"Judging by the current trend, this last 0.01 times will certainly fall before the rank promotion, turning into a 2.5 times gap, but as they say, 'when there are too many lice, it doesn't itch,' so this last 0.01 times isn't much to worry about either."
But Zhang Yanhang's bottom line is to maintain the 2.5 times difference and not let it extend to 2.6 times or even higher. He thinks that if it's just to this extent, he should be able to hold it off, well, probably.
...
November 2nd, Monday, the first day after Halloween, and also the second day Zhang Yanhang entered the Ashen World, 4:48 AM, Umbrella Biochemical Test Field, suburb of Umbrella City.
After checking the data panel, Zhang Yanhang initially thought of going directly to clear the monsters, but suddenly remembered that he hadn't checked the Heavenly Earth Skill in quite some time. After such a long period of growth, theoretically, his body size limit should have increased significantly.
So, Zhang Yanhang immediately opened the skill effect of the Heavenly Earth form and glanced at it.
[Heavenly Earth Form · Original Scripture LV.6 (Active Skill)]
[Active Effect: After skill activation, the Heavenly Destiny Master can freely transform (enlarge) the body, with a maximum transformation limit of 2400%+2700%=5100% [currently 644 meters (+83 meters)], power effect +600%. No cooldown, small physical strength consumption.]
[Additional Attributes: Maximum transformation limit +2700%.]
"My original height was exactly 1100 centimeters, which is eleven meters, and now after more than eight hours of automatic growth, the height has increased to 1262 centimeters, which is 12.62 meters, not bad."
The height of one floor is approximately 2.8 meters, and Zhang Yanhang's current height is roughly equal to 4.5 floors, which is about half a floor taller compared to last time.
What exactly is the concept of a 12-meter height? Generally, the flagpole in a regular school is about twelve meters high, in other words, when Zhang Yanhang stands up, he's already as tall as a flagpole, and he expects that by this morning at the latest, he should be able to reach the height of the flag-raising platform along with the flagpole.
"And with the automatic growth of my body size, the maximum transformation limit of the Heavenly Earth Skill has also increased again. The previous maximum transformation limit of the Heavenly Earth Skill was only 561 meters, but now it has increased to 644 meters, an increase of 83 meters in maximum transformation limit, which is roughly about one-seventh increase."
If Zhang Yanhang's previous maximum transformation limit was only equivalent to the level of the seventh tallest building in the world, South Korea's Lotte World Tower.
Now, Zhang Yanhang has surpassed the sixth tallest building in the world, the High Silver Financial 117 Building at 597 meters, the fifth tallest building, the Ping'an Finance Center at 599 meters, and the fourth tallest building, the Makkah Royal Clock Tower at 601 meters, directly leaping to the 632 meters level of the world's third tallest building, the Edinburgh Center Building.
In fact, he even surpassed the Edinburgh Center Building's 632 meters by more than 12 meters, just enough for another flagpole in distance, this could be the gap caused by whether it's showing off or not.
And Zhang Yanhang's next goal is the world's second tallest building - the Medika 118, located in Kuala Lumpur, with a total height of 679 meters. Although there is a bit of a gap with Zhang Yanhang's current maximum transformation limit, it's not much.
He expects that in another three to four hours, he should be able to catch up, after all, it's only a 35-meter difference, which for him now is indeed quite easy.
"It's now 4:48 AM, and there is the last hour and twelve minutes until the Transmission Channel in Raccoon City closes, more than enough time to clear the monsters and empty the Lucky Slot Machine jackpot."
Speaking of that Lucky Slot Machine, Zhang Yanhang teleported over to take a quick look and found that the Lucky Slot Machine in the Umbrella Biochemical Test Field still hasn't refreshed. It seems that it really might refresh only after 5 AM.
After checking the Lucky Slot Machine, Zhang Yanhang immediately teleported once again to the edge of the suburban area he had previously reached. Strictly speaking, this side no longer counts as a suburban area, but rather a mountainous region.
However, Zhang Yanhang mentioned before that the mountainous region is void of monsters, aside from some research facilities, there is nothing. The Ancestor Virus Infected and Lord Monsters are in the crevice area between the suburb and the mountainous region, but they lean more towards the mountain.
Since he already knew the exact location, Zhang Yanhang very accurately teleported directly to the side of these Ancestor Virus Infected.
These Ancestor Virus Infected as a whole look like a large pile of rotten sludge, or rather, like giant slimes formed by disorderly proliferated flesh tissue lying on the ground, with an overall height reaching at least above twenty meters, or perhaps nearing thirty meters.
But although extremely ugly, and appearing to advance by crawling using tentacles at the base, what makes Zhang Yanhang very envious is that these Ancestor Virus Infected have grown more than a dozen thick and pale arms on the body.
The positions of these arms are scattered all over the body, rather chaotic, with a large and pale arm bearing sharp claws grotesquely sprouting from the chest, back, abdomen, and even the top of the head.
If you ask why Zhang Yanhang is envious, naturally it's because he only has eight arms, but the opposite Ancestor Virus Infected has more than a dozen arms to use, which makes one wonder if this would still count as a solo fight even in a group brawl?
Oh, not quite, Zhang Yanhang mainly wants to grow a few more arms to equip more equipment.
"Despite the fact that I've also drunk several bottles of Ancestor Virus, why can't the Ancestor Virus let me grow a few more arms? Is it because I drank the optimized version?"
But to be honest, Zhang Yanhang thinks this might have little to do with optimization, but rather the success rate, as a normal success would allow an Ancestor Virus Infected to maintain their original human form, rather than turning into an obvious monster as seen now.
However, given Zhang Yanhang's current physical strength and relevant resistance, even if he wanted to fail, it would be impossible, let alone growing additional arms, which is pure wishful thinking, unless he could actively cut down a significant portion of his Constitution attribute.
But cutting down Constitution attribute isn't about wanting or not; it's simply impossible. After all, once you add points, they are permanent and can't be reset, and the Talent's bonus effects can't be turned off, so naturally, it's impossible to decrease them even if desired.
Based on sheer size alone, Zhang Yanhang estimates these Ancestor Virus Infected must weigh at least several thousand tons, making them heavyweight contenders, the heaviest monsters Zhang Yanhang has encountered so far. Such creatures skewed towards physical traits indeed stand out more in weight.
Moreover, apart from the numerous arms, these Ancestor Virus Infected have sprouted several thick tentacles near the lower part of their bodies.
These thick tentacles resemble giant macrophage worms, entirely pale and covered in mucus. The fronts have petal-like mouthparts that can split into eight sections, densely packed with sharp, hooked circular suckers, and the core seems to have a structure similar to a feeding mechanism.
Although the Ancestor Virus Infected already have a giant maw on their belly, which almost seems to bisect them, Zhang Yanhang thinks these tentacles could also devour food to some extent.
Also, what astonishes Zhang Yanhang is that this creature seems to have no head; in fact, not even a trace of something akin to a brain exists—it appears to be a pure biological entity driven solely by instinct.
But since it involves Divine Power monsters, or rather something mutated by Divine Power, Zhang Yanhang isn't fazed by any abnormalities and merely marvels at the capabilities of Divine Power to achieve such feats.
Given that Divine Calamities also lack brains, born solely with the desire to destroy the world, this brainless Ancestor Virus Infected might actually be somewhat normal.
Well, honestly, they're not normal; growing into this bizarre form seems less like a mutation by Divine Power and more like a body deformed by pollution from Outer God. In the context of Cthulhu Mythos, the image of such an Ancestor Virus Infected might immediately seem normal.
Just as Zhang Yanhang was pondering whether these creatures could move normally using their tentacles, he was startled to find one Ancestor Virus Infected suddenly growing a pair of grey wings, dozens of meters long, from its back, flapping like a giant grey moth and flying inexplicably into the air.
This wide pair of grey wings contains no bones or the like; instead, it's filled with tightly intertwined tenacious tentacles resembling steel cables as the main structure, with massive amounts of fleshy tissue filling other parts, and an outer layer of grey, bark-like tough skin.
Although the flying mechanism is unclear and doesn't adhere to any aerodynamic principles, perhaps under Divine Power's influence, these large grey wings forcibly lifted the body of the Ancestor Virus Infected into the air. Moreover, it did so at remarkable speed.
According to Zhang Yanhang's estimation, these not at all scientific but indeed theological wings generated a flying speed above Mach 2 for the Ancestor Virus Infected, which weighed at least several thousand tons.
Accompanied by massive sonic booms and distinct white Mach rings, the Ancestor Virus Infected darted at high speed towards Zhang Yanhang, then opened its large maw and swallowed Zhang Yanhang's body whole.
To be honest, Zhang Yanhang was greatly impressed by how the Ancestor Virus Infected, only two or three stories tall, could widen its mouth to engulf his twelve-meter-high body, as the mouth seemed to open to an almost 180-degree angle. He suspected that any wider might lead it to tear itself in two.
However, the Ancestor Virus Infected did something perplexing to Zhang Yanhang next: it seemed to activate a skill akin to Charge, increasing its flying speed to over Mach 3, then began flying at full power.
Then, before Zhang Yanhang could do anything, a sound similar to the tearing of thick leather was heard, and it tore a transparent hole in its own body.
If the Ancestor Virus Infected had a spine and kidneys, this move would have definitely snapped its spine on the spot and torn out its kidneys, leading to showers of blood.
Why did this happen? Naturally, it was because even though Zhang Yanhang was barely swallowed, he couldn't be moved around like a thorn.
At this point, as the creature forcibly charged forward, it ended up tearing itself apart while Zhang Yanhang remained in his original position without any change. After all, before breaking the Energy Shield, any form of kinetic attack had no effect on him, let alone changing his position.
Though indeed brainless, guided by Divine Power, Zhang Yanhang initially believed the Ancestor Virus Infected would at least possess some beast-like instincts. But from the current situation, it seems this creature might actually be astonishingly stupid.
A monster that charges itself to death—even with all the monsters Zhang Yanhang has encountered—an Ancestor Virus Infected doing so is unheard of, possibly not even as competent as a zombie; at least zombies sometimes relocate, know to circle around the edge of a board instead of stubbornly pushing against it.
Although this creature might seem genuinely dumb, as a monster associated with Divine Power, Zhang Yanhang felt it must have other methods that hadn't yet been deployed—unlikely to directly end itself, right?
Just as Zhang Yanhang thought this, a kill notification popped up timely: the Ancestor Virus Infected had indeed charged itself to death.
[Successfully killed Fourth Tier Three-star Monster 'Ancestor Virus Infected [Divine Power Mutation] (Elite)' ×1, Soul points +18000.]
"Huh?! I didn't expect it to actually die so easily... Also, how could this thing be worth eighteen thousand Soul points? What kind of evaluation standard is this?"
Zhang Yanhang admitted he couldn't understand it, yet he was deeply shocked.
"Could it really have additional, more powerful attack methods that weren't brought out? It seems highly likely, since I never checked the Ancestor Virus Infected's Attribute list, maybe it truly had more potent attack strategies but died too quickly to utilize them."
After all, being worth eighteen thousand Soul points in kills, Zhang Yanhang believes the evaluation within the Ashen World should be accurate. The Ancestor Virus Infected, however, might have wasted more powerful attack methods due to its lack of a brain.
