North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 646: The Groomsmen in Position

Here in Washington, D.C., things are more convenient for Jimmy. He had previously leased a parking space long-term, where he left a car he bought here. After not driving it for several months, Jimmy checked and found that aside from tires being low on air, there were no other issues.

After washing the car, inflating the tires, and refueling at the gas station next to the parking lot, Jimmy checked the time, found a hotel in D.C. to rest for the night, and drove to Mrs. Waltz's cabin in the woods the next day.

Jimmy parked in front of the cabin, carried the backpack Tom gave him to the door, and knocked. He already saw three people inside, one of whom was in a wheelchair, definitely Mrs. Waltz. It'd been so long since he last visited that he forgot her physical features.

A middle-aged man came to open the door: "Who are you?"

Jimmy smiled and said, "I'm Jimmy Yang, here to see Mrs. Waltz. I bring greetings from Tom."

"Let him in."

Just as Jimmy finished speaking, he heard Mrs. Waltz's voice from inside. The man at the door smiled slightly and stepped aside.

Jimmy bowed slightly and said "Thank you," then walked into the room.

Mrs. Waltz smiled and said, "Jimmy, it's been a long time since you came."

Jimmy: "Mrs. Waltz..." Mrs. Waltz's expression changed, "What did you call me?"

Jimmy's observational skills were still sharp, and he immediately corrected himself: "Grandma Waltz, I came to see you."

He went directly in front of Mrs. Waltz, knelt on one knee, and reached out to hold her hand, "How are you doing?"

Mrs. Waltz smiled again, "I'm fine, but recently, very few people come by. It's a bit quiet. Come, sit beside me."

Jimmy got up, pulled up a chair next to him and sat beside Mrs. Waltz, "Sorry, Grandma Waltz, a lot happened last year. I'll visit you more often in the future. By the way, I met Tom before coming here. He asked me to send his regards."

Jimmy took the backpack, pulled out the gifts from inside, feeling a bit uneasy since the stuff he took out seemed a bit unimpressive, as they were all snacks, "These are from Tom, but... he asked me to convey a message, ahem, 'Please control yourself, don't eat too much.'

The smile on Mrs. Waltz's face grew wider, "He still remembers what I like. Don't worry, I'm just old, not yet senile." After speaking, Mrs. Waltz picked up a small piece of chocolate, unwrapped it, and put it in her mouth without chewing, letting it slowly melt.

Seeing that Mrs. Waltz was in a good mood, Jimmy took out an invitation he had prepared in advance from his backpack and smoothly talked about his matter, "Grandma Waltz, last year I got engaged, and this May is my wedding ceremony with Nia. I hope you can come and bless us."

Mrs. Waltz smiled and shook her head, "Jimmy, I know my health. I can't travel anymore. I may spend the rest of my days in this cabin. I won't attend your wedding, but remember to bring Nia to see me later."

Jimmy: "No problem, I'll bring Nia over. By the way, Grandma Waltz, I want to ask, should I send an invitation to Mr. Andrew? You know, I'm not very familiar with him."

Mrs. Waltz patted Jimmy's hand, "It's enough that you have the intention. Leave the invitation with me, and I'll have someone deliver it for you. Since you've already decided to leave this circle, don't contact him publicly anymore."

Jimmy nodded, "Understood, then I won't invite Deputy Director Thomas either."

Mrs. Waltz: "Yes, you're doing well in the FBI, with great prospects, so don't step back into this field."

Jimmy continued chatting with Mrs. Waltz. The middle-aged man who opened the door for him earlier came over with coffee, and Mrs. Waltz said, "Jimmy, this is my son Patrick, and you've met my grandson Sam before."

Jimmy stood up and shook hands with Patrick, "Jimmy Yang, currently a Senior Agent at the FBI's New York office."

Patrick shook hands with Jimmy, "Patrick, a professor at Michigan State University. You guys chat, I have something to deal with."

After Patrick said this, he left, leaving Jimmy to continue chatting with Mrs. Waltz.

After a while, Jimmy got up, went outside, and took a few invitations from the trunk of the car. They were originally intended for Andrew at the DIA and Deputy Director Thomas at the CIA, but now he doesn't need to deliver them himself. They probably wouldn't come even if they received the invitations.

Jimmy handed the invitations to Mrs. Waltz, asked her to have them sent, and then took his leave.

His relationship with Mrs. Waltz is rather complicated, calculated from his grandfather's generation, but in reality, the relationship should be counted from Tom's side. If Mrs. Waltz were to choose between Jimmy's grandfather and Tom, her student, she would definitely choose Tom.

But regardless of which line, it's his duty to maintain the relationship. Besides, given the current situation, Mrs. Waltz probably doesn't have much time left. She is one of the key people who can confirm his family identity, and staying connected is always beneficial.

Driving back to Washington, D.C., Jimmy checked the time and called John Butler from the USSS. Since he was already there, he thought he'd meet him as well. However, luck was not on his side; John had left Washington, D.C., today with the presidential security team. He had no choice but to send the invitation by courier later.
