Reincarnated! A Tale of the Sorceress Amaya

Chapter 309: Kira's Perspective

Interlude: Kira

My life had certainly taken some weird turns since I had met Amaya. Visiting hell? A year ago I would have thought it unthinkable. Now I was not just here, I had joined an attack on a demon lord.

Amaya was a curious being. She was teaching me aura control, a significant benefit. Yet she had not really demanded anything in return. I had joined her fight willingly. I had watched her servants, their smiles were genuine. I had watched her town grow. She cared for mortals and immortals alike.

Of course, she was a storm fey. She was distracted easily and often a bit impulsive. Yet somehow she managed to build a network of reliable allies and had long term plans in place.

My musings were interrupted as the battle began. I spread my wings and dove towards the enemy ranks. Puny demons. Their feeble spells did nothing to my scales. I opened my mouth and bathed them in lightning. Amaya's aura seemed to help empower my own attacks. The rain hitting my scales felt like the gentle touch of a friend. Her aura was impressive, as always.

As I came around for another pass I spotted a demon with a lot of tentacles. I wondered if he would taste like octopus. I stopped my breath attack and came in for a snack. My mouth closed around the screaming creature and I bit down, silencing my prey. It was a bit chewy…

I snorted. Lucy and Amaya were a bad influence. I was fighting in hell against the army of a demon lord, and my mind was contemplating snacks. I swallowed the demon and focused on attacking again. Things were going smoothly.

"Bad blood! Come back here!" Shani screamed.

I looked at the elemental lord. Something was taking control of the blood. It was being funnelled towards something. What was happening? The elemental chased after blobs of blood while screaming curses.

I looked at Amaya, floating in the sky opposite to Ashmedai.

"This is the true way of demons. The weak shall feed the strong." Ashmedai said.

I shuddered at those words. What was going on? Was that a ritual? Did I see runes on the ground coming to life?

"Devour Magic." Amaya spoke in a commanding voice.

Black smoke appeared and started to eat the ritual. Devour magic was an Amaya spell. I heard ridiculous stories about it from Lucy and Shani but surely it could not eat a ritual? Was it going to explode?

My allies took to the sky and we watched from a safe distance. Amaya was engaging the demon lord again with her blade. Her ridiculous spell seemed to eat the lord himself, somehow. Then she stabbed him.

"Ugh. This feels weird…" Lucy said, floating near me.

"WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Shani shouted while zipping back to the ground into the remaining demons. The ritual had done a number on them. A lot had started to bleed and were drained by the runes. The runes were inert now. The black smoke was gone from the ground, only Ashmedai was still covered in it. He did not move, neither did Amaya.

"I am dizzy…" Lily complained as she tumbled towards the ground. It was not a free fall, just a rather erratic flight. Lucy followed, wobbling as well.

"What is happening? Are you under attack?" I asked my allies. How was everyone affected but me?

I did not get an answer. I looked towards Amaya and she started to fall. Her sword was still inside Ashmedai, who slowly dissolved into smoke. I quickly flew towards her and caught her in my claws. Then I gently lowered her to the ground.

Shani was still slaughtering stragglers but every demon capable of movement was already fleeing. Lucy and Lily were both lying on the ground, I placed Amaya next to them. They were all breathing but what was happening? A mental attack?

"HAHAHAH! MINE! THIS BLOOD IS ALL MINE!" Shani shouted. She seemed a little more unhinged than usual.

I poked Lucy with a claw. No reaction. Damn, mental magic was not one of my strengths. Should I just wait?

As I stared at Lucy I noticed a change. There was movement at her back. Was there a creature… No! It was another tail! She was growing a new tail! Why? How?

I looked at Amaya, nothing happened there. Lily… Lily was changing too. It did not see much happen physically but I felt her power, her presence, grow. Was she developing an aura? Was that even possible? She was an elemental knight. I had never heard of the knights of the archfey developing their own auras. They were strong, sure. They had been granted powers from their lady, but developing an aura? It would mean Lily became a demon lord! She would reach my level of power!

"Shani, what is going on?" I shouted. The crazy elemental was the only one conscious.

"Snacks! She is giving us snacks! It's snacktopia! We need more blood to go with the snacks!" Shani shouted, while continuing her harvest. That had not been helpful. At least it did not sound like something bad was happening.

So I just waited and kept watch. Hopefully they would wake up soon. Also, why did not I get any snacks?
