Xuanzang racked his brains but couldn't figure out how all this had anything to do with whether his flesh could attain longevity.
On the other side, Jin Jiao and Silver Horn had already received the news as soon as Xuanzang and his disciples entered Flat Peak Mountain. This information did not come from the little monsters under them, but rather from the Earth God of this place.
To whom is the Earth God actually inclined?
He leans toward no one. Both sides are like lords to him, and he dares not offend either.
"Brother, let me first go and meet that Xuanzang and his disciples."
"Be careful, brother."
Silver Horn's cultivation was at the level of Golden Immortal, though it was of a rather less potent kind, mainly because, in normal times, he was busy stoking the furnace for the Lord and didn't have much occasion to use his skills. Of course, his real combat strength was still quite formidable among Golden Immortals due to the Magical Treasures he possessed.
With a few little monsters, he saw Xuanzang and his disciples from afar on one of the tall peaks. Seeing that Xuanzang, who had once been small in stature, had grown into a full-grown man made Silver Horn feel a bit regretful.
Why can't I grow up?
"You all retreat and watch me capture Xuanzang and his disciples!"
Upon hearing this, the little monsters were relieved that they didn't have to be sent to their deaths and immediately cheered.
"Long live the Great King!"
"Great King invincible!"
Silver Horn relished this feeling of being revered and waved for the little monsters to hide while he transformed into an old Taoist lying on the path where Xuanzang and his party were bound to pass.
Soon, Xuanzang and his disciples arrived. Sun Wukong was a highly intelligent monkey. Although the last encounter with the White Bone Demon indeed involved Xuanzang's mortal eyes and Bajie's instigations, he recognized that leaving no trace behind by attacking directly was susceptible to false accusations.
Thus, even though he noticed something was wrong, he refrained from acting immediately.
"Oh, oh dear, Elders traveling westward, I have unexpectedly injured my leg. Could you give me a ride?"
Xuanzang looked at Sun Wukong, but Sun Wukong made no indication. Although he knew this could be a demon in disguise, what if it wasn't?
Having made a vow to help all beings, his heart was genuinely altruistic. You could call him naive, but this was his faith.
"Daoist Master, if you don't mind, you can ride my horse."
Watching Xuanzang dismount, Sun Wukong felt a bit reluctant. Xuanzang was previously a pampered monk, and the mountain paths here were treacherous and difficult. Walking them would certainly lead to some hardships.
Having been through so much, Sun Wukong no longer viewed Xuanzang's actions as foolish but maintained a degree of respect for his benevolence towards all living beings.
He was confident he couldn't match his master's level of kindness.
"Master, these mountain roads are tough, and if you walk, it might delay us. How about I carry the Daoist Master on my back?"
Without giving Xuanzang a chance to refuse, Sun Wukong had already picked up the Daoist Master, who was actually Silver Horn in disguise. Silver Horn squinted and recognized Sun Wukong, who had kicked over his petty rice bowl at Doushuai Temple.
One had discerned the other's ill intentions, and the other wanted to settle an old score, leading to a direct confrontation between the two.
Continuing their journey, Silver Horn, riding on Sun Wukong's back, was contemplating how to play tricks on him.
With a turn of his thoughts, he devised a plan.
He quickly cast several Dharma Seals under the sleeve of his Daoist robe, and then using his Divine Skills projected Emei Mountain and tucked it away within himself. Shortly, Sun Wukong was drenched in sweat.
Although Emei Mountain couldn't compare to places like Kunlun and Lingshan where Saints resided, it still ranked in the second tier among the Primordial Divine Mountains.
Silver Horn's skill was not so much in moving mountains as in borrowing strength. The mountains of the Primordial world were there to be tapped; if your methods were fitting, you could borrow them, and so could others.
Seeing that a single Emei Mountain only made the monkey struggle, Silver Horn immediately pulled in a second Divine Mountain, Sumeru.
This time, Sun Wukong's steps started to falter, and soon he fell from the front to the back of the group.
"Brother, what's wrong? Is it too tiring carrying the old man? How about I take over for a bit?"
Sun Wukong knew it was the demon's trick, and while he could handle it, his two fellow disciples might struggle.
"Just feeling a bit tired. You guys go ahead!"
He then added a cautionary note.
"Take good care of Master."
Zhu Bajie, the clever pig, had already sensed something amiss and immediately moved closer to Xuanzang with his rake in hand for protection.
Seeing his master and junior disciples moving far ahead, Sun Wukong stopped pretending, coolly saying, "Demon, go ahead and use your tricks against me!"
"You certainly have some skills, monkey."
Finishing his statement, Silver Horn brought in Taishan. The heavy weight of three mountains proved too much even for Sun Wukong to bear. Even if Silver Horn's cultivation level was bolstered by consuming Elixirs, his Divine Skills were authentic Daoist powers.
With Sun Wukong trapped beneath the mountains, Silver Horn laughed and left to catch up with Xuanzang and his disciples. Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing were nowhere near a match for him, and Xuanzang was just an ordinary man. In an instant, the trio was completely suppressed.
Smugly, he carried back the three disciples to the Lotus Cave.
"Brother, brother!"
"Ah, brother!"
"Brother!"
"Brother."
"Hahaha, my dear brother."
"Hahaha, my dear brother."
The nearby little monsters: ...
Though our two Great Kings are perfect in every aspect, isn't there an oddly childish vibe here?
Proudly, the Silver Horned King said, "Brother, I have successfully captured the... uh, Xuanzang and his disciples."
"Well done, brother!"
Jin Jiao glanced at Xuanzang and the two oddly shaped figures beside him.
"Brother, why is there one less?"
"Rest assured, brother. That monkey has already been subdued and is trapped under the mountain by my trick!"
Seeing his brother claim victory, Jin Jiao quickly signaled with his eyes, reminding him that their goal was merely to scare them and create any of the challenging tribulations, but never to genuinely consume them, right?
