North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 384: 316 Thrilling Speculation_2

Moreover, he had just discovered a chilling clue—why was it Ivan asking the questions? Damn, he was a former KGB agent and a current high official of the Embassy. He couldn't afford to think about this any more; thinking too much would spell big trouble.

And why had Frank and the others shown no reaction at all? Were they incapable of thinking of the questions that even he could contemplate? This was even more terrifying!

Tom, what are you up to? Earlier, you had told me to stay away from Frank, and now you've pushed me right into his arms. This has done nothing but increase my worries.

Soon, they had crafted a plan, and Jimmy came over, "Sorry, I've thought it over, and I'm going to back out now. Kidnapping the Vice President is really something I can't be involved in."

Frank and the others turned to look at Jimmy, "Reason?"

Jimmy sighed, "Two years ago, I just saved the Vice President from a suicide bombing, and last year I received a commendation from the Special Service Bureau. Now, to ask me to kidnap the Vice President is something I just can't do; I can't overcome this psychological barrier. Although I know you guys will definitely go ahead, I really can't bring myself to do it."

Frank and the others exchanged glances, then nodded to Jimmy, "Alright, you can go back to New York for now. I'll contact you after we've handled this matter."

Jimmy nodded, "Then, goodbye everyone. Don't worry, I will keep it confidential."

Jimmy picked up his coat, left the cabin, got in his car, and drove back to Victoria's villa. The car for this operation was a black car arranged by Victoria—for his rented car was too conspicuous to drive directly to the scene.

Jimmy tied a stick to the accelerator of the black car, letting it drive into the bay and sink underwater, then switched to his own car and left Victoria's villa.

On the road, Jimmy turned on his phone and looked up Agent John's number. Although they had only met once six months ago, John might still remember him. Jimmy made the call and John indeed remembered him—though it might just be that his name was saved in the phone.

John, "Hey Jimmy, long time no see. What brings you to call me at this time? Something up?"

Jimmy, "Hey John. I have some vacation days recently and we're pretty close by, so I thought I'd catch up with you."

John, "Oh, welcome. Are you in DC already?"

Jimmy, "Not yet, just trying to schedule a time first. How about it? Are you free?"

John, "Sorry, we can meet, but I won't have much free time. Contact me when you're near the White House."

Jimmy, "The White House? You got promoted? Congratulations."

John, "It's just a change of position, that's all. Anyway, goodbye."

Jimmy hung up the phone, pondering the situation. Actually, Frank and the others had often mentioned the Special Service Bureau during their planning, which had reminded Jimmy of John. Originally, they had little interaction, just a collaboration during a Vice Presidential assault incident, so their relationship was not that close.

Since Frank and his group intended to target the Vice President, getting some information from the Secret Service agents protecting the Vice President might be possible—after all, he was not openly associated with terrorists. Although they wouldn't leak anything, he could still make some deductions.

John's transfer to the White House was a bit puzzling now. Plans change, and he might as well use this visit to maintain relationships rather than link everything to interests and plans.

Jimmy arrived in Washington after dark, found a hotel to stay, and the next morning he returned the car before putting on his normal clothes, armed himself, took his credentials, and hailed a taxi to the White House.

The White House is a well-known landmark. Although entry is not possible, many people still like to take some photos from the outside. In a large lawn, the White House stands with uniformed armed guards and suited Secret Service agents visible from the perimeter to the lawns.

Outside the White House, Jimmy called John, and after a while, John came out from the side, waved to Jimmy, and they walked to a cafe next to the square.

John, "Jimmy, what got into you to suddenly look me up?"

Jimmy, "Ah, nothing much, just finished a work trip handling a case, and with a couple of days off, I was passing by and thought I'd drop in to see you. I'm surprised, John, I thought you'd be at Observatory One."

John smiled and sipped his coffee, "I was indeed there, but was transferred here two months ago. It's a normal internal rotation, nothing special."

Jimmy turned his head toward the White House, then back to John, "How is it? Isn't the White House quite special?"

John, "You know I can't talk about that."

Jimmy, "Sorry, sorry, actually, there is something I need your help with, but now that you're on duty at the White House, let's forget it."

John, "What is it? Let's hear it."

Jimmy, "You know I joined the FBI. A month ago I just became permanent. Previously I participated in a witness protection detail. Although nothing happened, I still feel I lack a lot in terms of protecting a witness, and you guys in the Secret Service are experts in this area, so I wanted to come and ask for some advice."

John raised an eyebrow, "Are you looking to advance your skills?"

Jimmy nodded, "Although I know it's greedy to ask for too much, it would be great to learn some tricks."

John, "It's not out of the question, but I can't just tell you privately. It would be best if you go through official channels, maybe spend a few days at the training field."
