Before Anthony could think up a solution, the bird snarled and opened its beak wide, letting out a piercing sound. Anthony immediately felt dizzy as blood rushed to his head.
"Sound attack!" He muttered and quickly used spiritual energy to protect his mind. But it was too late, he felt a warm liquid rush to his throat and he quickly spit it into his sleeves.
He took a deep breath to stabilize his body, and stared at the monster before him. The only powerful weapons he had at the moment were the twin dragon daggers. The items meant to help him were all seized by Rona, making him walk into the perilous lands without any protective artifacts. He only had multiple drugs, herbs and elixirs in his bag, in addition to food. The other artefacts he had were not powerful at all.
He took a deep breath and went into his battle stance just as the bird slashed its wings forward. Anthony quickly bent horizontally in a way that made his back nearly level with the ground and swirled in a circle, narrowly escaping from the wings while simultaneously unleashing his shadow dagger which crept towards the beast silently, like a poisonous arrow shot in a pitch black night. Anthony's eyes darted to the spot he just escaped and his eyes widened. The seemingly soft wings were razor sharp, cutting through the hard rocks of the cave floor like tofu. It left nothing to his imagination what would have happened if it had collided with him instead.
His shadow dagger finally landed on creature's neck at that moment, making it shriek in pain.
"You despicable human."
"Oh? This thing can speak. It means its cultivation is no joke." Anthony muttered, getting more guarded than ever.
The shadow dagger had a peculiar ability of being able to hide in space pockets, making it a very lethal weapon. Few can see it approaching till they feel the sharp pain on their body and blindly search for it. Once Anthony masters the weapon, he will be able to not just hide it in space pockets to sneak attack his enemies but also disappear with it. But unfortunately, he had only just started using it, so he had not mastered it yet.
"How did you get your hands on that thing?" The beast growled again as Anthony called back hid weapon, getting ready for a second strike.
Anthony ignored it and brandished his dagger with a focused look in his eyes.
"Good, you dare sneak attack this king. How dare you, a puny, useless human in just the ancestor realm act up before me. Look how I handle you, brat." The beast howled in anger, feeling insulted by Anthony's silence which was dripping with disdain.
"The last beast that said that to me was split into two in my hands, I didn't even leave it a complete corpse." Anthony said coldly, quickly rushing towards the monster.
The kung dao bird screamed in anger and made a beeline for Anthony who quickly avoided its beak and rolled to the side. At once, the areas where its wings and beaks touched were left with huge gashes. Anthony quickly jumped to its feet and threw his dagger in an arc. The monster howled and immediately avoided it, only to feel a dagger strike right on the spot where Anthony initially hit him, reopening the wound which was about to coagulate. Anthony had used the light dagger to distract it while the shadow dagger which was his main weapon rushed forth.
As the bird howled and growled, Anthony heard the clicking of metal and looked towards the direction. One of the bird's feet was chained to a huge pillar behind him, but the mighty beast initially hid it with his body, making him not to notice it at first.
A huge smile appeared on his face. If the kung dao is chained, doesn't it mean he will be safe as long as he escapes from that compartment and finds an alternative route?
"Don't even think about it! You will never leave this place alive." The bird growled and moved forward, blocking Anthony's way out.
Anthony smirked at it and scoffed.
"I had no plans of letting you off either." He was there for training and he was determined to make use of all his opportunities. If he was too cowardly to fight the kung dao, will he continue running from other beasts? What if he meets one that was not chained or restricted?
Anthony's eyes hardened and he quickly rushed forth, unleashing all the skills he had learned so far.

Anthony sat down weakly. Blood was dripping down his body. A few meters away from him lay the dead kung dao which still had fresh blood flowing like a river. There were multiple cuts and gashes on the kung dao's body. The most prominent was the huge stab under its tender belly and the huge hole in its neck. That's right, Anthony coincidentally discovered that its weak spot was the white patch on its belly and quickly took advantage of it. Anthony's body was bathed in blood, not just his, but also that of the kung dao.
He was exhausted as he brought out two pills and popped them into his mouth, swallowing them down and quickly circulating the energy around his body to heal both his internal and external wounds. After an hour, he stood up and changed his clothes, ready to continue his exploration. As he was about to leave, his eyes noticed a weird crack in the door and he slowly moved towards it with his hands on the dagger, as silently as he could.
He arrived before the wall and frowned. Some areas around the line looked hollow, as if there was something inside or behind the wall. Anthony stood for a while, with his brows furrowed in deep contemplation.
There seemed to be strange markings around that section of the wall.
As he stretched his hands to touch it, a thought occurred to him. It can't be that a powerful monster hollowed out the wall to create a nest, right? Snake monsters were fond of doing that. However, Anthony's curiosity was strong, making him want to open the door. Should he go, or should he resist temptation and leave? After a while, his desire overcame his sense of reasoning and he placed his hands on the wall, trying to pry it open.
