Nightmares Paradise [LITRPG System Integration]

Chapter 58 Archetype Green

With two of his Mana Cores having integrated six fragments each, Jon was one step closer towards reaching Knighthood. Jon was beyond pleased after reading the effect description of [Green Shall Become The Ode To Eternity], knowing that his gamble using the Fragment Of Prana had paid off.

Jon could not understate just how valuable this ability was, nor could Ashvattha Rana believe that the human manifested an ability perfectly suited towards his Archetype Green and the Incarnation Mana Core that he still planned on integrating in the future.

Rana almost suspected that someone had replaced Jon without her realizing it but knew that the emotions and memories swirling within his Sea Of Knowledge was near impossible to fake. His mastery over [Mine Is The Sea Of Knowledge] would need to be overwhelmingly developed for his Rank, beyond even her grasp of mental constructs.

'Perhaps Jon was just lucky. Or perhaps his Source grants him an affinity with abilities baring the Mutation Trait. It would not be the strangest thing. The lutin known as Avahni possesses an overwhelming affinity for the Summon Trait, so Jon having one too would not be that strange,' Ashvattha Rana thought to herself.

Of course, there was about a one in a million chance of finding an individual whose Source was especially pronounced. Considering that there were only a hundred thousand people within this single small realm, statistically speaking the chances of both Jon and Avahni possessing such a talent was extraordinarily low.

If Jon had integrated a Luck Mana Core, then through some incalculable force that was beyond her comprehension, maybe Jon could randomly manifest [Green Shall Become The Ode To Eternity].

Otherwise, she was sticking to her theory about the nature of Jon's Source.

Still, with the addition of his Yaochi-Jade Prana, Jon now possessed six abilities with the Mutation Trait. That was enough to fill up an entire Mana Core. One sixth of the total number of abilities he could possess. While Jon seemed pleased with the result, given that he wanted to maintain a relatively balanced build, Rana felt the need to warn him against integrating fragments that might contain mutative connotations.

"Jon. Now perhaps that you have manifested six abilities with the Mutation Trait, you should focus on other areas of your build? A Fragment Of Acceleration could increase your movement speed without resorting to mere physical enhancements. A Fragment Of Pierce or a Fragment Of Slash would improve your offensive strength beyond just the buffs born from Assail or [Rhapsody Of The White Star]?" Rana suggested, watching as Jon strolled closer and closer towards his campsite.

The human seemed quite interested at the mention of a Fragment Of Pierce, nodding his head while stepping around a wide patch of poisonous flowers.

"I almost forgot about that. I remember you saying that I should pick one or the other correct? If so, then I think the Fragment Of Pierce would be a better choice over the Fragment Of Slash. I find myself more comfortable with thrusting Assail over slashing with it, despite it being a barred spear," Jon admitted, manifesting the weapon in his hands and flourishing it behind his back.

Performing a rotation on the soles of his feet, Jon accumulated a minor amount of momentum, gripping the two-metre-long spear with one hand and thrusting it forward, carving a neon green light through the space in front of him.

The action had started to feel natural to Jon. The supportive effect of [Cometh Thy Red Horse Awaits], allowing him to obtain "knowledge" related to concepts of war, conflict and battle much easier than before.

Jon considered using one of his two remaining task rewards to exchange for a Fragment Of Pierce but refrained from doing so for the time being. Jon still possessed numerous abilities that he had yet to obtain a mastery over and even without the possibility of earning a task reward, the young man suspected that there might be a reward in the form of a Mortal Title Fragment or two.

After stepping over a familiar looking pitfall trap, Jon no longer required his [Monstrous Intuition] to urge him in the direction of his campsite. His familiarity with the area within a square kilometre of the riverbank he had called his home had almost matched his familiarity with the suburb in which Jon used to live.

Both the human and bodhi tree releasing a loud sigh of relief, the latter looking forward to manifesting herself out in the open again.

Now that Jon felt himself relatively safe knowing that Avahni and Wilheim were nearby, the human decided to manifest his Archetype Green out in the open. His previous reservations regarding how Rana wanted him to always keep the Archetype Green active, mostly dissipated with the introduction of his newest ability [Green Shall Become The Ode To Eternity].

Rana somewhat regretted telling Jon that it should always be active but knew it in her heart that it was the logical decision. Individuals who manifested abilities from Fragments Of Incarnation should always keep their "pseudo-independent spiritual construct" active whenever they could.

Taking a deep breath, Jon muttered the chant to manifest the Archetype Green.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

"Song. Life. Earth. Green. Eight hundred and eighty-eight shall represent the innumerable infinities. The verdant sun shall birth the harmony of boundlessness. The seventeen undying generals shall watch over the thou coffin, the immensities of heaven unable to be unravelled in a single generation."

"Choir. Spirit. Wood. Immortal. Mortals who deigned to reach towards eternity, incapable of lasting more than three generations. Thou shalt become the fulcrum which stands at the gates. Thy imperial knight. Thy greatest custodian. Manifest yourself before me and become the symbol of thine eternal reign!"

The extended chant was similar to the one that Jon required to summon Ashvattha Rana, although not quite as long. Rana had informed Jon that a handful of Spells required extended chants of various lengths, including those abilities born from a Fragment Of Creation.

Jon did not consider integrating such a fragment right this moment, instead focusing on the appearance of his Archetype Green instead. Despite his initial assumptions on how the Archetype Green would manifest, it was not at all like when he had summoned Ashvattha Rana, or when Avahni had summoned Xochitl.

Jon felt a subtle pain affecting his physical and mental faculties, as if someone had torn a portion of his spiritual energy away from him. The human felt the urge to grip something tightly but just watched, wide eyed as a green, pulsating amalgam blob exited his chest.

The shape of this blob was everchanging. Sometimes round, other times obtuse or even geometric. Jon thought he saw the familiar shape of a fractal pattern within the green amalgamation, but just watched as the shape gradually stretched out, growing to mimic his height, width and appearance.

Within a matter of seconds, the green blob had now assumed the same shape as Jon. Or rather, it had assumed the form that his associated personality traits felt the most affinity towards. Since Jon thought that the human form was the ideal form an individual could possess, naturally, the Archetype Green manifested itself in a similar manner.

Having his curiosity get the better of him Jon could not help but slightly tilt his head to the side, thinking that the Archetype Green would also mimic his actions. Instead, the human was rewarded with a single raised middle finger.

Jon did not seem angry with the reaction, instead blinking before nodding his head thoughtfully.

"I mean, Trevor did always say that I had a crappy personality…" the human muttered to himself.

Giving the Archetype Green one last glance, before watching it vanish back into himself. With a single step forward the Archetype Green connected itself back to Jon, dwelling both within and around the human. Patting himself down, Jon did not feel any different knowing that this pseudo-independent spiritual construct was now inside of him, unconsciously taking a step backwards and immediately feeling the result of half of his lifeforce being drained away.

Jon felt a sudden onset of dizziness, extending one of his hands to the side and allowing the entirety of his weight to lean against a single tree. While there were no feelings of nausea building up within him or churning within his stomach, Jon could not help but slowly sag down the length of the tree.

The human resting his head against the cold bark behind him, feeling as though he had just woken up after drinking and partying for three days and three nights. The enormous amount of physical strength that was contained within his tendons and muscles were reduced to nothing but an attractive sight, unable to muster the powerful physicality that he was proud of.

Jon did not feel tired. But his muscles and joints ached as he had just run several marathons in a row, without food or drink to sustain him. Having half of his lifeforce sacrificed to manifest the Archetype Green was perhaps a greater cost than he originally thought, even with the [Green Shall Become The Ode To Eternity], increasing both the quantity and quality of his lifeforce.

Jon was unable to tell the difference between the leaves rustling around him, and the one that existed within his mind. Although the faint sound of laughter caused him to scoff, not quite enjoying feeling so weak.

"You silly Mortal. Just because you manifested [Green Shall Become The Ode To Eternity] does not mean that your lifeforce will just skyrocket in an instant! Lifeforce does not just appear from out of nowhere. It requires sustenance and maintenance to work just like any other organ or mental faculty. Lifeforce, in a manner of speaking, is an accumulation, just like spiritual energy."

"I admit, I was not quite expecting the reaction to be so severe, although I do not doubt for a second that your Archetype Green is stronger than the average incarnation," said Rana, the words "I told you so" written between the lines.

Although Jon could feel the Archetype Green lurking within his flesh and spirit. His Longinus-Lancea able to feel a strange but familiar spiritual energy floating about within him. This was the first time that Jon had actually felt his Longinus-Lancea Spirit, knowing that the "spirit" was some other unknown concept that he had yet to familiarize himself with.

With the addition of his Fragment Of Spirit, Jon had transformed the shape of his mortal spirit into that of a Longinus-Lancea Spirit. Given the naming conventions, his mortal spirit had been transformed into a spear-shaped construct, shifting from short spear to long spear, and then from barred spear to one with a curved tip, allowing it to hook into flesh upon a successful thrust.

The moment that Jon noticed the form of his Longinus-Lancea Spirit transform into a bident, the human narrowed his eyes before reciting the chant for [Thou Art The Monarch Of Spears And Truth].

"Infallible spirit. Inviolable soul. Pierce through the infinity and penetrate through the source. Desecrated mind. Despoiled essence. Thou shalt reveal the truth, and nothing shall obscure my gaze."

Jon let out a sigh, as he observed the normal spear shaped construct manifest itself beside him. Even if he imagined the current form of his Longinus-Lancea Spirit, it did not correlate to a transformation of the spear natured spiritual energy construct.

Despite the "hangover" that Jon was experiencing, the human felt that with each instance of [Thou Art The Monarch Of Spears And Truth] that he cast, he was a step closer towards understanding the nature of his spirit. Unlike his Seir-Glacial Heart or Murmur-Glacial Marrow, his Longinus-Lancea Spirit possessed an inherent Spell within it, allowing him to manifest constructs of spear natured…

Jon paused, his mind backtracking to remember what he had just said.

The human felt his breath hitch and his eyes widen before muttering something underneath his breath.

"Mutations can birth Spells?" Jon muttered beneath his breath.
