Hunter: Growing Stronger with the Light of the Moon!

Chapter 108: Melissa’s Response

Ed was tired of dealing with someone like Andrew; he was simply wasting time. Ed planned to investigate Hurricane Horsewalk, the apothecaries run by the Lord's Mansion, and the issue of the infectious disease between warhorses once he got back.

He also intended to gather information on Anthony and see if he could turn him into an undercover agent by placing him next to Reve, the vice-captain.

Suddenly, Ed realized that the dangers within Dorey City were just as serious as those posed by the monsters outside the city. If given the choice, Ed would have preferred to face the monsters outside.

Conspiracies and schemes were like invisible blades—one wrong move, and someone would be struck deeply.

Ed didn't say anything more. He simply helped the warhorse's owner lift his sick wife and prepared to leave.

Unexpectedly, Andrew still wanted to perform for Melissa.

Andrew suddenly spoke up, "Mr. Ed, your decision to take the warhorse without doing anything is undoubtedly causing harm to all the warhorses in Dorey City. This is an incredibly selfish act!"

Upon hearing this, Ed turned around to glance at Andrew's face, which wore a very righteous expression. He smiled and said to Andrew, "Some people ignored the suffering of others before, and now they stand on their moral high ground to condemn others. It's really shameless. You should be thankful that I'm in a hurry."

"This is a hybrid warhorse. It will not contract the disease."

"You ignorant fool."

After saying that, Ed completely ignored Andrew's confused and angry expression. He turned and led Iris, the warhorse's owner, and the sick woman away from the scene.

Melissa gave the all-black warhorse a few more glances, clearly surprised by Ed's actions. She said, "Not bad, Ed. If you hadn't said anything, I wouldn't have realized how high the hybrid level of this warhorse is. There's absolutely nothing unusual about it. How did you figure it out?"

Melissa didn't even glance at Andrew. All her attention was on Ed.

Andrew still wanted to say something, but everything he tried to say was completely ignored by Melissa. At that moment, he looked like a ridiculous fool, staring blankly as Melissa followed Ed away.

It wasn't until Melissa's figure disappeared completely from Andrew's sight that he whispered to his subordinate beside him, "Do you remember what that sick woman looked like? Tell our apothecary—no doctor is to treat her! Go now!"

Meanwhile, Ed, along with the warhorse's owner, the sick woman, Iris, and Melissa, arrived at Uncle Du's inn. He wasn't planning on taking the sick woman to the apothecary in Dorey City because she was far too weak, and Ed felt she wouldn't make it that far.

The best doctor was right here, and that was Melissa. Previously, when Ed had been seriously injured, it was Melissa who had treated him and helped him recover.

However, asking Melissa for help meant Ed would owe her a favor. After all, this time it was for a stranger, and Ed couldn't just demand that Melissa treat her without consideration.

After briefly explaining his thoughts to Melissa, Ed expected her to negotiate or ask for something in return, but to his surprise, she simply nodded and agreed without hesitation.

Melissa then led the sick woman into a room to begin the treatment.

Outside, the warhorse's owner was still pacing anxiously back and forth. Ed could only offer reassurance, saying, "Don't worry, Melissa is a powerful sorcerer from the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association. She will definitely be able to cure your wife."

"Compared to going to the apothecary for medicine, which wouldn't cure your wife's illness completely, my suggestion is clearly the better option."

Earlier, when Ed had quietly discussed things with the man, he had brought up this matter. His supply of gold coins wasn't enough, but if he could auction off a good hybrid warhorse, it would definitely fetch over a thousand gold coins.

Without the extra coins, Ed didn't want to miss the opportunity, so he made a deal with the man. As long as he could help cure the man's wife, all three warhorses would be Ed's.

For that, Ed only needed to ask Melissa for help, which was no trouble at all.

Upon hearing Ed's reassurance, especially regarding Melissa's identity as a sorcerer, the man seemed to relax a little. He sat down on a chair and let out a helpless sigh.

Ed asked the man about his situation, wanting to understand more about the previous outbreak of the disease and if there were any notable details.

The man spoke in a rush, telling Ed a lot. He had once been a warhorse trader, but due to the outbreak of the disease and his financial troubles, eighty percent of his warhorses had died from the infection, leading to his complete bankruptcy.

Now, only three warhorses remained, and they were the best of the lot.

There were many others in a similar situation. The man knew of several, including his benefactor, Carlo, who had led him into the warhorse trading business. Carlo had also gone bankrupt because of the disease and had ultimately taken his own life.

The man sighed again and slowly said, "I still don't understand why Carlo suddenly chose to commit suicide. He told me more than once that success comes with failure, but as long as you don't give up, success is certain!"

"At that time, Carlo's son had successfully been tested for Hunter qualifications. How could he abandon his beloved son and choose to end his life?"

Hunter qualifications?

Ed was curious and asked for Carlo's son's name. To his surprise, this person was someone Ed knew.

Carlo's son was none other than Anthony from the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association!

What an odd coincidence. Anthony's father had been a warhorse dealer, and he had committed suicide?

From the man's account, Ed could tell that Carlo's death was definitely not as simple as a suicide. It might have been a murder disguised as suicide.

Ed hadn't expected to make such an unexpected discovery today. In addition to the three warhorses, he had gathered useful information about Anthony.

It seemed like his luck was quite good today!

Soon after, when Melissa walked out of the room, she sat down tiredly in a chair and said, "She's fine now. Just be sure to avoid overexertion, and she should be able to prevent the illness from recurring."

The man was deeply grateful and immediately attempted to kneel, but Ed had to stop him, repeatedly emphasizing that this was a transaction.

After the man went into the room to check on his wife, the inn's lobby finally quieted down.

Iris was watching Ed and Melissa intently. The moment she laid eyes on Melissa, she felt a little uncomfortable. This sorcerer was just too beautiful, mature and stunning, especially with her large chest, which made Iris feel completely inadequate.

Thinking this, Iris glanced down at her own chest, feeling a wave of disappointment.

Her chest was not small, but compared to Melissa's, it was in an entirely different league!

Suddenly, a thought popped into Iris's mind—was Ed someone who preferred larger breasts?

Feeling a little irritated, Iris instinctively moved closer to Uncle Du and muttered gloomily, "What should I do?"

Uncle Du glanced at Melissa, then turned his head to look at Iris. With a helpless sigh, he slowly replied, "What else can you do? I was quite popular in my time too, but your mother didn't back down at all. She was sincere and brave."

"Young men like Ed, if this drags on, the number of outstanding people around him will only keep increasing."

Ed awkwardly rubbed his nose. His hearing was sharp, and it was clear that Melissa had heard as well. She smiled happily and whispered to Ed, "Between me and her, which one do you prefer?"

Ed didn't respond. Instead, he asked Melissa how she had ended up at the gate of Hurricane Horsewalk earlier.

Melissa briefly explained that she had shared Ed's suspicions about Dorey City with a friend from the Lord's Mansion. To avoid that friend dismissing everything as just the speculation of an ordinary Hunter, Melissa hadn't mentioned Ed's name.

She told her friend that it was all her own theory and wanted to ensure the friend took it more seriously so that it could be relayed quickly to Lord Gavin of Dorey City.

Ed had no objections to this. As long as Dorey City was alerted in advance, that was all that mattered to him; the rest was of no concern.

After spending some more time at Uncle Du's inn, Ed noticed that it was getting late, so he bid Uncle Du and Iris farewell.

He now had three warhorses, and the one that was completely black with a white lightning-shaped mark on its forehead, Ed decided to keep for himself. As for the other two, he planned to give them to Toronto and Ford.

These two had lent him quite a few contribution points before, so Ed felt he should show some appreciation. Besides, these two warhorses were much better than the ones Toronto and Ford were currently using.

It seemed like the perfect gift.

Additionally, Ed still needed Toronto and Ford to spend some time investigating the apothecary at the Lord's Mansion, Hurricane Horsewalk, and the infectious disease issue.

Thinking about this, Ed remembered what Iris had said about the fact that the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association was behind Hurricane Horsewalk.

He decided to ask Melissa if she knew anything about this.

Melissa's answer surprised Ed a little. She said, "Not really. It seems that only Vice-Captain Reve is involved in Hurricane Horsewalk, and no one else is."

Ed paused for a moment. Hurricane Horsewalk is connected to Reve?
