The Investiture: Unlimited Blade Works Nezha

Chapter 428: Nezha VS Jin Ling

Nezha thought it would be too chaotic if he brought more people to the lecture, so he only brought Yang Jian along. Currently, with his Golden Immortal cultivation and standing in the Chan Sect, he was mostly untaught by others and felt lost about his path forward. Whether or not this lecture would bear fruit, it was certainly an opportunity for him.

The two arrived at the East Sea's Golden Turtle Island. The Jie Sect had already fully mobilized, even summoning the Yunxiao siblings from the Three Immortals Island—three of them had been called back. At the moment, No Brainer and Unhappy were managing some reception work.

Of course, there weren't that many visitors specifically for them to entertain. The two were bored enough to yawn constantly and, upon spotting Nezha from afar, quickly shoved their tasks onto a nearby immortal and rushed over themselves.

"Little Brother Nezha!"

"You haven't come to Three Immortals Island to hang out with us for so long—were you scared off by Big Sister's endless lessons?"

The two couldn't entirely grasp the difference between top students and slackers. Besides, with Sister Yunxiao being such a kind and beautiful teacher, why would Nezha be afraid of her?

"How could that be? Are you two here because Sister Yunxiao returned as well?"

"Big Sister has too much on her plate. Only we and Big Brother came back."

Nezha understood. Among the siblings of four, only two were actually capable workers—the other two likely dragged them down half the time.

Familiar with the personalities of No Brainer and Unhappy, he reached into his sleeve and pulled out a gadget he'd created while cultivating the Space Dao—a 3D version of a golden miner game—and handed it to them. In simple terms, it appeared as a small cubic object, but its internal space was vast and produced all sorts of oddities at random.

As long as one infused mana, they could use a mana-controlled claw to grab things, gaining "points" and special effects in the process. It was quite a fun little trinket.

After teaching the two how to play, they immediately ran off to start playing. As they left, they didn't forget to say, "While you're on Golden Turtle Island, make yourself at home! If you need anything, just tell them our names!"

Nezha thought it unnecessary—coming to Golden Turtle Island was no different than coming home for him!

Turning, he brought Yang Jian to Jin Ling Holy Mother's residence. As a disciple of the Chan Sect, Yang Jian was naturally curious about everything on Golden Turtle Island, so he observed with interest all along the way.

Since Jin Ling Holy Mother was the senior disciple of the Jie Sect, she didn't need to handle reception work. When Nezha arrived, Yu Yuan was still copying manuscripts.

Yu Yuan and Yang Jian had met a few times but weren't well-acquainted. Upon noticing each other, they exchanged glances, each coming to the same conclusion: this guy is strong.

Nezha ignored the silent camaraderie between two macho men, coughed twice, and said, "This is my junior-nephew, Yang Jian, a disciple of True Master Yu Ding from the Chan Sect. And this here is Senior Sister Jin Ling's disciple, Yu Yuan. Get along, the both of you. I have some business with Senior Sister Jin Ling."

With that, he left the two to themselves and stepped into the inner hall.

Jin Ling's residence was nothing like a typical female immortal's dwelling. Being someone born from Golden Spirit Qi, her style was decidedly hardcore, with a fondness for all things metallic.

As Nezha stepped inside, he triggered an array, but Jin Ling Holy Mother, seated in meditation on her cushion, remained unfazed.

"Senior Sister, I've come to see you."

Speaking as he walked, he sat down beside Jin Ling Holy Mother with his own cushion, pressing closely. Jin Ling opened her eyes to glance at Nezha but didn't say a word.

Seeing her unresponsive, Nezha directly grabbed her hand and gave it a squeeze. Hmm, soft. So he squeezed again.

Jin Ling initially tolerated Nezha's playfulness, assuming he'd stop. Yet, after several moments, her patience ran thin.

"A cultivator must keep their mind clear and will steadfast. How can they let affection sway their Dao Heart?"

Nezha was already immune to Jin Ling Holy Mother's platitudes, knowing well that she spouted them when embarrassed. Her current demeanor struck him as rather amusing.

"I missed you."

When dealing with someone like her, going for the straightforward approach was most effective—provided the feelings were mutual, of course. Otherwise, it would just come across as greasy.

Undoubtedly, Jin Ling Holy Mother was susceptible to this tactic. She let Nezha fumble with her hand in silence.

Before long, though, she couldn't help but break the silence.

"Why are you staring at me like that?"

"Because you're beautiful."

Once again, Jin Ling's understanding of Nezha's shamelessness expanded. A flash of golden light from her hand forced him back, after which she withdrew her hand and tucked it into her lap.

Nezha didn't mind her reaction at all. Instead, he asked, "So… does what you said back then still count?"

Hearing those words, Jin Ling Holy Mother abandoned her meditative posture and looked at Nezha directly. Clearly, she remembered the promise she'd made. She carefully inspected Nezha's current cultivation, perceiving that he was still only at the Daluo Golden Immortal level.

Not weak but certainly not her equal yet.

Looking at the eager Nezha, a faint smile played on her lips as she said, "What's this? You want to try? I won't go easy on you."

When Jin Ling Holy Mother said she wouldn't go easy, she meant it—her feelings wouldn't cloud her judgment. As far as she was concerned, Nezha's talent was extraordinary. Him catching up to her level of cultivation was only a matter of time, and time was utterly insignificant to someone of her standing.

Nezha nodded earnestly. He wanted to test his current capabilities as well.

Jin Ling Holy Mother stood with a light smile, amused at the thought of thoroughly thrashing her little boyfriend. This ought to be an amusing experience.

The two went outside, where Yang Jian and Yu Yuan were in the midst of an intense battle of masculine pride. Yang Jian hadn't unleashed his hound, nor had Yu Yuan employed any magical treasures. One wielded an iron whip, the other a Three-pointed Two-edged Blade, exchanging heavy blows.

Their martial styles bore similarities. Yu Yuan possessed greater cultivation, while Yang Jian's Eight-Nine Profound Skills gave him comparable strength. Overall, it was an even match, though Yang Jian had a significant edge in combat intelligence. If it were a life-and-death struggle, Yang Jian's chances of victory would be much higher.
