Deep in the Living

Chapter 695: Mouth

"Luo Di, Wu Wen, and Hua Yuan, today you'll be sharing a table with this newcomer, Mr. Qu. I'll prepare a special meal for you."

"Isn't it usually individual sets for each person?" Luo Di was quite nostalgic for the noodles made by Hunter.

"Today is a bit special, and Luo Di, I need you to help me chop vegetables; it's going to be a lot of work."

"Alright."

Today's service was much slower than usual, taking a full twenty minutes.

Hunter, wearing an apron, personally pushed the heated food cart into the private room, and the dishes inside were all grand.

The first dish served was "Sweet and Sour Pork", on a plate as big as a washbasin, piled up like a small mountain. Extremely crispy, perfectly sweet and sour.

The second dish, freshly fried "Stuffed Eggplant," filled with meat and fresh eggplant, drenched in oily juice that seeped into the filling, each bite immensely satisfying.

The third dish was a heavyweight "Braised Pork Knuckle," at least four huge knuckles sliced and stacked, rich in sauce flavor without any hint of gaminess.

The fourth dish, also freshly fried "Deep-fried Meatball," with an extremely thin crispy crust and perfectly seasoned filling, was so good it made you want another.

The fifth dish took up a third of the table, "Chicken Stew with Mushrooms," with a broth that was flavorful and chicken that was tender and smooth.

The last dish, Hunter directly brought the wok and ingredients over, slicing pig liver on site to make a dish of "Quick-Fried Liver Slices." As for the heat source, Luo Di took care of it, placing his palm on the bottom of the pan, instantly heating it to 300℃.

Stir-fried over high heat, ready in ten seconds. Both crispy and tender, full of wok aroma.

Mr. Qu unconsciously picked up the chopsticks, even though in the Fishing Village he'd never used such things, as all his nutrition was usually obtained through "flesh transport."

His special perception could capture the images and aromas of the dishes,

and this inexplicable familiarity was slightly shaking his memories.

Sshh~ Face tearing.

That vertically structured mouth reappeared, its teeth still uneven.

As he picked up the first piece of Sweet and Sour Pork and put it in his mouth, the familiar taste bloomed within.

Crack~ It seemed as though dusty memories were being unlocked.

As he consumed more delicacies, Mr. Qu's mouth gradually transformed from vertical to horizontal, aligning with a normal human's mouth location.

His teeth became orderly and arched to fit the food.

The taste structure inside his mouth developed, allowing his tongue to appear to savor the flavors properly.

He ate through more than half of the entire table of dishes.

The remaining people were shocked by such an exaggerated amount of consumption, while Hunter stood by, watching his eating process with a smile.

After the meal,

Mr. Qu's mouth had returned to normal, and his speech was nearly standard, though still with some consciousness barriers, "Delicious, thank... you."

"My duty is to ensure members within the school are satisfied with their food."

Mr. Qu stood up voluntarily and walked over.

This seemingly simple gesture made Hunter's smile freeze, cold sweat pouring from his pores.

This was the only blood flesh life form he'd seen that he couldn't analyze, couldn't effectively devour, and whose flesh even his teeth refused to bite.

Though the other party had no hostility, his body instinctively wanted to back away.

Yet his willpower held firm, standing in place until Mr. Qu approached.

Once again, they proactively shook hands.

As their palms touched, a strange flesh communication occurred at their fingertips.

"Tonight... let's talk."

"Okay."

Still chewing on a meatball, Luo Di naturally saw this scene.

For some reason, he felt a sense of relief; he no longer resented Hunter and even regarded him as a half-mentor.

He had expected this problematic creature, Mr. Qu, to cause trouble in Vortex Town, never imagining this turn of events.

Moreover, this meal helped restore some of his memories, and his subsequent life in Vortex Town and studies at school might fully bring him back to a normal state.

Hunter certainly had a knack.

Luo Di held a stuffed eggplant in his hand, contemplating future plans:

"Originally I planned to take Wu Wen to Jiang Mansion, but now it seems impossible. At this stage, it's definitely better to keep Mr. Qu at school.

He's just begun to adapt here, and if he goes with Wu Wen to contact Jiang Mansion, he might revert to his previous primitive state.

Moreover, I can't risk taking Wu Wen on an adventure; she's in a critical phase and should be breaking through soon.

It's too dangerous for me to go alone, much like Yu Ze said, they might not be interested in me but in my body.

I need to find someone to go with... I got it! There's definitely someone who will go."'

While Mr. Qu was communicating with Hunter,

Luo Di quietly transmitted his voice to Wu Wen, who was not far away, explaining the preparation to go to Jiang Mansion.

Although Wu Wen emphasized the danger, upon hearing about the partner Luo Di planned to find, she no longer worried.

Indeed, Wu Wen recently needed to integrate her system, just a step away from breaking through, with no time to go out.

Right after their quiet conversation ended, Luo Di's tongue subconsciously curled up, and he suddenly turned his head, only to find two hands gently resting on his shoulders.

A face with only a mouth was right beside him.

Just as Luo Di wanted to explain something, but didn't know what to say, the hands on his shoulders suddenly withdrew, and Mr. Qu returned to his seat.

He seemed very happy today, not paying attention to these little things.

The dinner ended.

As everyone walked out of the cafeteria together, preparing to do their own things, a new person appeared at the entrance.

An old man dressed in rags, with messy white hair.

He sat on a tattered cloth, with a broken bowl in front of him.

"Handsome guy, beautiful lady, have mercy, I haven't eaten a fresh tongue in days.

Can you cut out your tongues for me? It would be best to pull them out completely. If that's inconvenient, I can help you with it."

This white-haired old man seemed clear in his target, and as he spoke, he crawled over, his mud-stained hand grabbing Mr. Qu's trouser leg, his entire face seemed to spell out the word "pitiful."

This behavior was evidently dangerous, just as Wu Wen was about to explain in detail and introduce this beggar's identity,

Mr. Qu had already squatted down,

facing the dirty-faced "beggar" with his face and speaking with his new human mouth, haltingly: "You are strong... why... beg?"

The beggar revealed a smile, sticking out his tongue to explain: "I enjoy this feeling, the things obtained without effort are the most delicious."

"With my skills, I will give you..."

"Alright then."

An uncomplicated conversation,

But Luo Di had already sensed the air of danger, and immediately drew Wu Wen and Hua Yuan away together.

And simultaneously,

a Tongue Monster, which had completely erased its pheromones and didn't exist in reality, approached from behind Mr. Qu, about to strike.

Swish!

Countless red meat burst from his back, transforming into tiny meat columns piercing through the Tongue Monster, killing it on the spot.

Gust was also implicated, spitting a mouthful of fresh blood... However, the blood just happened to spray onto Mr. Qu.

The parts of his body stained with blood rapidly underwent an abnormal transformation, growing structures resembling tongues.

Numerous tongues began peeling away Mr. Qu's flesh... yet no matter how they peeled, the flesh beneath the skin hardly lessened. Sometimes, even before they peeled away, fresh flesh would regenerate ahead of time.

Infinity minus any real number is still infinity.

Nevertheless, a thick saliva seeped in at this opportunity, this was a special concoction of saliva Gust had been brewing over the past few days, fermenting within him.

Feeling a slight bodily discomfort,

the ordinarily cheerful Mr. Qu was provoked into revealing a part of his primal nature, directing a slap.

It wasn't a simple slap, as if a bloody tidal wave over several hundreds of meters crashed down at maximum speed.

Bang! A loud snapping sound.

The sound was so loud that even the cafeteria's glass windows shattered completely, and Luo Di and others had to cover their ears to withstand it.

Yet in the end, nothing much changed.

Gust was hit directly by the slap, the blast spreading, his whole body flung like mush, smashing through the campus wall and crashing through the structures of three streets before finally coming to a halt.

His body nearly collapsed, relying on the tongues within him to maintain coherence.

However, a smile hung on Gust's face, for a severed tongue was clutched tightly in his hand.

Inside the campus,

Mr. Qu touched his mouth, finding a segment of his tongue severed, recalling the previous events.

That beggar did not dodge the slap but stepped forward to meet it. The other party's arms transformed into extremely flexible tongue-like structures, entwining like serpents.

The saliva that had infiltrated his body previously concentrated and burst at this moment, causing the jaw muscles to suddenly malfunction, leaving his mouth open.

The theft was successful.

Since the other party obtained the tongue with skill, Mr. Qu no longer concerned himself, instead revealing a slightly manic smile.

"Interesting... town."
