In the sky, the black swarm of mosquitoes, resembling a dark cloud, blocked the sunlight, plunging the earth into instant darkness.
Ed watched the strange phenomenon in the sky. He didn't know what these massive mosquitoes were or what kind of monsters they represented.
The Emperor of the Human Empire, David Holden, the Dark Elf Queen, the King of Orcs, and the King of Dwarves all saw the spectacle. Their expressions immediately became grave.
David Holden tightened his grip on his massive hammer and said in a deep voice, "It's those monsters from the Moon Worship Sect!"
Among the creatures, there were terrifying beings, such as the mosquitoes in the sky, which were summoned by the insect queen known as The Source of Death.
And within the swarm of mosquitoes, there were other powerful creatures as well.
Ed took a deep breath. He could feel the danger emanating from the mosquito swarm, but when he looked at the expressions of the four race kings, although serious, they showed no fear or hesitation—instead, their faces were filled with battle intent.
Ed felt that they should be able to handle the enemies in front of them.
Just as Ed began to relax a little, the ground suddenly trembled. A mound of earth rose up in the distance, and it began moving rapidly.
As the mound got closer, it suddenly stopped. Then, a truly grotesque monster appeared before everyone.
The creature was enormous, resembling a long wall made of countless fleshy masses, covered in sticky red liquid, emanating a foul stench.
The moment the monster appeared, the Dark Elf Queen's pupils dilated slightly, and her breathing became labored. She slowly spoke:
"Why is it here? The creature known as The Flesh Devourer should have died long ago."
Clearly, this was a creature formidable enough to make the powerful Dark Elf Queen uneasy.
But this wasn't the end. A strange flute melody began to play softly, and in the distance, a massive black hill moved quickly toward them. It was a mountain made up of countless giant black rats.
Atop this black mountain, a Piper dressed in black robes was slowly playing his flute.
And behind the Piper, a massive dragon with three heads and green, pus-like liquid dripping from its body was circling in the sky.
The insect queen known as The Source of Death, the creature known as The Flesh Devourer, the Piper, and the disgusting multi-headed dragon soon occupied all four directions.
Ed looked at the monsters, gripping his golden longsword tightly. Although he was already a Sun Level Hunter, standing before such terrifying creatures made it clear to him that he was no match for them.
It was now time for the top warriors of both sides to step forward. The Emperor of the Human Empire, David Holden, swung his massive hammer and pointed toward the Piper, saying:
"I'll handle these filthy rats."
The Dark Elf Queen shifted her focus to the swarm of mosquitoes in the sky. She took a deep breath and said, "Then I'll deal with those disgusting mosquitoes."
The King of Orcs, without hesitation, walked toward the three-headed dragon.
As for the King of Dwarves, he had no choice. With a helpless sigh, he moved toward the final horrifying monster.
Sophia handed Ed a black cloth bag and whispered, "Lord Ed, inside here are fragments of Delphilis. You must remember, only after you have absorbed Delphilis' heart can you absorb these fragments."
"If you try to absorb them beforehand, I can't predict what might happen, but it will definitely have a negative impact, reducing your chances of saving the world and preventing the Evil God's awakening."
Ed took the black cloth bag from Sophia's hands and nodded.
At that moment, the battle truly began.
Countless warriors raised their weapons and moved toward the Tree of Life, ready to clear a path for Ed by taking down the surrounding monsters.
The battle between the four kings and the four terrifying monsters also raged on.
Ed, in the center of the crowd, knew exactly what he had to do. Even as warriors fell around him, he would not stop.
The sounds of weapons clashing against flesh, the cries of battle, and the screams of pain turned the once peaceful Elf Kingdom ruins into a hellish battlefield.
The scent of blood filled Ed's nostrils as he walked resolutely toward the Tree of Life.
As the number of warriors around him continued to dwindle, Ed drew closer to his destination.
When he finally reached the vicinity of the Tree of Life, he suddenly realized that the number of warriors around him had been reduced by half!
Moreover, there was an unrelenting tide of monsters surging toward them from all directions.
Sophia, covered in blood, didn't hesitate to position herself protectively behind Ed. She gave him a determined look and shouted, "Lord Ed, you can enter the Tree of Life now!"
"All the hope is on you!"
Ed glanced at the half-dying Tree of Life ahead and, without hesitation, walked toward it.
The thick trunk of the Tree of Life suddenly cracked open, creating a gap just wide enough for Ed to pass through.
As Ed stepped into the gap, he was astonished to find himself inside the interior space of the Tree of Life.
It was a completely pure white space, with only one black heart in the center, continuously beating.
Ed knew immediately that this must be Delphilis' heart.
Just as he reached out his hand, ready to touch Delphilis' heart, a voice suddenly spoke:
"Are you really going to save this world, a world filled with conflict, death, and suffering?"
Ed quickly turned toward the source of the voice. Behind the heart of Delphilis, a shadowy figure appeared.
He froze when he saw it because the figure looked exactly like him!
Ed slightly shook his head and thought to himself, "An illusion! It must be an illusion!"
But just as he thought this, the shadowy figure spoke again:
"I'm asking you, are you really going to save this world?"
"It's not worth it. It's doomed to be destroyed."
"It's too painful. This world is filled with oppression, conflict, suffering, and sorrow, and nothing can change that. You can see the inevitable end from the very beginning."
Ed didn't respond. Instead, he continued to extend his hand, determined to touch Delphilis' heart.
The ethereal voice slowly faded away, leaving behind only a long sigh.
The moment Ed's fingers touched the black heart of Delphilis, it instantly turned to liquid and flowed directly into his body.
Then, the black cloth bag that Sophia had given him, containing Delphilis' fragments, flew out on its own and began to merge into Ed's body.
Ed could feel something inside him becoming whole. He recalled what Sophia had said about the God of Creation, who had fused the power of the gods with the Evil God's power to create a sphere of light.
The light sphere inside him and the light energy from Delphilis' body fragments were rapidly merging together, becoming whole and powerful.
At that moment, a message appeared in front of Ed:
[Congratulations, you have gained the highest authority in this world, and you now possess the power of a god.]
Ed stared at the message. His mind was flooded with countless pieces of knowledge. He now had a different understanding of this world, of everything in it.
Curious, he gently tapped the message in front of him. The moment he did, the information and the words vanished.
It was only at this moment that Ed understood. The reason he was able to see the information prompts, to increase his strength, and to receive rewards, was all because of the light sphere inside him.
That sphere contained the power of the God of Creation and the Evil God, granting him dominion over the world. It had simply manifested in a way that Ed could understand.
Now, he no longer needed to rely on that form to wield this power, though, if he wished, the previous information prompts would still appear before his eyes.
Ed slowly closed his eyes. He faintly sensed an indescribable gaze piercing through the space, watching him.
It was the gaze of the Evil God, still not fully awakened!
Just as Ed was about to take out the red gem that would lead him to the Evil God's sealed location, the voice from before suddenly reappeared in his mind, speaking once again:
"Are you really going to let this world, doomed to destruction and decay, continue suffering?"
Ed replied, "Delphilis, you're already dead. What's left of you is just a fragment of consciousness. I don't have to do anything, and you will vanish."
It seemed that Delphilis didn't hear Ed's words. The voice simply continued:
"It's meaningless. Even if you temporarily defeat the Evil God, as long as this world exists, as long as there is suffering, the Evil God will return."
"Now, you should understand what the Evil God truly is."
Ed took a deep breath. After fully absorbing all of Delphilis' fragments, he finally understood what Delphilis had meant when he spoke of the Evil God.
The so-called Evil God was the very cause of the fall of the gods, the being that filled the moonlight with cold, ominous energy. In reality, the Evil God was the product of all the intelligent beings in this world.
In other words, the Evil God was a part of this world.
