North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 402: 324 Kind-hearted Haitian gang_3

Ruiz sighed, "I've arranged two surveillance teams, but without informants, it's now very difficult to catch them red-handed."

Jimmy sighed as well; this was indeed a tough issue. He still remembered the look of anger on Ruiz's face back then. Even though it was about being outwitted, Jimmy believed the real reason was the disappearance of those two informants. Over the past six months, Jimmy had come to be sure of one thing, Ruiz was the type to place great value on loyalty. The pained expression he had when speaking of his informants was definitely not just about losing an informant who had defected from the mob.

Jimmy said, "I'm heading back now. I've got an appointment at the support squad's shooting range, and it's about time."

Ruiz asked, "What are you going there for?"

Jimmy replied, "To practice shooting, I've been using a .357 Magnum, but I plan to try out the .44 there."

Ruiz was speechless. Did you think that your gun lacked power? But it seemed quite interesting too. Ruiz had been present during Jimmy's demonstration.

Ruiz said, "OK, I'll go with you."

Jimmy said, "Alright, then I'll go home to get my gun first."

Jimmy took a Gunman's gun and rushed to Staten Island with Ruiz. With Ruiz by his side, Jimmy was more successful and easily borrowed S&W M29, M69, Ruger Blackhawk, Colt Python, as well as two boxes of forty .44 Magnum bullets from the shooting range.

"Try this one first, 'Dirty Harry'," Ruiz said unabashed, handing over the M29 to Jimmy from the firing station.

"Dirty Harry?" Jimmy looked at Ruiz, puzzled.

"You don't know? A 70s movie, well, it's too early for you. Anyway, try this one first."

Jimmy changed the bullets and fired a single-handed shot at the 15-meter target with the .44 Magnum. Boy, the .44 Magnum really packed a punch, that sound, that recoil, it was exhilarating. Jimmy felt he might have thought wrongly; Roland and the other Gunmen could use .45 as their standard rounds, and could wield a gun in each hand because their physical strength was truly exceptional, beyond human. For Jimmy, it was out of the question; his physique was too far behind Roland and the others. Firing single-handedly was no problem, but achieving his previous firing speed with the .44 Magnum was absolutely impossible.

Jimmy continued to aim, this time wielding the gun with both hands, and fired the remaining five bullets. After ejecting the spent cartridges, Jimmy flexed his fingers to assess the feel. It seemed that rapid firing wasn't impossible, but he had to use both hands.

After reloading, Jimmy tried rapid firing again. Ruiz watched Jimmy shoot, rather impressed. He had used those guns too, but he still preferred a 9mm semi-automatic pistol. He had no particular liking for revolvers. Watching Jimmy shoot made him itch to try it himself. During a break in Jimmy's shooting, Ruiz also picked up a gun and bullets, heading to the neighboring lane to test it out. Indeed, his Glock felt better in his hands.

Jimmy didn't try the other guns but instead took out the Gunman's gun he had brought, loaded a bullet, and tested his shot.

After one shot, Jimmy recognized a problem. This gun should have no issues withstanding .44 Magnum rounds, just like Roland's; both were old-school models that had been modified to use revolver cylinders instead of their former fixed chambers.

The issue was that the grip of classic revolvers was further back and the angle of holding had changed as well, meaning the direction of the recoil was inconsistent with the gun he was currently using. Although he could overcome it with some training, it felt a little awkward for now. It looked like he would need a lot of practice to get used to it, to familiarize himself with the recoil and aiming baseline. More importantly, Roland had given him two guns, which was the standard Gunman setup. He had always used a single revolver before, but now he would have to practice shooting while dual-wielding. Maybe he should consider having a couple of custom-made underarm and waistband holsters.

Packing away his own gun, Jimmy began to play with the range's guns, which were free to use, and decided he ought to use up the bullets he had applied for. It would be a waste otherwise.

Jimmy picked up a Colt Python and began loading it. He had always used the S&W series, but upon holding the Colt Python, Jimmy suddenly felt that this gun had a really great grip.

After a round of test firing, there was a hiccup while reloading. He was used to pushing the release button, whereas the Colt had a pull-back model, different from his usual habit. What a pity, especially since in terms of the feel when shooting, the Colt Python felt much better than the M29 he had just used.

After Jimmy and Ruiz used up all their bullets, they returned the guns to the range master and left the training facility.
