"Boss, according to the intelligence we gathered, the dragon clan sent people to monitor you." A man in black whose face was covered with a black hoodie said, the moment he appeared in the underground research lab where Kaiser was supervising the production of the new drugs.
"Purpose?" He said nonchalantly, moving to the side.
"Um, their intentions are unknown for now. But our men are on it."
Kaiser chuckled and moved to his office in the lab and made himself comfortable on a revolving chair made of expensive leather.
"I guess it must be related to some drug formula or secret technique they think I should have. Pathetic."
"Do you need us to call back the twelve guardians for your protection? Their movements this time are more sneaky than usual. Having the twelve guardians surface to protect you might be the best course of action for now."
The subordinate's words left Kaiser stunned for a moment as if unable to process what he just heard. He suddenly burst into laughter, his voice full of mockery, his shoulders shaking.
"Protect me? Hahahaha."
"You, hahaha. Are they the one to protect me or am I the one who should protect them?" Kaiser asked, hitting his hand against the table.
The subordinate looked at the floor, feeling like a clown. This psychotic boss of his always had a way of making him look foolish and incompetent, but he was far from that. Kaiser had always been like this, unpredictable, like a wildfire—a raging storm.
The smile on Kaiser's face disappeared as soon as it came, it had been fake after all.
"Face your tasks instead of thinking about nonsensical things. Let them come, I have missed the smell of blood." He muttered coldly, reaching for the glass of water which the subordinate, one of his five assistants, the one responsible for surveillance, investigations, and security, offered to him. The assistant before him was one of the three underground assistants unknown by the rest of the world doing dirty jobs for him. He had the initial 'L' on his hoodie.
"The last task I gave you…"
"Done." He quickly answered.
Kaiser sat through it, listening to reports from code L not really interested in them. He trusted him to do a clean job. He rubbed his temples, feeling a slight headache. It had been days since he slept.
"... That's all for now."
"Let me annoy the dragon clan even more, secure the land at creek hills. Don't let them bid on it. Our next resort would be built on it. Since the dragon clan are experts at recklessly moving money for stupid purposes, they should take a break and forget about increasing their market shares in real estate and hotels." Kaiser added with a wicked smirk, knowing the elders would go livid with anger.
Unknown to the rest of the world, even the original owners, there was a treasure hidden beneath the vast lands. The treasure was inadvertently discovered by one of the elders, making them focus their attention on the gigantic mass of land in the middle of nowhere. It was not just the treasures beneath it, it had perfect feng shui and was located in a strategic location which would definitely be a hit, whether it was used for hotels, housing estates, or commercial centers. Although it was currently a rural area, the value would multiply in just two years, making it a treasure in the eyes of any experienced business man. An even bigger secret unknown to anyone but Kaiser was the fact that there was a four beast trigram formation at a hidden location in the land. It did not just gather energy which increases the speed of cultivation, it also meant that there were more secrets hidden there. One which Kaiser was determined to uncover.
Losing such a fat piece of meat would fill the bellies of the elders with bile, and also make them unable to recoup the losses they incurred due to the several bad moves they made in the past year.
'Let them panic, I want them to know the meaning of desperation. Only then will they expose their cards.' He thought, his eyes cold and calculating as always.

Leo had been under water for nearly an hour, lost in memories that he had vowed not to open. Bubbles from his breath stopped fifteen minutes after he submerged himself, showing that he had stopped breathing.
But at this point, his fingers moved, and a wave of energy passed through his body. He blinked and sat up, rising above the water. His eyes remained dead and emotionless as he brought up his hand. He looked at the scar on his finger where Rona had slashed that day, and brought it to his lips, kissing it with an expression of adoration. He looked at the scar, slowly caressing it. Although his face was expressionless, his eyes softened a bit as he stared at the scar, lost in thoughts.
He touched another scar on his chest remembering how he was hit by a poisoned bullet during a mission. It was still Rona who saw where he collapsed, took him to a safe house and got him treated by an expert. All through the nights where his fever was sky high and the doctors kept saying he might not make it was she who kept her faith strong and did everything to detoxify him and make him recover.
Why did he suddenly start recalling these memories now that she left him forever?
Leo closed his eyes, pretending it was her soothing hand touching him, slowly moving down to his southern region.

As Kaiser sped across the deserted area, he noticed people covertly following him. He increased the speed of his motorcycle, the people trailing him also increased their speed, with a helicopter flying above them. Kaiser scoffed, a smirk of disdain playing at the corner of his lips.
"Hmph, it seems that they found decent assassins this time." Kaiser muttered, watching them from the mirror attached to his specially modified Kawasaki ninja.
Without warning, he increased the speed of his motorcycle and turned towards the wilderness, rushing into the desert as if he was afraid of them. And sure enough his assailants increased their pursuit, emboldened by what they saw as an attempt to flee.
