Ronan knew that the rainbow bomb wasn't going to match up to the ship's cannon the moment they smashed into each other. The world seemed to freeze as the space around the two destructive forces bent on itself and shattered, colour draining from the surroundings.
A burst of vibrancy exploded outwards, but was drowned out by the pure white beam of energy that tore through it on a direct collision course for Ronan.
He had begun running the moment he saw the ship preparing to attack him, but he knew he wouldn't outspeed the blast. There was less than a second until it struck him and he wasn't optimistic about his chances.
In that brief moment, Ronan realised that the sudden attacks after he killed the first of the three captains had blinded him to what he'd gained from the Agrathen's death. The beam of death screamed towards him, but everything stopped as time came to a standstill.

+160 Free Stat Points on level up
The only option available to him was a mediocre improvement on his already-mythical class. However, Ronan wasn't the kind of fool to turn up his nose at an increase in power, no matter how minor it was.
An extra 25 stat points per level as well as a slight buff to his cultivation talent was great. He wasn't sure how many levels past 100 he'd gained from killing the captain, but given that it was the lowest level of the three, he doubted it was more than one or two. Still, stats were stats.

The moment the slight pain faded, time started to gradually move. Ronan knew there was barely a moment for him to act. Thankfully, his thoughts were far faster than his body—though his nervous system was arguably even quicker, just held back by the limitations of his flesh.
There was only one thing Ronan needed right now. It might be a mistake in the long run, but he needed to win right now. He split all of the stat points he'd gained between agility and strength. The moment he felt his body starting to move again, he pressed into the ground and jumped forwards with every iota of power he could muster.
He felt the soles of his feet burning as the huge energy beam from the ship's cannon ripped into the ground and exploded everything around it. Ronan had escaped with a few blisters and a racing heart.
The moment he stood up he spotted the dual-wielding captain rushing at him. The ship had lifted higher into the air, putting distance between them. The battlefield had ramped up in intensity, but the overall strategy was the same. Ronan knew how to beat these two blue-skinned bastards.
Unfortunately for the captain, he didn't realise that Ronan just gained a massive power-up. Ronan let him believe they were still evenly matched as the Agrathen closed the distance between them.
He gripped the spear in his hand tightly and observed his foe's body for weaknesses. He still didn't know much about the biology of these aliens, but there was one thing he knew to be true: if you stick 'em with the pointy end, they die.
Vital surge had faded, but the minor boost to his stats dropping off didn't make much of a difference. The huge increase in strength and agility he'd just earned was about to show its worth. The captain was a few paces away, both swords held steady as it kept up its guard on approach.
Ronan lowered his stance ever so slightly and focused on his body. The soldier took another step and he leapt forward, thrusting with the spear.
The tip of the conjured weapon glowed brilliant blue with the power of his skills. In the blink of an eye he was in front of his foe and his short-spear had pierced the alien's chest. The force of the blow knocked it backwards as the first of the surging strikes followed up.
On the fifth blow, the soldier's chest burst apart, flesh flying in all directions as the power of a critical hit practically turned its body inside out. At that moment the kill notification appeared and Ronan relaxed a little.
Then he heard a boom and remembered there was still a third enemy flying around inside a ship with a fuck-off cannon. He was able to avoid the blast thanks to his newfound speed, but the ground and the corpse weren't so lucky, being utterly annihilated by the glowing white energy that struck them.
There was no time to check what his rewards had been for defeating the second captain, as the ship was closely following his movements. Taking down the bastards on the ground had been hard enough, and now he had to figure out how to bring down a flying ship.
As he was running around in zig-zags, trying not to make it easy for the sniper to hit him with another blast, Ronan remembered that he had a magic bow in his inventory and plenty of skills to work with. He pulled the weapon out and adjusted his grip.
Trying to hold it and aim while running was almost impossible. He eventually managed to find a gait that worked for him, but the bow bobbed up and down, making precise aiming a troublesome task. It was only thanks to his ranged weapons expertise skill that he was even close to tracking the ship's movement with the bow.
He let a trickle of his mana out and formed an arrow in the bow. He used enchant - explosion on the arrow, and hoped it was powerful enough to make a dent in the hull of the ship.
The cannon began to glow as the sniper prepared for another shot. Ronan fired the arrow, using arcane piercing strike as it flew from the string. Two holes on the bottom of the ship opened and it launched upwards as two pulses of energy slammed into the ground.
The arrow sailed underneath the ship and exploded against a building in the distance, blowing a big hole in the side of the uniform street. Ronan cursed and kept running as the cannon gathered power. This would be trickier than he'd expected.
The two of them continued the back and forth. Ronan kept firing arrows, gradually improving his accuracy and ability to predict the movements of the ship. None of them actually hit, but with every unfortunate building he destroyed he grew closer to victory. He hoped.
Aside from the two jets on the bottom of the hull, the ship seemed to have extra ones on all sides, giving it a ridiculous level of manoeuvrability that was hard to predict or keep up with. Avoiding the cannon-fire wasn't difficult with how many stats he'd gained, but Ronan was rapidly running out of smooth terrain to use.
It was time to take the battle deeper into the city, where he might be able to use the extra cover to take the ship by surprise. In an urban battlefield, he held the upper hand. Ronan looked around the streets leading away from the spaceport. It was difficult to choose the best one to escape into, given that they all looked the same. That also made the choice easy. He just picked the closest one and started to run.
