Jimmy raised his hand in greeting, "I'm Jimmy Yang. Did Roland leave any message for me?"
The black man said, "Just this case. He said he was tired and wanted to go home to rest. This is a parting gift for you." Then he handed over the case to Jimmy.
Jimmy took the case, which was not heavy. It looked like a rather large leather suitcase, but it actually weighed only a few kilograms. "Thank you. May I ask, what is your relationship with Roland?"
The black man shook his head, "I'm just an ordinary person. I'm going back now, goodbye."
The black man turned and left, and Jimmy watched his figure until he disappeared around the corner.
Jimmy trusted Roland very much. Since he had sent it, it must be something important. He did not open the case outside but drove straight home, even though it was still a weekday. An occasional day off from work was acceptable.
Jimmy examined the case carefully. There was nothing special on the outside. Only then did he open it. Inside, there were two revolvers, similar to Roland's, situated opposite each other. In the middle, there was a crystal ball, and they were all secured with leather straps at the bottom of the case. Underneath the grip of the guns, there was a piece of paper which Jimmy pulled out to read first.
"Jimmy, I have gone back to my hometown. I have grown old and don't want to leave this place anymore. These are two guns I found from a former battlefield; they should be enough for you. I hope you will treat them well. I haven't figured out a way to enhance your physical abilities, so I found the Black Rainbow, hoping it might be of some help to you. Roland Deshan."
Roland had said before that he was not a person from this world; it seemed that no matter who it was, everyone hoped to return to their roots in old age. What about himself? Where were his own roots?
Jimmy looked at the note left by Roland, feeling inexplicably sentimental. He had come to this world more than three years ago, and although he seemed to have integrated into it, he still felt somewhat out of place. In fact, he had always been drifting with the current, floating in this world. Even though he had been through a lot, he had never really taken root, nor did he know where he could go when he got old.
Jimmy folded the note and set it aside, then picked up a revolver for a look. The cylinder was empty. He glanced into the barrel and saw that the rifling was clearly visible, indicating it had little wear, but the appearance of the gun showed clear signs of use. It seemed that like Roland's gun, this one was also made from a Holy Relic.
Just in time, with these, Jimmy also had the capability to confront supernatural incidents like Resentful Spirits, assuming that these guns really worked the same as Roland's. It seemed that Roland still held some hope for him to carry on the Gunman legacy, otherwise he wouldn't have sent two guns over.
As for the crystal ball, Jimmy turned it over and over in his hands, but it seemed fairly common, similar to the kind you would find in stores. The only abnormality was the black substance flowing inside, which looked very mysterious, or rather eerie.
Jimmy stored the guns and crystal ball away, then took out the padding from underneath the case and placed it in the safe, securing the guns and crystal ball neatly. Whether useful or not, they were gifts from Roland. Jimmy needed to buy a caliper to measure the dimensions of the cylinders and the bore diameters of the revolvers so he could determine what kind of ammunition to use.
(The previous storyline has been revised; I will not include any movie plot from now on, only using it as a background for original stories. I apologize for the previous chapters.
Because I was a bit upset today, it led me to delete a batch of comments from the book club. I apologize and it won't happen again.
I am releasing this chapter early as a scheduled post today, hoping you can see my apology sooner.)
