Everyone was silent. Sun Bang's words were impolite, but... they were true.
If it weren't for Tang Rao renting the boat, they would not have gone out to sea.
Nor would they have encountered that monster attacking the humpback whales, let alone being attacked by two crazed great white sharks.
"You, how much money will you get from this trip?" Tang Rao asked with a measured expression, looking towards Sun Bang.
Sun Bang glared at Tang Rao, not understanding why he would ask that.
"Ten thousand." Sun Bang finally spoke up; as the newcomer, his share was the least among the ten crew members.
"How much do you usually earn from fishing at sea?" Tang Rao asked again.
"Ten thousand... to twenty thousand..." Sun Bang swallowed saliva.
"Hm, high risk, high reward. That's very normal. What? You want money to fall from the sky but don't want to pay the price for it? Does this kind of good thing exist in this world?" Tang Rao snorted.
Sun Bang clenched his teeth so tightly they made a grinding noise.
"That's enough, no more talking. Sun Bang, keep a good lookout over the sea. Old Muscovite, keep baiting with the fish and shrimp, lure out those two sharks!" Wang Dachuan shouted loudly.
The pressing matter was to resolve the issue with those two great white sharks.
If they couldn't handle them, the fishing boat would inevitably be overturned.
Those two creatures were huge, both around five meters in size, each probably weighing more than two tons.
"We might not make it with fish and shrimp, this time use live bait. Get ready with your spears, aim for their heads." Big Beard shouted, then set up a fishing rod, hooked on a live fish, and tossed it down.
Slap slap slap!
Upon touching water, the live fish immediately started to struggle, slapping and darting about.
Everyone was staring at the splashing live fish, gripping their spears tightly in hand, with not many chances left.
"Here it comes!" Big Beard leaned forward and whispered.
Under the azure blue sea, a dark shadow rapidly approached, heading straight for the live fish.
The shadow grew larger and closer.
The moment the shark's fin appeared, Big Beard violently yanked the fishing rod in his hands!
The live fish was jerked upwards, flung into the air!
Splash!
A gaping mouth surged upwards, sharp teeth chilling to the bone.
The shark's massive body leapt out of the water.
A pungent smell and raw aggression rushed at their faces.
"Throw now!" Wang Dachuan shouted and violently flung his spear.
The other nine crew members also hurled their spears at the great white shark that had breached the water surface.
Five spears completely missed the great white shark, and three hit its body, but were not fatal.
Only Wang Dachuan's and another spear by Big Beard hit the shark's head, near the corner of the eye.
However, it was clear that they didn't penetrate deeply.
"Boom!" The great white shark fell back into the sea, then started to thrash wildly.
Bang bang bang bang!
Of the five spears that hit the shark, four were directly snapped back, only the one thrown by Wang Dachuan still clinging to the great white shark.
"What are you all waiting for, reel in the spears!" Wang Dachuan yelled.
The crew reacted and immediately gathered the ropes to retrieve the spears.
"Thump! Thump!" Suddenly, two loud bangs resonated from the hull.
"Darn it!" Big Beard immediately yelled out in alarm.
Wang Dachuan's brows were tightly furrowed; the rope in his hands had gone slack. Clearly, the great white shark had turned around and, undeterred by the spears in its head, chose to continue ramming against the hull.
"Bastard, this thing is way too clever." Wang Dachuan cursed, momentarily at a loss for what to do.
Tang Rao took a deep breath; unfortunately, the Abyssal Worm had been too far away since it was feeding on the humpback whale, and it would take at least half an hour to return — half an hour during which the fishing boat might very well be overturned.
"Try again!" Big Beard bit down hard and continued to release live fish into the sea.
But this time, no matter how the live fish thrashed, those two great white sharks did not burst out of the water.
"Damn it, these two beasts are freaking sinister," the Russian grimaced.
"I don't want to die! I don't want to die!" Sun Bang cried out again, his voice piercing and full of despair.
Everyone was silent; nobody wanted to be bitten to death by two great white sharks, the mere thought was damn dreadful.
Tang Rao turned his head to look at Wang Xidi, the girl's face was still somewhat pale, but she was no longer as terrified as before. Her body gradually calmed down, stopping the trembling.
"Aren't you scared?" Tang Rao asked.
Wang Xidi looked at Tang Rao, nodded, and then shook her head.
"Scared, but it's useless. Perhaps, this is fate. If it can't be resisted, then one must accept it," Wang Xidi sighed.
"I never accept so-called fate," Tang Rao said with a grin.
Wang Xidi looked somewhat dazed.
"Uncle Wang, do you have any planks?" Tang Rao turned to Wang Dachuan.
Wang Dachuan was briefly stunned, not sure what Tang Rao needed the planks for, but he still nodded and pointed to a spare short mast nearby.
Tang Rao didn't stand on ceremony and went forward, directly taking a piece off of it.
Then, he walked to the edge of the boat and threw the plank down.
The moment he threw the plank, Tang Rao leapt up.
What!!
Everyone was terrified, what was Tang Rao doing? Committing suicide?
"Hahaha, you think you can escape with a plank? You'll get eaten, gnawed to pieces!" Sun Bang pointed at Tang Rao, laughing crazily and full of mockery.
Bang!
The plank hit the water, and Tang Rao stood steadily on top of it.
He stood with his hands behind his back, hair fluttering, robes billowing.
While on the boat,Tang Rao had tried releasing Dragon Power, but sadly, the two great white sharks had already gone berserk, the Dragon Power suppressing them could not quell their madness.
Since that was the case, he might as well kill them.
"Tang Rao, get back on the boat!" Wang Xidi immediately ran to the side of the boat and shouted loudly towards Tang Rao on the plank.
"Russian, throw a rope! Throw a rope!" Wang Dachuan also started shouting.
Live fish were useless, but that didn't mean a live person was.
It's a great white shark after all, known as the man-eater, once they go into a frenzy, they seem to develop a particular fondness for humans, attacking relentlessly.
Seconds later, everyone saw a shadow under the surface of the water.
It was the one speared by Wang Dachuan!
"Everyone, come here, pull the rope!" Wang Dachuan yelled.
Everyone ran up, except for Sun Bang.
"Pull it fast!" Wang Dachuan bellowed.
They all pulled on the rope with all their might.
Every palm was bleeding, but they still couldn't stop the great white shark from rushing towards Tang Rao; the creature was too powerful.
They had to let go, then everyone returned to the side of the boat.
Everyone's eyes were fixed on Tang Rao.
The shark's fin appeared, less than ten meters from Tang Rao.
"Whoosh!" The next moment, the great white shark leapt furiously, its enormous body, sharp fangs, huge mouth seemingly capable of tearing anything to shreds.
As for Tang Rao, his expression was indifferent, coldly watching the great white shark lunging at him.
Spiritual Energy slowly drifted out, emanating from Tang Rao, pushing the water layer by layer away from beneath his feet.
Nine meters... eight meters... seven meters...
When the great white shark was five meters away from Tang Rao, Tang Rao lightly tapped his foot, leaving the plank, and leapt out towards the great white shark.
