Reincarnated! A Tale of the Sorceress Amaya

Chapter 307: War

The next day we left for war. It was time to settle some things and ensure a prosperous future for my people. Of course, hell was kind of big. We could not just reach his territory in a day. It was one of the reasons why we needed our recall amulets.

It took an entire week to reach his domain. We had not tried to be stealthy but I was surprised by the welcoming committee.

In front of us was a desolate plain, filled with rocks and sand. The few plants that grew had a yellow taint. The sun shone brightly, creating an intense heat. The army in front of us did not seem to mind though.

Thousands of demons stood before us. Some big, some small, some with horns, multiple hands or plenty of tentacles. The more humanoid ones wore armour but a lot of the beasts had naturally armoured skin. Above the army, a big demon floated. His head was adorned with two black horns. His crimson skin was on full display as he only wore black pants. In his hand was a black glaive with red pulsing lines, they looked hungry.

"The archfey and her harem." The demon snorted. "Welcome to my domain. Your blood shall feed this land."

He sounded surprisingly confident. Not that I cared. I unleashed my aura and so did Lucy.

"I am the Storm. Your transgressions against me and mine are unacceptable. You have been judged. Your sentence is death. Any demon here will have the option to surrender, or join your fate." While I spoke clouds began to form, hiding the sun. The battlefield was covered in darkness, until the lightning began. Thunder accompanied my voice and some of the demons flinched, yet none surrendered.

Ashmedai did not respond. Instead blood seemed to pour from his skin. An armour formed around his body, including his head.

"This is sooo cool!" Shani said, while excitedly twirling her scythe.

I cast Storm's Embrace, so did Lucy. Kira and Lily used their own spells for protection. Lily was wielding Storm's Blossom and had her maid armour in full plate mode. She extended her energy wings, ready to charge. Kira turned into a dragon and Lucy became a fox.

I started the first offensive move by casting Storm's Wrath. The spell mixed with my aura and lightning started to fall from the sky, accompanied by heavy rain. And so the screams began.

The demon horde charged but they were only here to draw out our spells. I drew my blade and dove right into the horde. My allies followed.

Lucy's body was covered in lightning, zapping anything that came close. Her paws sent demons flying and her teeth crushed limbs. The enemy horde failed to pierce her skin and most spells did not even leave a mark.

Meanwhile Kira attacked from above, unleashing her lightning breath on the horde below. Shani spun around with her scythe, slicing demons apart. The resulting blood flowed into her and fueled red lightning bolts. Bolts that were unleashed from her bunny ears. Lily's weapon left a trail of blood and cherry blossoms. It almost looked like a dance.

Ashmedai watched our assault at first, floating above his army. He had formed wings of blood as he hovered over the battle. He seemed unconcerned by the slaughter, or the occasional lightning bolt hitting him.

While my allies were chewing through his army, literally in Lucy's case, I decided to engage the demon lord himself. At first I just went for a simple attack with my sword. He parried the blow with his glaive. As he pushed my sword to the left he counted with a stab. I easily dodged backwards, out of reach.

We exchanged a few more blows in the sky and it became clear that he was a melee focused demon. He was stronger than me and knew how to wield a weapon. I was faster though and could use my magic for some teleportation strikes. But my advantage was definitely magic.

While we fought I started casting a few aura empowered storm bolts. They were not enough to truly hurt him but I could see dark spots forming on his armour. My plan was to crack it and hit him with Storm's Judgement. I was also pondering a devour magic on his blood armour, but first I wanted to get a better feel for his abilities.

Ideally I would destroy his armour as a surprise and then hit him with powerful lightning while he was distracted. And I needed to make sure that devour magic would not eat my own lightning bolt.

"You fight surprisingly well, for a fey." Ashmedai said. There was a brief stop in our fight as we both considered, or prepared, our next move. "I did not expect a little thing like you to be able to wield a sword." Ashmedai said, then he looked down on the battlefield. My allies were demolishing his horde. He smiled.

"Bad blood! Come back here!" Shani screamed.

I looked towards the elemental and my eyes widened. I looked around the whole battlefield and I saw a pattern. I saw a circle. I saw a ritual, fuelled by blood. Fuelled by sacrifice. Ashmedai had not brought an army, he had brought sacrifices. He had prepared a giant blood ritual and our slaughter was feeding it. Not just our slaughter…

A giant circle sprang to life, greedily drinking all the blood it could find. Demons cried in pain as blood was drained from their living bodies.

Ashmedai smirked, his eyes glowing red. "Welcome to hell."
