Hunter: Growing Stronger with the Light of the Moon!

Chapter 72: The Visitor

Ed was speaking to Viktor when Uncle Du and Iris approached from behind.

Uncle Du immediately began asking after Ed's well-being, expressing his concern when he learned of Ed's injury.

"Being a Hunter is truly dangerous," he sighed.

"By the way, Ed, is there something you need?"

Ed asked directly, "While I was away, did anyone come by saying they had something to deliver to me?"

Uncle Du immediately remembered. "Yes, someone came by claiming they were here to deliver your challenge match reward. They came earlier."

"But perhaps it's because you've been gone for so long, they left for the time being. They said they must deliver the reward to you personally."

Before Ed could respond, there was a sudden knock on the door from outside.

"Hmm? Is someone here?" Uncle Du asked, then asked Iris to open the door. When the door was opened, it turned out to be the person who had come to deliver the reward earlier.

"Ah? What a coincidence?" Iris was slightly surprised. This person had arrived almost immediately after Ed's arrival.

However, Iris also remembered the last time she had met this person. Back then, she couldn't believe that Ed was the mysterious figure from the competition.

Now, looking back, she couldn't help but feel a sense of amazement.

"Ed, you're back, right?" The person at the door spoke in a neutral tone, holding a wooden box, focusing only on delivering the item.

Ed approached the door, and the person immediately handed the box to him, saying respectfully, "Ed, here is your reward from the previous challenge match. It has been delayed for quite some time, please forgive us!"

Ed took the box, which contained a meditation technique and one hundred gold coins.

While Ed didn't really care much for these items, the others behind him were staring with wide eyes.

"One hundred gold coins, and a B-level meditation technique. Ed, this is a huge fortune!" Uncle Du couldn't help but exclaim.

Viktor was also envious. As the son of the village chief, his family had accumulated wealth over several generations, and it had taken more than a hundred years to gather a hundred gold coins.

Ed had just won a single sparring match and earned one hundred gold coins in return. The gap between Hunters and ordinary people was just too vast!

Despite the compliments from those behind him, Ed showed little reaction. Just as he was closing the door after accepting the reward, the previous person delivering the reward had just left when another knock came at the door.

"Is Ed staying here? I've come to deliver something!"

Everyone froze for a moment. "Hmm? Is there someone else here?"

Ed immediately opened the door, and this time, standing outside was none other than Thomas.

Thomas, seeing Ed, was overjoyed. "Lord Ed, I've completed the task you gave me."

"This is the reward I got after exchanging points!"

With that, Thomas took out a storage pouch from his body and handed it to Ed.

Ed calmly took it. "Is that so? What was my ranking?"

"First place!" Thomas replied.

Upon hearing this, Ed's heart skipped a beat. Behind him, Uncle Du and the others were all visibly stunned.

"First place? Lord Ed is in first place?"

"Out of so many powerful associations, no one could beat Lord Ed alone?"

They all gasped, and Iris even covered her mouth with her hand, her eyes wide open.

They had expected Ed to rank high, but winning first place was still too unexpected.

Even Ed himself was a bit uncertain:

"I'm just an individual Hunter, and I came in first? Are you sure you're not mistaken?"

Thomas nodded vigorously. "How could I possibly make a mistake? Look, the reward has already been delivered."

"The points of most other associations just couldn't compare to yours. As for the only strong competitor, the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association..."

"It seems that because all of their participants died, their results can't be calculated."

At this point, Thomas couldn't help but add in a lower voice:

"Actually, Lord Ed, I think even if the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association's results weren't canceled, they still couldn't have beaten you..."

After all, the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association had been conservative in this competition. They didn't even go to the center of the arena at first, and Ed was the one who truly showed the most bravery.

Not to mention, the three participants from the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association were all killed by Ed...

However, Thomas didn't say any more about this. He would keep everything to himself.

After receiving the pouch, Ed raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Wasn't the reward for first place supposed to be that portable Sunlight Magic device? Is it mine now?"

Thomas nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, and there's a full ten thousand gold coins as well! It's all inside."

Ed sensed the contents of the pouch, and sure enough, it was exactly as Thomas had said. It was the first time he had this much money in his hands.

But his mood wasn't happy at all.

He was still under the watch of the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association, and no amount of money would matter if he ended up dead.

"Lord Ed, all ten thousand gold coins are in there, and I didn't take any for myself. Honestly, considering the effort I put in, taking one-tenth of it feels a bit excessive..." Thomas said.

One-tenth of ten thousand gold coins—that was a thousand gold coins! It was an enormous fortune that Thomas could hardly imagine!

But Ed's expression turned serious as he said:

"I told you one-tenth, and you'll get one-tenth. Don't misunderstand me."

His tone was cold, and his eyes carried a murderous intent, causing Thomas to instantly feel the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. Then, Ed's expression suddenly softened. He was growing impatient, and if he wasn't careful, his killing intent would leak out.

"Come with me. I'll give you your reward," Ed said clearly and simply, his tone now much calmer.

The two of them left the inn and walked to a corner of the street. There, Ed began to take the money out in front of Thomas.

Thomas, who had been startled earlier, now found himself swallowing nervously. A thousand gold coins—that was a small fortune!

But to his surprise, Ed didn't take out the money. Instead, he simply pulled out the portable Sunlight Magic device.

Then, with a casual toss, he handed Thomas the entire bag containing the ten thousand gold coins!

"Ah! Lord Ed, what is this?" Thomas was horrified. His face immediately showed fear and confusion.

Ed, however, remained calm as he spoke, "This money isn't all for you. Listen carefully to what I'm about to say."

"One thousand gold coins are yours. The rest, you're going to spend on purchasing life-saving potions, sword oil, magic items—whatever I need, I want the best!"

"Before nightfall, bring everything back here and return it to me. Do you understand?"

Thomas, finally coming to his senses, realized Ed was assigning him a task. He quickly nodded.

"Understood, understood. Don't worry, I'll get it done. But… am I really supposed to spend all ten thousand gold coins?"

"How many potions can that buy…"

Ed nodded affirmatively. "Spend it all. I don't want any subpar products. Do you understand?"

Thomas nodded seriously, "Yes, Lord Ed, I understand."

Ed knew that with such a short time frame, Thomas wouldn't be able to find anything particularly useful.

He had heard that high-level potions from advanced sorcerers often required pre-ordering or could only be obtained at auctions.

However, Ed didn't have that kind of time. Fortunately, ten thousand gold coins was a lot of money. He had used up all his trump cards, and now he needed to quickly replenish his supplies.

After sending Thomas off, Ed returned to his room, only to find the others inside still looking at him with that peculiar gaze.

"Lord Ed, you really came in first place and won a whole ten thousand gold coins! Plus, the portable Sunlight Magic device?" Viktor approached cautiously, his voice hesitant.

He looked as if he didn't dare to breathe too loudly.

Ed casually nodded, "Isn't it just a small thing? What's so surprising about it? Don't block the way, I need to get back to my room."

Upon hearing this, Viktor was momentarily stunned.

For some reason, he felt that Ed had changed since coming back from the competition. It was as though he had become a different person.

Ed suddenly realized that his attitude had indeed been off. Somehow, he was always feeling inexplicably impatient now.

He took a deep breath, and just as he was calming himself, Uncle Du and Viktor approached with concern on their faces.

"Ed, did something happen? You can talk to Uncle Du about it. I may be old and useless, but I've seen a lot in my time and can still give you some advice," Uncle Du said.

Ed felt a bit of warmth from his concern, but he wasn't ready to share anything about the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association. There was no need for it. Uncle Du and the others wouldn't be able to help, and Ed didn't want to involve them in any of this.

After hearing Uncle Du's words, Ed's expression shifted slightly. Then, he asked:

"Uncle Du, I'm fine, but I do have a question I'd like to ask."

"What exactly is this portable Sunlight Magic device?"

After all, Ed had no knowledge of this item.

When Uncle Du heard this, he was immediately taken aback. "Ed, you've never heard of such a thing? Let me explain it to you."

"This item is extremely valuable, but it's not that complicated. As the name suggests, it's a magic device that allows you to train even at night."

"It can store sunlight. It's said that the actual effect is a bit weaker than real sunlight, but it still allows for training at night!"

Ed furrowed his brows. "Is that so? But the sunlight energy inside—could it be infinite? Can it be used continuously?"

Uncle Du immediately replied, "Of course not. Once it's used up, it needs to be placed in sunlight during the day to recharge. The longer it charges, the longer it can be used!"
