Colm rushed back to his room at the Adventurer's Guild, weaving through the bustling lobby. Looks like it really does get pretty busy at this time, he thought, glancing at the long lines snaking through the space. Note to self: always get back early or just avoid this time altogether. "I hate lines," he grumbled under his breath.
After squeezing his way through the crowded area, he found his way to the familiar hallway and approached his assigned room. He fished his Adventurer's badge out of his pocket, silently berating himself. Why didn't I put this in my inventory? "Gotta get used to that," He muttered the thought aloud as he waved the badge in front of the rune on the door. The familiar green flash and click sounded, and he let himself in.
Once inside, he took a deep breath and settled down, stashing his armor and badge into his inventory with a grin. I'll never tire of this. He swapped his gear for his more casual clothes, pulling them from his storage ring and as they materialized in place on his body. Amazing, he thought, laughing softly at the convenience.
He made his way to the bed and sat down, holding the Abyssal Ledger in his hands, admiring its craftsmanship. It looks sleek but plain, like little effort was put into the design. I guess it's more about the stats and capabilities than appearances.
Another thought struck him. It is a book. Is there actually anything inside to read? I didn't even think of that. Curious, he set the grimoire flat on his lap and tried to open the cover. When it wouldn't budge, he applied more strength, but the cover remained sealed.
"Well," he muttered, slightly perplexed. I guess it's not meant to be opened? That's a bit weird, but I'm not one to question it. He shrugged and adjusted his grip on the grimoire, focusing on what was next: bonding with it.
He let the book rest flat on his lap, running his hand along the spine and then across the cover, feeling the smooth texture of the crafted material. His thoughts returned to Amy's advice: Push mana into it, the same way I activate an ability. Probably similar to how I activated the ring.
With a deep breath, Colm focused inward, searching for the familiar sensation of mana stirring within him. As if on instinct, he channeled the energy into the grimoire. His glowing veins responded instantly, flaring to life with a vibrant blue intensity that illuminated the dim room. The light coursed through his Morvyn body, ethereal and mesmerizing.
This is eerily beautiful, he thought, captivated by the luminous spectacle radiating from his own form.
Moments passed, and the bright glow began to dim. He could feel the mana flow taper off, slowing to a trickle before ceasing entirely. The absence of the constant pull left him feeling a little drained. I wonder how much mana that took? he mused, quickly pulling up his status screen.

Colm's eyes widened as he read the notification. A new ability—and it feels perfectly in line with me. He grinned, holding the Abyssal Ledger tightly. This grimoire might just be worth every coin. Running some quick math in his head, he realized, With 126 intelligence, the initial hit alone would deal almost 400 damage—that's insane! Four direct hits could completely drain my health if I were the target. He glanced again at the notification. The tier and level seem a bit high compared to my class abilities. Maybe weapon abilities scale differently? He shrugged, too excited to dwell on it for long.
Bouncing with excitement, Colm shot up from the bed, securing the grimoire in his hand. I'm definitely trying this out. Without hesitation, he sped out of his room and made his way to the training area. Finding an empty room with a target dummy, he positioned himself at a comfortable distance.
As he held the grimoire, he paused, momentarily stunned. The once-blank cover now displayed an intricate image of a lance surrounded by crashing waves. Oh wow, he marveled. I guess it takes on a cover based on the ability. That's pretty cool.
Turning his focus back to the dummy, he raised his right hand, concentrating on the weapon ability. A swirling spear of spectral energy began forming in his palm, encased by a spiral of glistening water. The glow of the lance mirrored the hue of his phantoms but had a distinct brilliance, as though alive with its own energy.
This looks beautiful, he thought, awe-struck. After 1.35 seconds, thanks to the cast speed reduction from the grimoire, the lance finished forming and shot forward with incredible speed, colliding with the target dummy with a resounding thud. The impact sent beads of water scattering outward, some striking nearby surfaces with sharp splashes.
Laughing in amazement, Colm exclaimed, "I'm casting spells—I'm a wizard!" With growing confidence, he aimed at the ground near the dummy and cast the ability again. The lance exploded on impact, sending water shards outward, several of which hit the dummy. Neat, he thought. Even if I miss directly, I can still deal damage.
Consumed by glee, Colm continued firing lance after lance, feeling the power flow through his hand. Each cast fueled his excitement until his mana was almost completely drained. Panting, he surveyed the training area, a sense of accomplishment washing over him.
"Oh yeah," he muttered to himself, grinning. "I'm definitely heading back to the Dusk Caverns now."
