Happiness quickly fades again under the pain of missing an arm and a leg, with the dark mana still trying to disintegrate everything around the affected parts. I focus on removing the excesses of its affinity and Laws until I am left only amputated; at that point, I begin healing both limbs.
Am I almost out of mana? I had been so focused on the fight this whole time that I never checked my mana source. I notice Glia is still giving me a little of hers. My arm and leg reappear, and I confirm with small movements that everything is in order.
A few seconds later, Glia shows up, and before I can thank her, I'm caught off guard. She bites my hand. "That's for not controlling yourself." Her voice isn't only loaded with frustration—I can feel the sadness in her words and expression.
"I'm sorry, Glia." I bow my head in apology. Running out of mana and getting injured was entirely my own carelessness, though it was impossible to come out unscathed. Still, I have to show some maturity for my younger sister.
"You should feel lucky to have me around." She lets go of my hand and lies down on my lap. She lowers her gaze for a moment before locking eyes with mine again. "Tell me the rewards, I want to know the rewards." Her Imra changes completely; now she's excited to hear what I got.
Right at that moment, the notifications arrive in my mind.
"Congratulations! You have completed level 8 of the Fallen Hero's Dungeon! Your rewards will be calculated in one minute." I tell Glia about the one-minute wait, and she looks a bit disappointed. Do all kids love rewards this much?
"Don't worry, it's only a minute, we can check the other notifications in the meantime." I haven't looked at a single notification since starting the first level, deciding to wait until I finished it. Let's see how much I've improved in this short time.
"Glia, finally, finally." I want to jump and run around in excitement. "I finally leveled up two more skills to level 20—they can now advance to rank (IV)!" I shout in excitement, and she gets just as happy for me.
"You had four of them close to level 20, right?" She starts bouncing on top of me. "Which ones reached level 20?" The impatience is clear in her voice and on her face.
"Before I tell you, let me give you the smaller news first." I need to build some suspense. "Sharpness of Death has gained two levels." Seems fair—it's a rank (IV) skill, and according to my grandmother, it takes a lot of time and effort to level it up.
"The other skill that gained two levels is Vital Synthesis—it's now only two levels away from reaching rank (IV)." Glia congratulates me. "The other two have each gained four levels." I explain about Crushing Zone and Mana Interwoven Weave. Finally, it's time to tell her which skills have reached the required level.
"They are: Fortified Construction and Unified Malleable Mana." I'm truly happy to have finally leveled them up enough to advance to the next rank. But for a moment, I find this strange—why didn't I gain at least one level in the other two skills? Am I holding back my own process? Something I'll need to think about and ask my family.

I mentally press to advance Unified Malleable Mana to the next rank—it's one of my core skills, and I want to know what it will become.
"Calculating conditions…" "Mana quantity and control: Approved." "Imra quantity and control: Approved." "Compatible Pseudo Law or Law: Approved." "Advancement approved. Do you wish to rank up?"
I approve the option mentally and feel information pouring into my mind, knowledge that helps me use my new skill and abilities.
"Unified Malleable Mana (III) has transformed into Mortal Arcane Construction (IV)." With the knowledge in my mind, I forge a Joyeuse—it's created in a single instant, almost effortlessly. Adding death mana to all my constructions feels natural; that must be what the word "mortal" signifies in my new skill.
I test it by creating other things—spheres, various objects—and in all of them, adding my death affinity and Law is effortless. I'll have to be careful in the future.
I tell Glia about what happened. "I see…" She approaches and examines my constructions closely. "Can you maintain it without the death affinity?" I confirm, and she lets out a relieved sigh. "Then there's no problem, brother—just be cautious when you're around others." I take her advice and mark it as a mental note.
"Let's move on to the other skill." We're both eager to see what I'll get from it.
When I mentally press to rank up Fortified Construction, something different happens in my head.
"Do you wish to evolve Fortified Construction (III)? A relationship has been detected with the skill Mana Interwoven Weave (III); both skills can be fused." The surprise washes over me. Without thinking too much, I decide to evolve them—it's pure curiosity.
"Calculating conditions…" "Mana quantity and control: Approved." "Imra quantity and control: Approved." "Compatible Pseudo Law or Law: Approved." "By fusing Fortified Construction (III) and Mana Interwoven Weave (III), you have obtained: Warlike Architecture (IV)."
The mental information shows me my new skill—it still focuses on creating mana channels to strengthen my constructions, while the other part involves weaving mana to make them tougher and more durable. It makes sense that they fused after this dungeon; I've been using them for a while and nearly perfected them in battle.
I can understand the word "Warlike"—most of my constructions are meant for offensive or defensive use. I almost never use them for mundane purposes. The omnipresent voice knows my tendencies and found that fusion of words to be the best choice.
I tell Glia, and she's happy for me. We give each other a tight hug to celebrate my achievements. I can't build anything right now because of my lack of mana—testing my previous skill almost drained me dry.
My new status looks like this: Maki: 12 years old – Advanced Emerald SKILLS: • Sharpness of Death (IV) – level 6 → level 8 • Warlike Architecture (IV) – level 1 • Mortal Arcane Construction (IV) – level 1 • Electrifying Charged Steps (III) – level 10 • Dominion (III) – level 19 • Frozen Core (III) – level 19 • Vital Synthesis (III) – level 16 → level 18 • Crushing Zone (III) – level 2 → level 6
Laws and Pseudo Laws: • Yin-Yang Law: Life and Death • Pseudo Law of Ice • Pseudo Law of Sharpness
I can't believe everything I've achieved over the years—I already have two rank (IV) skills without even being a Sapphire rank, and three other skills are close to advancing to rank (IV).
"Let's check the dungeon notifications." The minute had already passed, and I received my reward options. I haven't seen them yet, so I'll read them to Glia, who's grown anxious at my words.
"Rewards have been calculated. You have cleared a dungeon one grade above your rank—the rewards have been modified. Final evaluation: S." What does that "S" mean? That's a question for later. I keep reading the rewards.
• A skill slot • A user-specialized weapon • An information guide to obtain a Law • Upgrade a Pseudo Law to a Law • Cube evolution • Break the limit of a skill • Skill fusion • Mana and Imra control improvement • A perfect rank (IV) skill tailored to your style
I stare at all the notifications, feeling a slight headache. Now I have to sit down and choose the best option for myself. I can't ask for help—I have to make the decision here. I can't consult anyone; I must follow my instincts.
