Standing Next To You

Chapter 614: Sincerity

"When did he prepare all of this...?" she murmured, her heart swelling.

One dress in particular caught her eye—a dusty blue off-shoulder midi dress, just a few shades lighter than the gemstones in the Tears of Mermaid jewelry set. The color contrast made the gems pop all the more. Without hesitation, she picked the dress and slipped into it.

Standing in front of the mirror, Bei Sangyun was content. The dress hugged her curves perfectly, and the sapphire-colored gems on her earrings and necklace shimmered beautifully under the lights.

She applied a touch of light makeup, then walked over to retrieve the small gift box. Holding it close to her chest, excitement bubbled within her.

Tonight... she would be the one to give a gift.

As she passed through the living room, something else caught her eye—a neat stack of red folders on the table. In this house where everything was new, this stack of papers were particularly glaring. Curious, she walked over. A yellow post-it note was stuck to the top one.

Fei Chuan's familiar handwriting read:

[This is my gift for you.]

Bei Sangyun blinked, surprised. A gift… in the form of paperwork?

She picked up the first folder and sat on the couch. Inside, there was another note:

[Take your time to read. This is my way of showing you my sincerity ;) ]

She let out a soft laugh at the little winking smiley face. Fei Chuan was getting childish these days—and she was loving it.

Both of them had matured early. Their childhood ended quickly, and they were forced to grow up and become more decisive than most adults. It was only now, when they were together, that they could relax and show their childish side.

Bei Sangyun still had a smile on her face as she carefully set aside the post-it note. But her amusement faded into silence as she saw the documents underneath and began to examine them.

They were property titles—official documents for the villa and land, first under Fei Chuan's name, now transferred to hers.

Her breath caught.

She had already suspected that this house had been built with her in mind. But seeing the legal confirmation—the black-and-white truth laid out before her—still moved her deeply.

"What an expensive gift..." she whispered. A soft, overwhelmed smile tugged at her lips. "When did he plan all of this?"

He must have been preparing for this day for a long time. Not only was the house tailored to her tastes, but the surrounding land had been cultivated with care and vision.

Ever since she overturned the Lin family and created Phoenix Holdings, Bei Sangyun had never lacked anything—be it a house, money, or resources. Owning a villa under her name was never a problem; she could have one if she wanted to.

But to have someone gift it to her—prepared without her knowledge—made this gift all the more precious.

For a man to build a house for a woman… wasn't that proof of his devotion? Her heart swelled.

As she swallowed the emotion swelling in her chest, her gaze shifted to the remaining red folders on the table.

If the first folder contained something as monumental as a house and land… then what could possibly be in the others?

The first gift alone was already overwhelming.

She opened the next folder, and as she read the contents, the smile on her face slowly froze.

It was a legal document declaring Bei Sangyun as the co-holder of Fei Chuan's company. The shares under his name were now entrusted to her—she had full authority to manage, use, and decide as she saw fit. In essence, whatever power Fei Chuan held within the company was now hers as well.

Bei Sangyun's eyes widened in disbelief.

Her mind flashed back to the towering office building she had once visited, and the polite greetings of the high-ranking employees in the lobby.

She checked the date on the document.

Three weeks ago.

So, during that visit, everyone in a high position must have already known who she was—the co-holder. No wonder they looked at her that way. It wasn't just because she was a guest brought by the CEO. She was their new boss.

Was Fei Chuan crazy?! How could he give something like this so casually?!

Her fingers trembled as she held the papers. As a businesswoman, she understood the weight of such a title. This wasn't just a generous gesture—it was a transfer of authority. A silent but powerful vow of trust.

This wasn't just a gift. It was... commitment.

Her gaze slowly shifted to the remaining folders stacked neatly on the table. Her heart began to race. She wanted to run to Fei Chuan, to demand what was going through his mind when he made such a bold decision. But there were still a few folders left on the table.

With shaking hands, she reached for the next one.

This time, the documents named her as the co-holder of several of Fei Chuan's personal properties—luxury apartments, commercial buildings, and vast parcels of land. Every single one granted her full rights of access and management.

As she flipped through each page, her breath caught. She had always known Fei Chuan was successful... but this—this level of wealth—was staggering.

And yet what shocked her more wasn't the assets themselves, but the fact that he laid everything bare for her. That he willingly gave her the power to use, keep, or even destroy what he had built.

The dates varied—some from a month ago, others two, and many just recently. She recalled how busy Fei Chuan had been over the past few weeks. So this was what he had been preparing.

Bei Sangyun's chest tightened. She wasn't moved by the wealth—not the gold, the land, or the buildings—but by the meaning behind all of it.

He was giving her his everything.

She finally reached the last folder.

It was different from the rest. Fewer pages. The content related to the James family.
