Chapter 375: 313 go on a field trip_2

The reason I didn't warn everyone earlier is that the box clearly poses no harm. The effect generated by the box mainly makes the surrounding plants appear greener and seem to grow better. People in Tata Town and those camping by the river have no problems at all. In fact, he's quite doubtful if this thing is precious because even in broad daylight it can attract resentful spirits from the river to come and snatch it.

Even if such benign anomalous items were taken away, they shouldn't cause too much trouble, so at that time he just hinted to Lambert that there was something wrong with the item and didn't inquire further afterward.

Jimmy looked at Priest Horton, "Priest Horton, have you been keeping it here in the church since you brought it back? Have you noticed any anomalies? Even small ones count."

Priest Horton shook his head, "No, it's been very quiet these past two days."

Jimmy, "Then should we consider moving it to a different place for storage? After all, this is a church and there are many Holy Relics, maybe it's being suppressed?"

Horton's brow furrowed; indeed, he hadn't considered this before. He turned to look at the skull, then towards Lambert, "Lambert, do you have a quiet place where we won't be disturbed? Preferably with no residents around."

Lambert nodded, "Send it to my farm then, I'll have someone clear out a room."

They packed up, and Priest Horton even brought his own box, probably the same one his Apprentice had held during the last Exorcism. Since they didn't know how long they would stay, his Apprentice had to remain at the church to preside over daily activities.

Lambert's farm was huge, and for the sake of this damned box, he specifically arranged for his family to all drive to Dallas or Houston for fun, leaving the farmhouse empty to prevent any issues from affecting his family.

They emptied a small storage shed, placed the box, the skull, and two unopenable books on a table in the middle of the shed, and as for themselves, they lived in the main house, taking turns to keep watch over the activities here.

Lambert couldn't stay for too long. After waiting for two days he returned to Dallas, and Priest Horton brought in two Apprentices to facilitate night shifts.

On the third night, the anomaly finally appeared. Jimmy was on duty from the afternoon to midnight. However, by 9 o'clock, he spotted threads floating in the air.

Jimmy shouted, "Priest Horton, come quick!"

Horton and an Apprentice immediately ran out from the main house. The other Apprentice was probably resting, and it took him a few minutes longer to come out.

Priest Horton arrived next to Jimmy, "What did you find?"

Jimmy looked at Priest Horton in surprise, "What? Oh, sorry, I wanted to ask, you can't see the threads in the air, can you?"

Priest Horton's eyes widened, standing outside the shed looking toward it, but still, he saw nothing. "The box." Horton called out; the Apprentice behind him handed the box to Priest Horton, who opened it and took out a very small bottle, only the size of a thumb, poured a drop of liquid on his finger, and applied it to his eyelids.

"Oh, Father!" Once Horton saw, he turned his head to Jimmy, his eyes gleaming, "You can see these directly?"

Jimmy pursed his lips and shook his head, "Not directly, I need to focus intensely, and the duration is very short."

Priest Horton nodded, then shook his head, "You are very gifted, now I'm even more certain. What a pity..." Priest Horton truly felt sorry for Jimmy now. With such a talent, if he had entered seminary from childhood, after several years of training, he would become an extraordinary Exorcism Priest. But now Jimmy was too old, and going to seminary to study would be difficult, especially gaining loyalty.

Priest Horton turned back towards the shed, taking advantage of the medicine's effectiveness while it lasted, he opened the door and went inside to find the source of the threads. However, it seemed the medicine's effect was not strong enough; he couldn't see where the source was. Although there were differences in concentration, his medicine was not effective enough to observe where the thickest concentration of the sparse threads was.

Jimmy walked over, pointing towards the forehead of the skull, or rather, the brow area, about that distance. "This should be the source of the threads."

Priest Horton looked back at the Apprentice, "Do you feel anything amiss?"

The Apprentice shook his head; Jimmy said, "I had a theory about these threads before. This should be a beneficial anomaly. You can look at the aerial photos I requested earlier. In the forest where the box was buried, the plants affected by the threads appear greener than the others, which also suggests these affected plants are growing better and have stronger vitality. Of course, this is just my conjecture."

Priest Horton nodded, "If it's indeed as you say, it could really be a beneficial change. But why would there be auditory hallucinations and other anomalies in the evidence room? For example, surveillance cameras being interfered with?"

Jimmy, "One possibility is that this beneficial anomaly isn't just good for plants; it could also attract other paranormal entities like resentful spirits or other creatures. Those anomalies could be caused by other spirits. But because they are too far from their source, too weak, they only affected a few people and interfered with the surveillance."

Priest Horton, "Hmm, that's possible. We'll observe for another couple of days. If there are no other abnormalities, we will return. I will send this for thorough examination."

Jimmy nodded, "It's time to switch shifts, I'm going to rest, your people can keep watch here."
