Hunter: Growing Stronger with the Light of the Moon!

Chapter 122: Lucky Dice

Time passed slowly, and when the progress reached 100%, Ed suddenly opened his eyes.

[Progress towards breaking through to Silver level mid-tier: 100%]

[Special item reward obtained: Lucky Dice]

The next moment, a dice glowing with a silver-white light floated before Ed.

Ed immediately widened his eyes, instinctively scanning his surroundings. There was no one else in sight. The room was eerily quiet, with only the sound of Ed's breathing filling the space.

Neither his Killer Intent Perception nor his Hunter's senses detected the presence of anyone else in the room.

At that moment, Ed's surprise and shock were beyond control.

He stared at the silver-glowing dice in front of him and slowly murmured, "Created out of thin air, appearing out of nowhere—what in the world is going on?"

Earlier, his mastery of swordsmanship, Killer Intent Perception, and the low-tier Hunter's Manual were all intangible, things that didn't exist in the real world.

But the silver-glowing Lucky Dice in front of him was something entirely different!

Ed carefully extended his hand. As soon as his finger made contact with the silver dice, a flood of information about how to use the Lucky Dice appeared in his mind.

The Lucky Dice was a magical special item. When the rolled number was six, the user would receive a comprehensive combat power boost for one hour. For Hunters below Gold-tier, their rank would ascend by two subclasses. Those at Gold-tier or beyond would gain one subclass.

When the rolled number wasn't six, it would reduce the user's strength for one day. The higher the rolled number, the greater the reduction in strength.

After using the Lucky Dice, it needed to recharge slowly. However, it could be recharged quickly by rolling a six.

If the user rolled six sixes consecutively, the Lucky Dice would fully recharge, with all the dice faces glowing with silver light.

Of course, if the rolls failed, it would subtract from the recharge. If the first recharge roll failed, one point of recharge would be deducted… and if the sixth roll failed, six points of recharge would be lost.

When the recharge points reached zero, the Lucky Dice would disappear completely.

Ed stared at the Lucky Dice in his hand, feeling an overwhelming urge to rub his eyes. "Gold level Hunter below, increase two tiers?"

Increase two tiers!

What did that even mean? He was currently a Silver level mid-tier Hunter, and with just one use of the Lucky Dice and a roll of six, his strength would instantly elevate to Gold level low-tier Hunter for one hour!

Ed struggled to maintain his inner calm; his face was full of anticipation and excitement.

When faced with the monstrous Reve attacking him, Ed had appeared fearful and desperate, but that was only to get Reve to reveal crucial evidence.

The truth was, the Lucky Dice he had received for breaking through from Silver level low-tier Hunter to Silver level mid-tier Hunter had caused a dramatic shift in Ed's emotions.

He took a deep breath, then walked out of his room and knocked on the door to Melissa's room.

Melissa, her silk nightgown slipping off one shoulder, gazed at Ed through half-lidded eyes. Slowly, she said, "What's going on? Not now, I'm still not fully rested. Let me sleep a little longer, and I'll come to your room later."

Ed, noticing the unintentional charm in Melissa's appearance, instinctively swallowed. He wasn't here to sleep with Melissa, though.

He said seriously, "Melissa, is there something, or some kind of item, that can make objects appear out of nowhere?"

Melissa's eyes snapped open in surprise. She looked at him with a hint of confusion and reached out her soft right hand, placing it on Ed's forehead. She checked his temperature carefully, then slowly said, "Strange… you're not hot. You shouldn't have a fever."

Ed repeated his question, his face earnest. Only then did Melissa answer properly.

"Teleportation magic or a Teleportation scroll can make items move from one place to another, but that requires the item to already exist in the first place before it can be transported to another location."

"As for what you're asking about—making something appear out of nowhere—that's impossible!"

"What happened?" she asked.

Ed fell into deep thought. The scene with the Lucky Dice appearing out of nowhere had shocked him so much that he didn't know how to explain it to Melissa.

If what Melissa said was true—that the appearance of the Lucky Dice was based on a principle like that of a Teleportation scroll or magic—then it, along with his swordsmanship mastery, Killer Intent Perception, and Low-Level Monster Codex, must all come from the same source. But where could that place be?

It couldn't possibly be the moon, could it?

Ed suddenly froze. He walked directly into Melissa's room, opened the window as wide as it would go, and tilted his head slightly, staring up at the moon in the sky.

The towering moon was unremarkable, its surface uneven and pockmarked, casting a cold, eerie light.

Melissa, curious, spoke again, "What's going on, Ed? You came to find me in the middle of the night just to ask if items can appear out of nowhere?"

Ed shook his head, thinking for a moment before answering, "It's nothing. Just a question that came to mind. I'll talk to you about it later. I just want to be alone for now."

With that, Ed turned and left, heading back to his room.

Melissa, however, stared at Ed's retreating figure, deep in thought.

Once back in his room, Ed found himself once again walking to the window. He raised his head, gazing at the moon in the sky, lost in thought.

Everything seemed to start with the Moonlight Meditation Technique. Whether it was his strength improvement, his mastery of swordsmanship, or his Killer Intent Perception, all the rewards seemed to be connected to one thing: the moonlight!

Why did other Hunters only practice in sunlight, while he could only practice in moonlight to increase his strength?

Was it because his body was special, capable of absorbing the energy in the moonlight? Or was it because of the moon itself, high up in the sky?

As Ed pondered this, he suddenly felt as if a gaze was watching him.

The gaze was coming from above!

It was coming from the moon!

Ed's eyes widened in shock. What was that? He saw a huge eye, replacing the moon itself, hanging in the sky, staring directly at him!

Instantly, every hair on Ed's body stood on end, and countless goosebumps appeared. An eerie chill spread through him, making his body shiver slightly.

He forcefully shut his eyes, then looked up at the sky again. But the enormous eye was gone.

It was as if everything he had just seen was a mere illusion, but Ed was certain that it wasn't an illusion!

His body's instinctual reaction couldn't deceive him. What had happened was real!

He had truly seen a giant eye in the sky, and that eye had been staring at him!

Taking a deep breath, Ed rubbed his face vigorously, trying to calm himself down.

Most people would have been paralyzed with fear after seeing what he just saw, but Ed was quickly regaining his composure.

He took out the Lucky Dice, examining it carefully, trying to find something unusual.

He wasn't sure how much time passed before he finally put the Lucky Dice away.

Now, a huge question was lingering in Ed's mind: When did the moon begin to appear for longer than the sun, casting moonlight so intense that it became unbearable for humans and caused monsters to become more active and excited? What had happened in the past?

His body could absorb the moonlight, could gain rewards from it—what was the reason behind all of this?

With this question in his mind, Ed didn't continue his meditation practice to increase his strength as he usually would. Instead, he closed the window, drew the curtains to block out the moonlight, and lay down on the bed. He needed to rest properly.

The next morning, Ed didn't wake up until long after the sun had risen.

It was Melissa's knock on the door that finally stirred him from his sleep. He got out of bed and went to open the door for her.

As soon as Melissa saw Ed, she instinctively furrowed her brow. Why did it seem like Ed looked more exhausted than she did?

Could it be that he was already weakened from her repeatedly waking him up the previous night?

Melissa was about to ask him what was going on when she watched Ed pull out a silver dice and place it in front of her, asking, "Melissa, can you tell what material this dice is made of?"

Melissa observed it carefully and replied, "Isn't this just an ordinary dice? It's just silver-colored."

Hearing Melissa's response, Ed immediately realized that she couldn't see the silver light emitting from the Lucky Dice. She could only see its silver exterior.

Ed shook his head, taking deep breaths to calm himself. He needed to focus all his energy on preventing the crisis in Dorey City.

As for the strange things happening to his body, and the rewards he had gained from breaking through his Hunter rank, he would wait until he had more time later to figure it all out.

What mattered now were Finniel Morton and her group, the Parasitic Serpent Monster Vil, Reve, and the other hidden enemies.

With this thought, Ed told Melissa that he would explain everything about what had happened yesterday at a later time.

Once Melissa left, Ed was alone in his room. He placed the Lucky Dice and the high-level spiritual treasures from his storage bag together.

Since Arya was around, Ed decided it was best not to use the high-level spiritual treasures unless absolutely necessary, in case of extreme danger.

As for the Lucky Dice, it could only enhance his strength if he rolled a six. A one-in-six chance—was it really all down to luck?
