Chapter 577: Surrender

The tribespeople didn't hesitate; they turned and ran desperately towards the entrance of the cave.

Children cried as adults held them tightly in their arms, while the elderly members of the tribe relied on the shoulders of the young people, trudging along with difficulty.

In the face of this sudden disaster, the tribe members seemed incredibly small. Their playfulness and confidence instantly turned into powerless resistance.

At the entrance of the cave, the tribespeople poured in one by one, their figures disappearing into the darkness.

At this stage, the inside of the cave was relatively safe, at least temporarily avoiding the dust and toxins outside.

The elder sat in a corner of the cave, his eyes filled with worry and confusion.

He didn't understand why the outsiders were taking such extreme measures. Didn't they know the power of the altar couldn't be buried?

"Do they... do they really think this can stop the power of the altar?"

The elder muttered to himself, his voice tinged with sorrow.

"Perhaps they're just making their last struggle."

A young tribesman responded, his eyes also filled with unease, but more so with fear of the unknown.

The outside world continued its chaos, helicopters kept delivering supplies.

No one could predict the consequences of this operation.

Everyone turned their eyes to the always rested chieftain, the old lady whom Commander Wang and others visited at the beginning.

She leaned on a cane, seemingly indifferent to everything outside.

"Such composure, truly worthy of the chieftain!"

"Our chieftain is so calm; it seems all these actions by the outsiders were foreseen by the chieftain."

"You think? Our chieftain is the wise elder!"

Just as the tribespeople were boasting about their leader, a gentle, rhythmic but very abrupt snoring interrupted their flattering.

Uh...

Following their gaze, everyone saw the drooling face of the chieftain.

Ah, this...

"Ahem, our leader has been worrying a lot lately, so... so it's normal to doze off!"

Yes, they acknowledged, dozing off is normal.

But damn, if she doesn't wake up, they will be buried alive!

The Nika Tribe people huddled in the depths of the cave, quietly waiting for the storm outside to pass, waiting for the altar to reveal its power again.

.....

Commander Wang stood at the temporary command center, frowning, looking through the glass window into the distance at the altar covered in dust.

His voice transmitted through the radio, asking.

"What's the progress? Are there any obstructions from those previous 'mysterious' forces?"

The radio replied from the people below.

"Everything is going smoothly, Commander Wang. Most of the burial work is done, the main altar is nowhere to be seen, and as for those 'mysterious' forces, there has been no interference yet."

Commander Wang nodded slightly, a hint of relaxation in his eyes quickly replaced by seriousness.

"Good, but we mustn't be complacent. Keep vigilant, I don't want any slip-ups."

"Understood, we will maintain the highest level of alert."

The voice in the radio was firm and powerful.

Commander Wang turned around, facing his team. His voice was steady and resolute.

"Just to be safe, we can't leave any possibilities unchecked. Outside the lead blocks, I request another layer of molten steel! Ensure those 'mysterious' forces can't escape."

Team members nodded, knowing this battle was unlike any traditional battle; they were facing unknown, unimaginable forces.

Following Commander Wang's orders, helicopters took off again, now carrying large containers filled with scalding molten steel.

With a command from the Commander, the scorching steel poured down like a waterfall, covering the lead blocks laid earlier.

Wave after wave of heat, the molten steel drew dazzling silver lines in the air, fell on the mounds, making hissing steam sounds.

All this was under countless surveillance devices and human watchful eyes.

Commander Wang stared at the monitor screen, his heart involuntarily accelerated.

He knew if all this couldn't stop those forces, humanity would have to face an even scarier reality.

But now, all they could do was try every means to seal this unknown threat.

The rumbling helicopters, the gushing steel, and reports from the radio formed the main theme of Blue Star that day.

Behind it all was humanity's fear of the unknown and yearning for survival.

We sure are yearning too!!!

The Nika Tribe members were feeling incredibly hot!

Looking at the enormous "Flame Mountain" nearby, members of Nika Tribe, regardless of male or female, had removed their tops, everyone bare-chested and sincere with each other.

Of course, Nika Tribe people only wore a piece of animal skin on them anyway.

This belonged to the tropical forest, which had no winter; if it felt cold, they'd just light a bonfire for warmth.

"Oh my!"

The sleeping old lady let out a signature native exclamation and woke up.

"So damn hot!"

"Chieftain, you're finally awake. Those outsiders intend to physically bury our altar!"

Bury the altar?

The old lady rubbed her farsighted eyes, leaning on a cane, step by step towards the cave's entrance.

Without even looking up, she felt the rolling heat waves hit her face.

Instantly, she felt a desire to take off the animal skin, but considering she was the chieftain, she needed to be dignified, so she forcibly suppressed it.

Looking up, she found the altar in the distance already billowing with thick smoke.

Fortunately, she heard that steel cooled quickly; otherwise, the forest might have burned down.

Despite that, some uncooled steel was spreading around the altar.

At this rate, reaching the cave vicinity was only a matter of time.

They were powerless against this and could only pray 'the gods' didn't let the molten steel flow over their heads.

But how could the gods hear the cries of "ants"?

So the Nika Tribe surrendered....

Seeing the molten steel about to flood into their home, they held white animal skins, standing on higher parts of the tribe, waving them continuously.

This doesn't mean they understood the "white flag" meant surrender.

Rather, because the helicopters were so high, if they waved red or yellow or other less-obvious colors, they were likely to be ignored.

Luckily, they were eventually noticed.

...

In the interrogation room, Commander Wang looked at the old lady in front of him with a half-smile.

Of course, Translator Xiaoqian was naturally beside him, responsible for mutual translation.

"Couldn't you hide quite well before? Where were you hiding?"

The old lady truthfully disclosed that right beneath their tribe lies a large cave.
