Bonus chapter - An unexpected Horace story pt XVI

Man was not hot. Horace bouncing around to every big-headed teen kicking about the place was met with "Fuck offs", "No ways" and "Yucks"; his confidence was slipping away by the second.

There was only a handful of people left. Just like being back in gym class, the boy wonder was down there with the bottom barrel kids. You know the types:

The kid with the trench coat, black shades and flame shirt.

The kid that makes no context vents to strangers for a little bit of attention.

The kid whose parents chose his stats, putting them all into wisdom.

And, of course, that kid who will do anything for a few HFC. Eat food off the floor? He's your boy.

There was a girl chilling in the back that caught Horace's eye. Not in a romantic way; she just didn't look like she would be a thorn in his side at every opportunity. She was part of the huums that came from the other world, a Terrahuum. She had the grey overalls on just like he did, but her hair was like nothing he had seen before. Dyed a dark purple with a glistening look to it. Her hair was shaved on the right side of her head, and the long hair was tied up and dangling down her front.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

He made his way over to her and introduced himself.

"Hey, I'm Horace. What's your name?" She looked at him as if he were a freak, scrunching her face up at him in disgust. "Woah...Ey, la, are you one of those anthro cosplayers? Ya luuk like one."

Horace stared at her in confusion; it was the first time he had heard words like that before, and her way of speaking was so bizarre. Like she needed to cough, but she smoked too much to risk her lungs collapsing.

Eh? Anthro cosplayers? I don't know what that is. I'm half Dornam, half Huundhan; maybe that's what you meant?" His smiling did nothing to redeem her confidence in him.

"What the fuuk is tha? Not sure if you're taking the piss or not, la?" She slapped his hand away and started pulling at his face. Trying to see if he was joking or not.

"That's well weird, la... you can call me Lambacardley." Horace was going to have to try hard to remember that one. Curious to know what she was going to pick, he began asking her questions. "Hey, you know what's going to happen, right? Facking oath mate, I can't wait to pick my class! Been thinking about it for ages."

Her face scrunched up again, raising up on the right side. She paused before answering him back with questions of her own. "La, I've just fuuking got here. I don't have a clue what's gonna happen; you have to tell me some shit. The angel put me ere like an hour ago." With words trailing off, Horace got his opportunity to be a teacher for a moment.

"Deadass, will tell you what's good. Ya must be at least 16, and we get to come here. You ever play a game before? It's like that. You get to become like one of the sentries and shit. Ya do things and get imaginary points out of thin air. You can start as an esquire, knuckler, bow boy or wand waver." Horace was so proud of all the info he memorised.
