Dark Sand: My Players Are All Actors

Chapter 350: Buy Some Sunflower Seeds to Comfort Yourself

Gonggong, baffled, eyed the equally bewildered players as both exchanged puzzled glances, freezing in place for a moment.

For Gonggong, this scene was entirely unexpected.

"Weren't I supposed to have killed the real Reckoner by collision?"

Without the Reckoner, these native phantom spirits should have vanished instantly, turning into harmless positive energy dissolving throughout the entire historical slice. Only heroic spirits like Emperor Taizong of Liang and General Han Fuyue might maintain their human form, but they wouldn't last long under the attack of demons...

But why, it seemed as if these native phantoms had not been affected at all?

For the players, this scene had also left them somewhat perplexed.

Is this the mighty demon?

How come it looks so insubstantial?

Gonggong, with a human head and snake body, was once hovering in the sky wrapped in Demonic Qi like a black dragon at a banquet, exerting immense pressure on the players.

But now, still having a human head and snake body, its size was drastically reduced. To the players' eyes, it now looked like a harmless little snake, curled up in the pit, looking at them with a confused expression.

Of course, when saying "little snake," it was in comparison to its original size. Gonggong was still about two to three meters high, but compared to the colossal being it was before, it now seemed quite miniature.

Gonggong's body started to tremble slightly.

"What's going on? Could it be that the real Reckoner isn't in the Reckoner's fortress?"

It couldn't accept this reality, but given the circumstances, there was no other explanation.

The two sides stared at each other, none able to react initially.

After a moment, one player seemed to snap out of it and "swoosh" released an arrow.

"Pfft," the arrow laced with positive energy hit Gonggong's demonic body, quickly eroded by the Demonic Qi and vanishing, but some of the Demonic Qi on Gonggong was clearly eradicated.

The players immediately reacted, "Charge!"

Previously, Gonggong was too terrifying, revolving in the sky like a dark demonic dragon, leaving the players with no way to attack it.

After all, it was too high and too big; their arrows or catapults couldn't reach it, plus even if they did, it likely wouldn't cause much damage.

But now it was different, although Gonggong was still quite large, it was clearly now within the "quick-kill" boss range.

"Damn it!!!"

Furious, Gonggong couldn't accept that these native phantoms, akin to ants, were disrespecting it; their gaze was no different from how they'd look at easily manipulable demonic soldiers.

Its snake body whirled swiftly and it charged headfirst towards the player who ran up first!

"Boom!"

A loud noise ensued and a line of players, including that player, was wiped out, leaving a deep ravine in the ground.

"Man, this boss has some guts! Quick, disperse and maintain a dispersed formation!"

The players quickly adapted their strategy, swiftly shifting their formation to continue surrounding Gonggong.

They continued their tradition of excellent coordination in taking down bosses, nimble players at the front attracting hostility, while players at the back continuously shot arrows, hurled spears, or chanted verses to inflict greater damage on Gonggong.

Gonggong had never seen such tactics.

Although a powerful demon by nature, it always guarded in later historical slices due to its formidable strength. Ordinary Reckoners hardly made it this far, and even if they did, Gonggong's home-field and absolute power advantage meant it usually won without needing tactics.

Even on the rare occasions that a Reckoner gave it a tough fight, it was never like this.

Who plays like this?

It felt like it had power it couldn't use. These native phantoms before it were clearly not strong, even pretty weak, and even though Gonggong's power after its startling transformation was reduced to a tenth, eradicating these people should have been easy.

But after shrinking, it found it couldn't touch them!

They were slippery like loaches, stealing touches here, grazing there, and every time Gonggong furiously swiped, it often missed incredulously; even if it hit, it only eliminated one or two players, barely making a dent.

"Damn it!!"

Gonggong roared furiously, now at the breaking point, and gathered up its remaining strength to charge again!

"Boom!" a loud noise followed and several players who had been teasing and pulling aggression were instantly vaporized.

Not only that, the fanshaped area behind where Gonggong struck deepened, and the players inside, looking completely baffled, were sent back to the respawn point.

Moreover, most of them had no more respawns left, so they could only watch the remainder of the battle helplessly from the respawn point as spirits.

After this charge, Gonggong's size shrank again, and the players swarmed it, quickly dispatching this avatar of it.

After the battle ended, the players began clearing the battlefield.

And they provided their review of the demon.

"Not bad, the action was full on, probably the most entertained by a demon since Xingtian."

"We need to specifically criticize Feilian, what an embarrassment, just keeps running."

"That charge really brought out the epicness, but... what about our fortress! We need to rebuild from scratch!"

"No worries, it's all written in the plot, just keep the story moving forward. Used to this kind of bricklaying already."

Counting the losses after clearing the battlefield, they found that although the damage was severe, it was within acceptable limits.

Gonggong's earthshattering charge had wiped out all the Reckoner fortress players and also caused serious damage, but after all, only a few players were inside.

Most of the players were still fighting in the wilderness and Gonggong's rear.

What they couldn't understand was why Gonggong didn't charge at the wilderness battlefield instead? Weren't there more people there?

Soon, the surviving players finished clearing the battlefield and prepared to head to the open field to support the players fighting against Kua Fu.

...

"Charge!!"

Players shouted loudly, rushing towards the open battlefield.

However, as the visibility of the battlefield ahead gradually became clearer, they were stunned.

The passion they had before was instantly doused with a chilling reality.

Because the battle here had already ended!

Although players could communicate with each other, too many channels were simply too overwhelming to follow and created chaos. So most players still only listened to their own squad leader's command during combat and didn't have the time to concern themselves with other areas.

Both of these battlefields experienced fierce combat, so players who were fully engaged in battle also didn't have much energy left to pay attention to what was happening on the other battlefield.

After wrapping things up at the city Siege, the battle on the open field was also drawing to a close. By the time the players arrived, the battle had just ended.

These players had already climbed up high mountains, some sat on the ground, some grouped collaboratively, and some simply sat on trees—only short of bringing a small stool and starting to eat sunflower seeds.

The newcomers were confused, "What's going on?"

"Oh, nothing much, the battle has ended," one player replied.

The newcomers were even more confused, "Then what are you doing here?"

The player answered, "We are watching Lord Qin's performance."

The newcomers followed the direction of the other players' gazes, only to see Lord Qin wildly galloping ahead in the distance, while Kua Fu was furiously chasing after him.

Every time Kua Fu almost caught up, Lord Qin would turn around and shoot an arrow at Kua Fu, drastically reducing its speed.

Kua Fu bellowed in anger, but it had no long-range attack capabilities like Lord Qin. Sometimes it could only use Demonic Qi to form rocks or a staff to throw, but all were easily dodged by Lord Qin with exquisite riding skills.

The cycle repeated itself.

Finally, it seemed that Lord Qin's quiver was almost out of arrows. He then started to make a big loop on his horse, gradually running back.

Players started standing up.

"Action time!"

"Quick, quick, quick, get in formation, prepare to close the net!"

Divine Machine players were already prepared, having set up various cannons and muskets, cavalry on both wings, and the middle filled with archers and Divine Arm Bows forming the array.

Kua Fu was beyond furious, its vision and mind fixated only on the running Lord Qin in front.

So furious!

Cunning spirit!

However, Kua Fu also noticed that the arrows in Lord Qin's quiver were almost depleted and, without arrows, Kua Fu was confident it could soon catch Lord Qin.

Then it would win!

However, at that moment, Lord Qin slapped his horse's rear, and the warhorse instantly drifted, returning to the players' formation.

It had a flair of drifting into a garage.

Kua Fu snorted coldly, "What, you know you can't beat me so you gave up?"

But the next second, the cannons roared!

The players, leveraging the mountain terrain, had their formation ready, unleashing a volley of thousands of arrows at Kua Fu, the cannons and muskets also fired.

After the smoke cleared, Kua Fu looked at its dissipating Demonic Qi and glared furiously.

"You tricked me!"

Lord Qin seemed puzzled, "How did I trick you? I only bet that you couldn't catch me; I never said others couldn't attack you. If you disagree, you are welcome to attack me!"

The players felt a bit embarrassed.

It seems the intelligence of these big demons is truly worrying, and the intelligence bearer, Fei Lian, fled first, making the deceiving of Kua Fu somewhat guilt-inducing for the players.

Maybe we should buy it some sunflower seeds as consolation?

"You deceitful beings!"

Kua Fu was clearly in a state of extreme rage, its body suddenly expanding rapidly, and the corpses of the demonic soldiers on the ground also disappeared quickly. All the Demonic Qi remaining in the entire slice of history was being absorbed into its body.

The players' cannons, bullets, and arrows barely made a dent.

But it was all too late.

In the sky, Beichen appeared out of nowhere.

The city Siege and the City Lord Mansion were both mostly destroyed, so it wasn't appropriate for Beichen to come out from there anymore. It was instead more imposing to directly step out of the void.

As he appeared, players felt the righteous Qi in their bodies being drawn out and concentrated, along with the righteous Qi of the mountains, rivers, and plants in the entire historical fragment, rising up!

"Evil demons, meet your demise!"

After a roar, Beichen's hand condensed numerous strands of righteous Qi into a Longsword, instantly glowing brightly, and slashed down at Xingtian!

"Swoosh!"

Kua Fu's huge body couldn't resist the power of this sword and was split in two from head to toe, like ice melting.

"Sequencer!!"

Kua Fu roared, throwing its staff into the players' formation, many players didn't manage to dodge in time and suffered heavy losses.

But in the next second, under the suppression of the righteous Qi, the staff transformed into a peach grove.

Kua Fu, glaring furiously at Beichen in the sky, but the next second, Beichen had already transformed into righteous Qi, descending like a canopy from the sky, suppressing the remaining Demonic Qi in the historical fragment and gradually converting it to righteous Qi.

Kua Fu was still unwilling, but its massive body had already thunderously collapsed.

All the powers of the great demons in the entire historical fragment were swept away.
