RISE OF THE MARTIAL GOD

Chapter 54: A GREEDY WOMAN

Anthony continued to read down.

"The woman was Chu Yuxi, a castaway slave of a middle tier sect. She was sick, wounded, and abandoned in a wilderness inhabited by ferocious beasts. She contracted a deadly poison, and no one bothered to help her because she was a lowly slave which they thought was not worth the effort. The two young masters rescued her and expelled the poison from her, using their superior divine power which has been polished for hundreds of years. However, some of the girl's organs were damaged, including her meridians. If they left her as is, she would be a cripple with damaged meridians, unable to cultivate for the rest of her life. However, the girl was obviously an ambitious one, despite being a slave. Such a fate was worse than death and she might choose to end her life in despair. Faced with such a situation, the two young masters decided to help her using a secret art developed by Lan Xuanyu. The secret art required five important materials to be successful—a herb aged a hundred thousand years, the drop of the nectar of a special flower which can subdue all poisons, a priceless material that can repair meridian, purify bloodline and improve physique. In other words, it can literally make an average cultivator become a genius. So repairing meridians and qi flow was not an issue. To find the nectar, Hua Cheng ventured into the abyss, coming back exhausted. The final ingredients were drops of Hua Cheng and Lan Xuanyu's priceless immortal blood filled with pure divine energy. With this secret art, she was not only healed but her constitution was modified. The weak and useless slave girl became a genius able to compete with the stars of other sects. However, despite her soaring popularity and Hua Cheng's advice to join a sect since many sects wanted to recruit her as prime disciple, she refused, insisting that she must repay the saving grace of the two young masters all her life. After all, fame never mattered to her."

At this point Anthony roared with laughter, unable to continue reading it. He laughed so hard that tears ran down his face.

"Why… Why am I seeing my ex wife in each sentence I read about this girl? She screams gold digger. Could it be that such geniuses are so dumb that they didn't notice her intention?" He gasped out, in between bouts of laughter.

"Why will she want to join a sect? Which sect can beat the reputation of the immortal peak mansion? They were the ace duo after all, and descended to a lower heaven to avoid their parents. They were basically gods walking among them. Why will she want to demote herself by joining a random sect? As long as she continues to strut around with the position of their personal assistant, she could exercise her power at will. She can bully others while no one will dare to bully her. After all, you need to look at the owner before you beat a dog. Those trying to curry favor with the ace duo will have to lick her feet, lobby her with gifts, and bow their heads before her. Imagine the satisfaction she must have gotten. A mere slave that was trashed around, now elevated to a place of honor because a supposed tragedy brought her honor. The only thing she could do was pretend to be loyal and hide her greed." Anthony muttered and turned towards the painting, sneering at the woman depicted in it.

He shook his head wryly and sat up to continue reading.

"She continued living with them in their residence, receiving pointers in her cultivation, and the young masters occasionally took her along while going on simple expeditions to allow her gain experience appropriate with her age and cultivation level. Soon, she became reputable after defeating a demon Lord, and Hua Cheng offered to help her open her own sect. With his deep trove of cultivation arts and bottomless treasury, letting her found her own sect would not be a problem at all. But once again, the loyal servant refused, preferring to cook and serve them tea. Although there were other servants in the residents, she was the only one close enough to serve them, which made her special. While the rest only did chores, she had the privilege of receiving special guidance from the masters making her cultivation soar above imaginations. Her dedication was extraordinary, and the young masters became determined to make her undefeatable."

Anthony rolled his eyes and chuckled.

"Hua Cheng, if I were Chu Yuxi, I wouldn't want to leave. She was living the dream, enjoying endless wealth, glory and splendor. It's the residence of the esteemed immortal crown prince and guqin Lord. Only an idiot would agree to leave."

He felt like he was watching an interesting drama, making him more focused on decoding the ancient texts.

"She was very loyal and knew how to fade into the background at the right moments. So, staying with her was no longer a problem. Till one day."

Anthony's eyes brightened at this point knowing that he had come to the main point of the long story.

"Hua Cheng had just broken into a new realm, and Lan Xuanyu set up a lavish banquet for him. However, they received distress calls. Lord Lan decided to go on his own to give Hua Cheng the time to stabilize his new realm. It was this short moment of being apart that water seeped into their tight knit relationship. The herbs used in cooking and brewing the wine were too strong, knocking out Hua Cheng who was not used to heavy drinking. In the midst of his hazy half asleep state, he ended up sleeping with their maidservant, Yuxi."

Anthony chuckled.

"I knew it. Kick Lord Xuanyu out and become the esteemed crown princess. Hua Cheng's parents might not accept a male as their son's lover, but a girl will most definitely be welcome as the young madam of the clan. She finally did it. Why are women like this? All these women you help out of the goodness of your heart, why do most of them point a gun at your head when you least expect it? Poor A'Cheng will explain till his voice goes hoarse. Let's see."

"Lan Xuanyu returned before morning, earlier than expected because the threat wasn't as strong as the sect leaders portrayed them, only to meet his soulmate in bed with their maidservant. In a fit of rage, the two fought for a while, destroying half of the immortal peak. When infuriated Lan Xuanyu finally listened to Hua Cheng, he insisted that he didn't do it. However, the evidence was all over Yuxi. Lan Xuanyu could feel Hua Cheng's aura in the maid's body, and it was not just the blood they used to heal her. Through a secret art, Lan Xuanyu discovered that Yuxi sneaked into Hua Cheng's bed as he was asleep and drunk, letting him mistake her for Lord Lan. But against expectations, Lord Lan didn't part ways with the immortal prince Hua Cheng. They repaired the peak and went on with their normal lives while Yuxi was confined to her room to meditate."

Anthony's mouth fell open at this point.

"Wow! He forgave him immediately and continued their relationship. Damn! A woman would have left him immediately she caught them in bed. Men truly understand each other better than a woman could ever do. But why didn't they punish her? Confinement isn't that much of a punishment." He nodded and continued reading the last line.

"The simple matter became complicated when Chu Yuxi showed signs of being pregnant. However, after the twins were born, the two immortal Lords encountered a problem. The power flowing through the children's body was too strong for their little bodies to bear. Some parts of their constituents were sealed to save their lives. When the children turned five, a magical ability was discovered, a drop of their blood could revive any dying existence. Hua Cheng's immortal blood, which had ample divine power and holy energy, had combined with the potent herbs in her blood stream to create an amazing result. Fearing for their safety, Lan Xuanyu took them to a lower realm and established a clan where they could live out their days in peace. However, the effects didn't stop with them. Their descendants also inherited their amazing bloodline. A rash descendant unhappy with living in hiding exposed their bloodline, and the rest of the world discovered the secret, making powerful sects hunt them down. With the timely interference of Hua Cheng and Lord Lan, they were saved, and relocated. However, the incidents kept repeating themselves after a few generations. Till Hua Cheng finally locked them up in a new world, which had the perilous lands as the entrance, hoping to hide them away and establish a new base for the legendary blood tribe."

At that moment, Anthony recalled what the statue which he now realized was Lan Xuanyu told him about greed.

"Could it be that this time someone tired of living in the world hidden beneath the perilous lands also exposed the entrance to the golden sun sect?"
