The colorful paintings re-entered the mage's sight; this was no longer the red world of Bator Hell, nor the black-and-white space of the Grey Ruins. Perhaps it was the long absence of those lovely colors, Lynch felt the azure sky and the green grass were extraordinarily vivid, while the rocks and red flowers failed to capture his attention. The sun's warmth on his body felt so harmonious.
Lynch could not yet be sure where he was, only when the stars came out at night would he be able to know his exact location. Still, he felt very fortunate, at least he hadn't ended up in the middle of some desert. It felt great to be surrounded by life, giving Lynch the illusion of being reborn.
Eryies was now completely unconscious, her entire body relaxed and pressing down on the mage. Lynch cast a Floating Disc spell, a glowing white disc appeared before him, hovering in mid-air. Lynch gently placed the Desire Demon on it, positioning her in a relatively comfortable posture. As long as his magic power wasn't completely exhausted, this disc would follow the mage, playing the role of a porter.
A surge of telepathy came from afar, like a calling voice. The corners of Lynch's mouth turned up in a smile since the only one with this ability was Norton. Judging from the intensity of the recent spiritual connection, the little demon statue wasn't very far away. The mage quietly waited, curious to see Norton's reaction upon knowing of his return.
After the connection was established, there was a moment of silence, as if Norton hadn't noticed the change. But soon, just as the mage anticipated, a flood of information surged in like a burst dam, overwhelming Lynch's mind. The mage couldn't gather detailed contents from the onslaught, only sensing Norton's worries, loneliness, distress over the years, and more than anything, the joy of reunion. It seemed that after gaining intelligence, the little demon statue truly developed its own emotions, now so excited it was incoherent. Lynch didn't want Norton to malfunction, as he needed this little guy to guide him back to his friends.
"Calm down, Norton. I'm fine. Where are you?" the mage hurriedly soothed the demon statue.
"Attention, Norton has found the master! Highest priority! Immediately cancel current tasks, change course, proceed to rendezvous." The demon statue gave a simple reply and then fell silent again.
Lynch scratched his head, not understanding what was going on. Could it be that excessive excitement inevitably leads to excessive calmness? There was one thing he could be sure of, he no longer had to exert effort to find Norton; the demon statue was already on its way. The mage kept thinking, 'I wonder if Zilvra and Soka will come together. Morgan can't fly; he'll likely slow down everyone else.'
Lynch picked a warm piece of grassland facing the sun, using his magical ability to flatten out the land. To prevent various little bugs from coming to disturb, especially to disturb Eryies' slumber, Lynch utilized Suppressing Spirit—a skill he mastered after becoming a legendary mage. Lynch found that not only when dealing with intelligent creatures did the techniques learned from the Desire Demon help achieve his goals more easily, but he could even "persuade" tiny insects to depart with ease.
The sun gradually set, and Lynch had just finished the last piece of elf cookie, which he had forced himself to save until his return to Anriel World. The mage felt his decision was wise because only by comfortably lying on the grass, watching the sunset while listening to the pleasant evening calls of the homeward-bound birds, did the sensation of a sweet cookie achieve harmony and perfection.
A cloud on the horizon grew larger, flying in Lynch's direction with the wind. The mage quickly noticed the situation, curiously shifting his gaze towards it.
His mouth gaped in astonishment. Only then did he realize what his three-year absence meant. Norton wasn't coming alone to meet him; instead, he brought the entire city.
It was the flying All-Knowing Tower.
