Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins!

Chapter 807: Chapter D290: A Sky Full of Stars

The twin moons ascended into the sky, the stars filling the night.

Moonlight and starlight fused into a frosted, soft glow, casting down upon the pure white stone-paved square, a place bustling with life by day, now resembling an otherworldly realm.

In the expansive square's center, a solitary figure stood, as if independent of the world.

It was the Hero, clad in regal attire, gazing up at the night sky.

It was now the early hours of the morning, the eighth day since she was chosen as the Saintess Agent.

The Pure White Moon hung high, its clarity immaculate, while the Ashen Moon hid behind it.

After an entire day's preparation, the Hero, adorned in her grand attire, quietly awaited the ceremony's commencement.

Her ceremonial dress was extraordinarily splendid, the long train spread out behind her, embroidered with layers upon layers of magic arrays that shimmered with faint light.

The elder nuns, originally tasked with lifting the dress, had already retreated, leaving her alone in the square, in stark contrast to the throngs of the selection ceremony the past week.

In reality, to ensure the ceremony's smooth progress, the Pure White Holy Land had been sealed for seven days, and the square hadn't been trodden upon by citizens for an entire week.

Yet, the Hero did not find it desolate; she withdrew her gaze from the moonlight, silently observing the majestic Heroic Soul Monument under the moonlight, waiting with the names twinkling like stars in the night sky for that moment to arrive.

And the citizens, eagerly anticipating the birth of a new Saintess, did not feel regret for their inability to witness this scene firsthand.

The night veiled the vast land of the Kingdom; under the same starry sky, countless people gathered in churches across the lands.

In churches throughout the nation, though they lacked the capacity of the Holy City Cathedral to forge Holy Artifacts, these churches served as Professional Guilds and were not ordinary buildings.

The countless "spirit stars" enshrined in the chapels, symbols of the Church, had begun to emit iridescent light long since daytime.

It was a peculiar sight never seen by children and a rare glow to behold in a lifetime for the elders—a sign of the holy light heralding the imminent birth of a new Saintess.

The Saintess is the guiding star for the spirit; wherever the heart of the Saintess directs, the followers of the Church Court will follow physically.

Even though a Communication Array had delivered the news to all areas seven days prior, people couldn't help but gasp as they truly saw this radiance emerge.

For some places too remote and unable to receive the news in time, the priests of these churches dashed out to announce the news throughout their villages.

At this moment, in the thousands of churches spread across the Kingdom, the devout congregated in chapels, eyes closed in prayer.

Their spiritual power, albeit inconsequential, merged with the Magic Element in the air, transforming into specks of Magic Power, relayed through the emblem of the spirit star across an invisible passageway to the distant center of the Holy City.

The clock in the Cathedral moved slowly; finally, the minute hand completed a circuit, and the hour hand pointed to the second mark.

The ceremony commenced.

In the next moment, before the Hero, appeared the first spot of light.

The light didn't gather as it did previously, descending from the names on the monument; this light ascended from the ground, like a tiny bubble rising in the deep sea.

Rapidly, the spots of light multiplied, soon becoming innumerable, transforming the Pure White Square into a sea of light, dazzling alongside the stars and moon.

The radiance intertwined, illuminating the silhouette of the Hero, also revealing in her eyes the gate that opened in the void.

The gate opened, brilliant light surged out, then gradually faded.

A stone cup descended from within, slowly landing in the young girl's raised hands.

This was the legendary Holy Grail.

Different from the mystical and fantastic depictions in legends, the grail before her, bestowed with the sacred name, appeared exceptionally plain.

Its body was made of somewhat rough gray stone, with faded gold patterns etched on the surface.

Though outwardly simple, it's said to possess an exceedingly ancient history, older even than the Eternal Holy Sword, having been worshipped in ancient civilizations long before the Kingdom was established.

The Hero held the Holy Grail before her, releasing her hands, watching it quietly hover in the air.

After some thought, she extended a hand and lightly grazed her wrist with the other.

A blood mark appeared on her relaxed skin, with flame-red and sun-like golden blood flowing from the pale blue vein.

The moment the blood dripped, the air was filled with a mesmerizing fragrance potent enough to drive evil to madness; unfortunately, none could savor it, as it faded away with the healing of the Hero's wound.

The flame blood dripped into the stone cup below, forming a shallow layer, its surface vaguely rippling with faint light.

The wound on her wrist disappeared, and the Hero held the Holy Grail with both hands.

She took a deep breath, her Emerald Eye clear, and spoke boldly:

"I, [], hereby swear—"

The clear voice echoed in the night sky; as the Hero uttered her true name, her words spread like ripples across the sea of light, reaching all the churches and the entire Kingdom.

"I shall be loyal to civilization, loyal to the Kingdom, loyal to the people.

"I shall execute the duty of the Saintess Agent, striving to guide you all towards a better future."

As her voice trailed off, the Hero lifted the Holy Grail high.

In the next instant, countless spots of light shot up into the sky, illuminating the night sky, overshadowing even the light of the stars and moon.
