North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 354: 305 Unexpected Gains

Jimmy and Chris drove to East New York in Brooklyn. Mobile phone location services couldn't pinpoint an exact location, just a general area including several apartment buildings.

Seeing this, Jimmy was somewhat puzzled. He parked the car on the roadside, got out to observe the surroundings while taking out a pack of cigarettes to smoke. Although standing by the roadside wasn't an issue, having something in his hands made it look more natural.

As Jimmy observed the environment, he was already scanning the people in the apartment buildings. However, New York was truly crowded, and there were many people in this building. He could only see figures without any meaningful details; it was impossible to discern their faces.

Jimmy went over to Chris's car, leaned on the window, and said, "Chris, can I request a surveillance team?"

Chris replied, "Of course you can, but it can't be for too long, one or two days is still okay."

Jimmy said, "One or two days is fine, just to monitor and check Manny Morley's whereabouts here since his mobile is here, he should be too."

Chris said, "If you're sure, I will contact the field office in Queens to see if there's a surveillance team available."

Jimmy nodded, stood up, and continued observing the passersby. Regarding coordinating with the surveillance team, Chris would definitely handle it. Jimmy was now aware of Chris's role; he was like an insurance combined with a caretaker assigned by Hughes. Unless necessary for cracking the case himself, Jimmy could let Chris assist with everything else.

This time, Manny had really presented Jimmy with a dilemma. This area in East New York actually had many terraced houses. However, Manny's cell phone was located near one of the few apartment buildings in the area, which was slightly frustrating for Jimmy as he could have handled terraced houses by himself.

After the surveillance team arrived, Jimmy briefed them on Manny Morley's situation and left his mobile number for them to continue tracking. He and Chris then left. The surveillance team had a tough job, but each had their specialization. Using agents for such long surveillance was simply a waste of resources.

For instance, Peter's team consisted of three people. Peter, Jones, and Diana, with Jones handling their part-time surveillance. However, Jones usually only did short-term surveillance, like half a day or a day. If long-term surveillance was necessary, they would still call in another team.

Unlike others, Jimmy was currently handling only one case. With no leads on this case, there wasn't much he could do. Chris went back directly to the office, while Jimmy hurried to Kennedy Airport. He had received an anonymous text the previous night asking him to pick someone up at the airport. Recalling a call from Tom a couple of days earlier, there was no doubt that 'Jack Jones' in the text was an alias for Tom.

Jimmy, who usually didn't pick up people at the airport, realized as he stood at the arrival exit that many greeters were holding up signs with names. He hadn't even thought of that. With so many people waiting at the arrival exit, it was difficult for the arrivals to spot who was there to pick them up without a sign.

There wasn't much he could do but wait. Fortunately, although Jimmy was wearing sunglasses and a suit, his Asian appearance was quite noticeable among the people there. As long as Tom looked carefully, he should be able to spot him in the crowd.

The reason Jimmy wasn't trying to identify Tom among the arrivals was that Tom was technically a dead man now using a different identity likely with makeup. As a seasoned CIA agent, such basic disguise maneuvers were expected. God knows what Tom could be disguised as, so it was better to hope Tom would identify him in the crowd.

"Hey, Jimmy." While Jimmy was lost in thought, suddenly someone called out to him. He glanced over, and thought, this isn't makeup, this is transformation, Tom.

Tom used to look like a middle-aged Mediterranean man with average height, but now, he had transformed into a middle-aged artistic type with long hair tied back in a ponytail, wearing a long coat over casual suit, a scarf around the neck, and carrying a soft briefcase. Everything was fine except for the wig. You could have chosen something less conspicuous. A middle-aged man, long hair, tied at the back – just how bold are you in your heart, not knowing how eye-catching this look would be?

"Hey, Jack, let's go." Jimmy greeted him, and the two started walking to the parking area.

"Is the car cleaned out?" Tom asked Jimmy when they were in a secluded part of the parking area.

Jimmy replied, "The office just assigned it to me a few days ago, been handling the case with it, haven't checked yet, but it should be fine."

Tom asked, "Do you still have your ID card?"

Jimmy replied, "At home, in the safe, very secure."

Tom said, "Okay, give it to me later, I need to take care of something at the Anti-Terrorism Bureau building."

When they reached the car, Jimmy lit a cigarette and continued chatting, "Can my card be used there? Is the Anti-Terrorism Bureau's system directly connected to the CIA's?"

Tom replied, "Yes, officially it's a new department, but it's really just a name, it's actually a division."

Jimmy said, "Where do you need to go? I'll drop you off first."

Tom replied, "Let's go to your place first, I have to arrange follow-up matters."

Jimmy drove Tom to his apartment, which was registered under Jimmy's own identity, openly accessible in the records, and there was no concern about keeping it confidential.
