North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 293: 270 Training

Roland seemed to suddenly become very excited, and Jimmy felt a bit dizzy. Previously, Roland had always been quite unresponsive, eerily calm, as if nothing could interest him, but after discovering Jimmy had the Flash Spirit talent, it was like he'd found a new world.

Roland stared at Jimmy with wide eyes. Over the years, Roland had always cared deeply about Jimmy's departure. Since adopting Jimmy, he had been mentoring him, hoping he would take up the Gunman's legacy and ensure its continuation. Unfortunately, Jimmy had failed in the end. The Gunman's creed was to protect, and Jimmy's actions back then were driven by hatred.

Now, this Jimmy bore no hatred and possessed the Flash Spirit talent, which he himself hadn't been aware of for years. If it was true, then perhaps the Gunman's legacy wouldn't die with him.

Roland pointed to the room inside, "What do you see in there?"

Jimmy turned his head to look inside the room, "A bedroom, there's a wardrobe about 2 meters wide to the left of the door, there's a bed in the room, with a desk and a chair by the bed, and there seems to be a rack on the wall to the right of the door, it looks like it's holding some bar-shaped items."

Jimmy turned back to look at Roland. "Did I get it right?"

Roland nodded his head, then furrowing his brow he said, "It seems to be true. Why didn't it show before?"

Jimmy shrugged; he was completely unaware of the past events. Whether this Flash Spirit, which he had named Heart Eye, was innate to his former self or something he brought with him during his journey between worlds, nobody could really tell.

Roland stood up, "Let's go test your talent." He picked up his holster from the desk, put the gun in its place, and took Jimmy to the shooting range.

The familiar shooting range was still littered with shell casings; it looked like Roland practiced frequently as his gun didn't wear out, so he didn't have to worry about its lifespan. Jimmy, however, had it different; his M686-1 was just a randomly picked gun from the shop, and he had roughly estimated that it had fired at least 2000 bullets, its lifespan at most being around 3000 bullets; in reality, it was already near its end.

Roland walked up to the targets, placed a few cans and bottles there, and then stood beside Jimmy, "Close your eyes and recite with me."

The two aimed their guns, though Jimmy's eyes were closed.

"I don't aim with my hands, those who aim with their hands have forgotten their father's face, I aim with my eyes."

"I don't shoot with my hands, those who shoot with their hands have forgotten their father's face, I shoot with my soul."

"I don't kill with my gun, those who kill with a gun have forgotten their father's face, I kill with my heart."

Jimmy recited these three phrases along with Roland. Roland was standing to Jimmy's right. He fired from right to left, while Jimmy shot from left to right, and they hit four bottles smoothly, but the fifth bottle remained upright on the target.

Jimmy opened his eyes, looked at the target, then turned to Roland.

Roland, "Yes, you're right, I knocked your bullet off course."

Jimmy, "How is that possible? Why?"

Roland, "Being a Gunman is not just a profession but a legacy. We start our training at a young age, but innately you still have some deficiencies.

We're all human, but in my world, humans are stronger, more powerful, more agile, and possess greater spiritual power, so for us, seeing the trajectory, changing the trajectory by shooting, or even knocking down incoming bullets is possible, but you're not ready yet, your body isn't sufficient to complete the Gunman's qualification trial."

Roland put the gun down and replaced three bullets.

Roland, "I just want you to have a deeper understanding. If you wish to inherit the title of Gunman, you need to work harder to become stronger."

Jimmy was somewhat speechless. Shooting another bullet out of the air at such a short distance was a clear challenge for him, a mere ordinary person, unaware of what kind of freaks inhabited the world of Gunmen.

Roland, "The gun is our weapon and also our partner. To complete the Gunman's qualification trial, you need to choose your own gun, only there isn't a suitable one for you now."

After finishing his speech, Roland suddenly paused, shaking his head, "There's no longer a Gunman's qualification trial, I am the last Gunman."

Jimmy, "Do I have to become a Gunman to extend my abilities to the gun?"

Roland, "I'm not sure about the abilities of Flash Spirit, as we've never had such a power before. You have to believe in your weapon, your partner, believe you can fire a fatal shot, believe your abilities can adhere to the bullets during Demon Extermination. Belief is a difficult thing to express; it can only be understood through personal experience."

Jimmy closed his eyes, aimed his gun at the last bottle, and didn't shoot but focused his Heart Eye on the bottle, concentrating on it in his mind. After a while, he suddenly saw a thin line appearing in the range of his Heart Eye, aligning with his aimed direction. Jimmy fired, and in his Heart Eye, he could see a straight line piercing through the bottle, disappearing beyond the range of the Heart Eye.

Jimmy opened his eyes, holstered his handgun, and stared at the revolver, feeling as if his Heart Eye had upgraded in that moment, guiding the trajectory for him.
