Mage Legend

Chapter 768: Legends and Legends in Legends Chapter Forty-Two Ceremony

The news that the head of the Mage Association joined the Light Temple has become the hot topic among all the residents of Pate City. For a time, this event, which should have been cold and lonely, suddenly added a special sacred atmosphere.

The temple naturally wouldn't miss such a good opportunity for propaganda, and all preparations were in full swing. Since the Central Temple had already been marred and ruined by the Black Dragon, the ceremony to award Lynch had to be held in the arena. Upon hearing this news, curious crowds spontaneously organized themselves to clean and tidy the surrounding area. By doing so, they not only could secure a cheap seat for the day of the ceremony but also receive double food allowances from the temple.

Of course, the Paladins and Priests were the most excited, as this heralded a major victory for followers of the Light God. "Finally, there is a god in the world who can make mages submit, and that is the Light God Pate!" Thus, when heavy work pressed down upon them, they had no complaints as they prepared for the ceremony while also clearing and repairing buildings damaged during the chaos.

It seemed it was the archbishop of the temple who was the most weary. Every day, countless documents needed his review, most of which were information about the Mage Association. How many members they had, where they were distributed, and what kind of power they possessed. However, most matters had been taken over by Kuboert, leaving the current archbishop with little to do. These were not provided by Lynch, as he had no intention, at least for now, to sell information to another organization. The Light Temple gathered what little they had through various inquiries, and most of the data were deliberately misleading smokescreens placed outside by the mages, merely the tip of the iceberg of the entire association's power.

But this was already enough to shock the temple. Although it ruled the most powerful empire on the continent (at least before the Snake-man war), with vast territories and the largest population, in terms of wealth and combat power, it could only just match the Mage Association. When Kuboert presented this conclusion to Lynch, the Great Mage gave only an ambiguous answer, "Perhaps."

This statement is precisely the source of mankind's countless brilliant achievements in the world.

Many high-ranking members of the temple wanted to meet Lynch before the ceremony, to see for themselves the one reputed to be the strongest mage in history. Yet, he stayed all day inside the archbishop's room, claiming to be discussing "life philosophies" with the highest agent of the Light God. Impatient nobles could only extract meager information from the mouths of those servants.

"He is a young man, like a devout disciple, meticulously listening to the archbishop's teachings." The servants all described: "When the Light God's radiance shone upon him, he appeared the same, full of gratification and fulfillment."

Thus, all the Priests and Paladins were reassured, considering it a great victory for the Light Temple.

Actually, it was merely an Advanced Illusion set by Lynch in the outermost room, capable of simulating figure, temperature, sound, and even smell. Meanwhile, his true form was in another room within the archbishop's suite, carefully reviewing the intelligence Zilvra extracted from the Fake Bishop.

"It seems the Snake-men are scouring all kinds of resources in the areas they are occupying." Lynch put down a hefty stack of papers and leaned back in his rocking chair. "Besides metals, they've also found many rare items only alchemists would use. Unless the big snake intends to create festival fireworks, what else would they need such things for?"

"You're asking me, how would I know?" Zilvra sat beside Lynch, her legs casually placed on the mage's knees, holding a half-full glass of wine, and comfortably resting with her eyes closed. With the busy days spent "interrogating" the former archbishop, the female Drow had fully satisfied her urge for activity. The part of brutal Dark Elf blood naturally within her body finally settled down, leaving her in a calmer mood.

"It seems a balance needs to be struck between the Snake-man army and the Elf Alliance." Lynch temporarily tossed aside the materials, gently massaging Zilvra's legs. Yet, under her strong protest, the mage had no choice but to withdraw his tireless Refined Gold left hand and obediently serve her using his muscles, depleting the little energy he originally had.
