RISE OF THE MARTIAL GOD

Chapter 129: TRAGEDY STRIKES

"They're awake!" An excited voice shouted, making commotion to arise in the crowd. People immediately tried to rush forth to confirm with their own eyes, while those whose relatives were hurt tried to confirm this news that was too good to be true.

"Hold them back! Don't let them in, the patients need to rest for ten more minutes before they can be allowed to move." Anthony shouted, and the guards moved to obey, holding back the human tide with all their strength.

"Step back, else I will be forced to make a move. The patients are at a critical point now. Anyone trying to rattle them up must have bad intentions, hoping they die. If you want your family members to stay alive and make full recovery, you better don't let the thugs enter here to create havoc."

The moment Anthony shouted the words, the people whose family was among the patients immediately stopped.

Two of the thugs rushed forth to create trouble and a mob of angry women whose children or husbands were affected immediately descended on them, beating them brutally before tossing them back.

"You truly have bad intentions. You previously prevented the kind young master from helping out, now that they have been rescued, you want to mess with their recovery. Are you trying to get my brother killed?" One of the women screeched, using a stray piece of wood to beat him senseless.

Anthony smirked and went to check on the patients, satisfied that they were all fine.

"Wow, even the chest pain I have been feeling is gone."

"The injury on my leg also disappeared."

"The chronic pneumonia and cough troubling me is gone."

"The ache in my waist is gone."

"Ah? The migraine is gone too. I no longer feel that throbbing pain in my head."

One by one, the patients began to testify that their old diseases also disappeared after being treated by Anthony.

"Physician, accept my bow." A middle aged man said, getting up to execute a bow towards him. Anthony nodded, not showing even the slightest emotions.

"Did you also cure us of our other diseases?"

"That's right. I cured all your previous diseases while treating the poison. Just consider it as a bonus from me. Meanwhile, reduce the amount of alcohol you swallow, to avoid causing a relapse. As for down there, you no longer need to buy herbs to make that place respond. You can freely go with peace of mind."

The man blushed. He had been battling with erectile dysfunction for a long time, but surprisingly woke up with an early morning wood, making him very happy.

"However, be careful of the women you associate with to avoid catching infections again." Anthony whispered in a voice so low that only he heard it.

"Young master An, are they truly fine?" Miao Miao asked, looking at the people checking and stretching their bodies.

"What do you think?"

She threw herself into his arms, a wide smile on her face.

"Thank you, thanks a lot."

"It's fine, it was nothing."

"How could that be nothing? While going to fetch a new towel, I heard them discussing the herbs being immortal herbs which were not available in this world. For using precious treasures from your family to help the common people unworthy of it, I'm truly thankful. If you have any requests in the future, I will agree to them all."

"Alright, alright. Stop, I don't want people to misunderstand. They are already peddling rumors that the reason I helped was because I took you girls to bed. Kindly spare my reputation."

She quickly let go of him and apologized.

"You all can leave now. You have fifteen minutes to vacate the premises. Go home, any other accidents would not be the fault of the hosts. And don't eat anything else. Leave immediately." Anthony said loudly using soul power to make sure his voice was heard from far away.

"Young master, thank you for saving my husband. And sorry for doubting you." A woman said, and left with her family. Some others followed suit, while others remained.

"Fellow cultivator, the carnival still has till tomorrow before it's over, and some people travelled a far distance to come here. Is it truly proper to send them away like this?" Chu Lan asked, stepping forth. Making the people leave would lower the impact of the chaos, causing him to be concerned.

"Chu Lan, why do you keep causing trouble? One would think that you're one of the people planning to make mischief." Anthony said coldly, not even looking up from where he was sitting.

"How could that be? I'm only concerned about the satisfaction of the guests."

"What other satisfaction is there? I just used the last herb in my possession to cure them. If another incident happens, will you be responsible? Also someone tampered with the food, if you're the guest, will you dare to eat again? The celebration cannot go on with what happened; it's for everyone's safety, and to prevent unforeseen circumstances." Anthony calmly said, leisurely picking at his fingers.

Xinglan stood up.

"Everyone was given fifteen minutes to leave. Five minutes is already gone, you have ten minutes to leave or be bounced out by the security. There are assassins hidden here, it's better if everyone goes home where they would be safe. You can return next two years for a grander celebration. But this time, I'm afraid it's over."

More people began to leave after hearing about the assassins, but some others stayed, chatting nonchalantly. Anthony chuckled.

"At least, I will know my target once the rest is gone."

Soon, Miao Miao came with a food tray.

"I made breakfast for you. Don't worry, it's clean, I personally prepared all ingredients from scratch and gave it to the chicken first."

Anthony accepted it and examined the food, satisfied that it's clean, he began to eat.

Two cultivators walked up to him at that moment, a deferential smile on their faces.

"Young master, can we have some of the remaining herbal solution? I see that there are some left over in the jug—I have an old poison in my body, same with my friend here. I wonder if you would be so kind as to help me."

Anthony looked at them from head to toe. Only one of them was poisoned, they were probably seeking the miraculous properties of the legendary immortal herbs to advance their cultivation. He smiled and nodded.

"Of course, sit down."

He turned to Miao Miao, and gestured to her.

"Call Ms Tong, Ms Meng, and Xinglan over. They have been working with you all night and there's a possibility that they ingested part of the toxins but it hasn't shown yet since the quantity is small. The four of you should come for some detox."

In five minutes, the other three came and Anthony offered them cups of the most potent combinations, leaving the diluted dregs to be distributed to others.

"Once you're done, sit cross legged."

He squatted down and grabbed Ms Tong's face.

"Do you want to be strong? So strong that you won't need to fear men or get harassed by scumbags?"

She immediately nodded, memories of the night before when she got trapped in the crowd and got molested flashing through her mind.

"How about you?" He asked, turning to Miao Miao.

She nodded vigorously, her heart beating in anticipation of being as awesome as Anthony.

"Consider this my last gift to you. Close your eyes, and follow my guidance to channel the energy." He whispered and placed his hands on the backs of the girls, while the other two sat cross legged.

"Booom!"

After five minutes, the two simultaneously felt a dam burst open under Anthony's guidance, and tides of energy burst out, overflowing. Their heart rate increased to an alarming degree as they shook in excitement.

"Focus, don't get carried away else you regress. Continue to circulate the energy using the pattern I showed you."

He left them and went to the other two, repeating the process. Xinglan was already a cultivator of the seventh level of the master realm; the first cultivation realm. However, she had been unable to progress to grand master due to her poor and unstable foundation, despite how hard working she was.

"You're using the wrong channel, I will help you later, it's not something that can be corrected immediately. Just…"

Before he could finish his words, a loud blast of energy went out from Xinglan's body—she had broken through to the grand master realm, making Anthony speechless. Before he could say jack, she was already stabilizing it. Xinglan was truly talented, it's just too bad that she wasn't born into a privileged background.

He sighed and moved to Ms Meng, going on to help her.

"Young master, can we have some now?" The men asked, their eyes shining with greed.

Anthony nodded and they immediately pounced on the extract.

"Taking more than one cup could be dangerous. Not more than one."

They had no intention to listen, so he used an invisible forcefield to push them away. Soon others rushed to have a taste, and once again, chaos broke out among the few still remaining.

'Good, the more people that had it, the better. How else can I catch you all in my net?' Anthony thought, smirking with satisfaction.

"Young master An, A'Jiu has not gotten, reserve some for her." Miao miao shouted, getting to her feet.

"I just broke through my bottleneck, I have been stuck here for six years, six whole years. Immortal herbs are truly amazing. Hahahaha." The loud shout of the first man who took the mixture after the girls, increased the frenzy.

"Stop you all! A'Jiu has not taken." Tong Tong shouted. Their first realm had been stabilized with Anthony's help. Only the last two were still cultivating.

An old man watching in the shadow chuckled, his eyes glinting with malice.

"Immortal herbs are indeed amazing. Just a sip transformed those kids from useless spoiled young mistresses who could only dance and host parties to cultivators, in just fifteen minutes. And help people break through bottle necks. If I could snatch his storage bracelet, I would be able to stand at the peak of the world."

"But he just said those herbs were the last." The young man hidden beside him whispered, shifting the grass aside to get a better view.

"And you believe that shit? What sane person would truly use all his treasures to treat others? I say that was merely the tip of the iceberg. Once he leaves here, we strike. He stands no chance against so many masters."

Just as A'Jiu finally arrived before them, a rider on horseback arrived, the hooves thundering against the ground. A spear was stuck to his back, and his brown cloth was drenched with blood.

"Make way!" He shouted, his voice weak and fading. The horse hooves made everyone shift aside and the horse stopped before Miao Miao.

"Uncle Zhang!" She shouted in horror, letting go of A'Jiu to catch him as he fell from the horse.

"My lady, the chief was ambushed on our way back, only I escaped. Our caravan was robbed. A mighty army is on their way here, seeking for the legendary eye of the Phoenix treasure rumored to be in your father's possession. Make haste, leave now!" His eyes caught sight of Chu Lan and the subordinates standing beside him and his eyes widened. He pointed at them gasping.

"Him, he, be careful, run, he…" The rest of his words trailed off as he breathed his last. Miao Miao let out a piercing scream, her voice reverberating in the stillness of the morning.
