: "I don't understand what you're saying."

Jimmy: "Need me to remind you? The building under construction... the waitress..."

Montello sternly questioned: "Lily, what's going on?"

Liliana: "Sorry, Francisco, I didn't inform you in advance. Mr. Yang, she's not ours, simply working as a waitress at the restaurant."

Jimmy: "Do I look like a fool to you? You're using this excuse to try to deceive me?"

Montello: "Tell me."

Liliana: "Emma was temporarily arranged by someone to stay with us, she needed a job, so I let her work as a waitress at the restaurant."

Montello: "Who?"

Liliana: "Mrs. Perkins."

Montello took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, looked at Jimmy: "Sorry, Mr. Yang, I can't give you this person."

Jimmy: "Reason?"

Montello: "We're just a small gang, with only some insignificant roles, there are people we can't afford to provoke, Mrs. Perkins is one of them."

Jimmy looked at Liliana: "So, did she commit that case?"

Liliana: "I don't know."
